Why are there little to no Lord of the Rings comics? It feels like such an untapped market considering DC could potentially get permission from Warner, and the Tolkien family has even allowed free creation in gaming, yet no comics?
What would a Tolkien-verse comic even 'be' like?
There's an absolutely wonderful Hobbit comic. I highly recommend checking it out. Done by David Wenzel. Gorgeously illustrated throughout.
>DC could potentially get permission from Warner, and the Tolkien family has even allowed free creation in gaming, yet no comics?
If there's gonna be Tolkien comic's it's gonna be the Hobbit by Trove Jansson. If DC did them they'd get some cheap ass artist from south of the border to do the pencils instead of actually bothering to put any decent talent on it outside of variant covers.
>not by DC
Doesn't count. I'm not interested in your indie hipster garbage.
I want to see shit like the Tolkienverse being part of the DC multiverse. They wouldn't interact regularly, but it would be fun to see shit like Gandalf and Superman teaming up during Crisis-level events and Multiversities.
Thanks for recommending this, took a look at a few pages and it looks great. After that fucking trilogy seeing something faithful to The Hobbit that manages to capture the spirit really warms my heart.
>he doesn't have elven eyes to read tiny images
Marvel, DC, and other publishes decided to do comics with a better fantasy series/author
Fuck that. Bishonen Sauron a shit.
Here's Evan Palmer's take on the Ainulindalë.
Storytiming it since it's only about 20 or so pages long.
For non-Tolkien fans, this is the very first part of the Silmarillion.
The best part by far is how abstract this is.

Two of my biggest loves are the DC universe and Tolkiens works. The last thing I want is for them to mix
Really digging how fluid the shapechanging is.
And that's all, folks!
Seriously, though, capefags need to wise up and realize that there are some things which need to be kept out of capeshit. Tolkien being one of them.
I'd be for seeing a variety of different chapters of the Silmarillion told as an anthology though, that would be the coolest shit.
>now listen here you little shit
