Found it! Night Mary. I read it as part of an anthology book called Crawl Spaces

Saga of Swamp Thing

The hellraiser comics are great, especially the ones from the early 90s. Had crazy weird art and every story for the most part was a stand alone story. There's also a current hellraiser series that takes place I think 20 or 30 years in currents times after the first two hellraiser flicks.

This was great. Only four issues, but legit scary.

Also a comic called Necronomicon, from Boom Studios. Four issues too. Lovecraftian. Incredibly creepy artwork. (if you liked the body-horror of nu52-Animal Man, you'll love this one.)

Some good one for starting out is Moore's Swamp Thing. It's more existential than anything, but the art alone is worth reading. People lose their minds and everything in that book

Black Hole is another good book. It sucks you in almost immediately

Joe R Lansdale has written most of my favorite supernatural/horror comics. Jonah Hex and Blood and Shadows for Vertigo and Lone Ranger and Tonto for Topps.

Animal Man and Swamp thing for like the first 10 or so issues use a lot of body Horror elements. The whole thing up till issue 17 or so is pretty dark and freaky. But outside of the implication of the world they live in I wouldn't call them horror though. Just the ideas in them are horrifying.

I can definitely recommend Swamp Thing, while not outright "spooky" horror most of the time, it does pull of some great creepy atmospheres. You might enjoy Hellblazer as well
