Unhappy with gremlin Peridot (bitch is way too infantile, was better when she was at least partially threatening and stuff) but everything else is alright. New intro is cool.
We're not seeing Yellow Diamond until like April or some shit though so not much interest in it at the moment.
It's on track to be really fantastic. Considering most people say S1 doesn't really kick off until the midseason two-parter, we've already had a good number of excellent episodes and an overall high level of quality without even having reached that halfway point.
I like it, but I kind of miss some of the episodes of the first season where the focus was gem attacks and human episodes seemed more interesting, like Island Adventure. I like how we're getting more and more story, but somehow it feels like we're not getting enough while at the same time it feels like they're rushing it or not pacing it well. Maybe it's all the hiatuses.
I really like Peridot, but I'm kind of wary where they're going to go with her. I don't want to be that "shippingfag" but I really hope they don't just pair her up with Amethyst or something, just because her interaction with Steven is cute and it's starting to get to a point where it kind of feels like there's "too many lesbians". Something different would be neat, but I digress.
I really don't like the direction that they've taken Peridot's personality. She just keeps getting more and more hyper every time she appears. She's really only funny when they're treating her as a nobody who can't catch a break.
With the exception of
Sadie's Songand Rising Tides/Crashing Skies, I'm very much enjoying S2 so far, especially the current Peridemption/Cluster arc. While this hiatus is total clusterfuck, I am really looking forward to what's to come when the show returns.
Speaking of when the show returns, I'm cautiously crossing my fingers that CN pulls a nice Stevenbomb out of its ass to ring in the new year.
The scene that stood out the most to me was the scene where she starts running around Steven's house like child hopped up on sugar throwing around appliances. All of her laughing at her own jokes in Too Far was also pretty irritating.
this show has been rash sice it started
If anyone's dying, which I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even do that, it's Yellow Diamond or Lapis just because her only character trait at the moment is make everything worse.
It was supposed to be irritating. She was trying to ingratiate herself to the CGs (Amethyst, mostly) but has zero social skills or respect for Earth culture, which pretty much covers her behavior to this point.
I like it better than the first season and Peridot is great. I didn't expect /co/ to be such whiny faggots about a wonderfully shitty villain-turned-hero with all the hijinks that come with it.
>The Sardonyx arc wasn't too great either
Am I the only one who thought that it was just a very poor retread of the Sugilite episode?
>Two gems fuse
>Pearl questions her own strength and worth on the team
>Pearl overcomes said obstacle with a round of applause from the team
>Two gems fuse
>Pearl questions her own strength and worth on the team
>Pearl overcomes said obstacle with a round of applause from the team
>Only thing added was Pearl being a shit and more "muh fusion" from Garnet / Ruby/ Sapphire
I haven't watched since that one where Pearl tricks Garnet into fusing with her. I wasn't happy with the direction they were taking the show's tone and this was too much. Especially because Pearl was my favorite gem in season 1 and they really dragged her through the mud. Do things get better?
Pearl has one good episode later on where she actually acts like her season 1 counterpart, but you have to sit through the rest of her moping around in the next few episodes to get it.
>I haven't watched since that one where Pearl tricks Garnet into fusing with her
Nearly dropped the show at this point as well
>Pearl was my favorite gem in season 1
Same. She was a bit uptight, but she was genuinely loving of Steven, and her awkward personality made her endearing. She was also a clear choice for favorite, seeing that our only other options were Garnet (a mary sue, and now even worse of a character because now all she talks about is fucking fusion) and Amethyst (annoying as fuck in early episodes, but has warmed up to me a little since she got some character development).
>Do things get better?
Things seem to be looking up.
I liked it because I'm dealing with a bunch of parental shit lately so it hit home.
The song was okay.
I REALLY should have called that Steven was gonna do the routine himself sooner.
Was that before or after Pearl left Steven to die off a cliff? These episodes get muddled together in my memory.
I suppose there's being the outsider and not knowing about Earth, the Crystal Gems, or just how to really interact with others, but other than that, not really. Everything basically comes from "You hurt our feelings, how dare you come from a different culture".
Because it was a standard beat-for-beat kid sitcom plot that didn't even use its magical elements to add any fresh elements to the plotline. You could predict how the whole episode was going to play out the moment her mom showed up.
The crossdressing scene also thought it was much funnier than it actually was.
Can't really speak for others on the cross dressing thing, but it was a pretty boring episode considering it was sandwiched between the first episode back from hiatus and an episode that Perifags were pretty (and justly) hyped for. I would have probably been received better if it was put later in the season.
That's pretty much how I feel on all points. I didn't dislike Garnet, but I thought she was cool. But since the Ruby/Sapphire reveal, I felt that she just wasn't the same. On the other hand, I feel that Amethyst was becoming way more likeable since that episode where she dies like 5 times. Like she actually grew up. Pearl was just sort of going all psycho and was just obsessed with Rose and showing no concern for anyone else.
>Was that before or after Pearl left Steven to die off a cliff? These episodes get muddled together in my memory.
After? Unless you're talking about a different episode in which she leaves him to die in a cliff. I remember one episode in which she freaks out because Rose didn't tell her about the armory and Steven nearly kills himself trying to follow her and she doesn't give a fuck. Season 1 Pearl would have been a bit more concerned with his safety.
>Does Steven have any issues?
Aside from a lack of mother, and being raised by three space women, no.
He seems to be one of the few people in Beach city without some manner of crippling emotional problem.
Greg must have been an A+++ father when he visited.
>Having a overprotective mom is bad
>Having a mom that wants you to be the best at everything is bad
I feel likes there missing another type of mother i can't put my finger on it
I think this is one of the few times where I would say this in good conscious, but
Peridot is doing nothing wrong.
Meeting expectations of replacing his mother while also having to deal with being seen as a child, which also goes into him being torn between being human and gem, and then wanting to protect everyone.Or at least, it's there somewhere.
I am legitimately impress that Steven is pretty good at keeping his emotions in check for what he has to deal with.
Also lets talk about Greg because I am surprised he doesn't drink
Her physical form and her gem are technically separate
Her physical form is just a proxy for the gem, but the gem needs the form to interact with the world
But Rose is basically still in there somehow
I kinda dropped the show for now, last eps I watched was Peridot and Pearl make robots.
Honestly it seemed like the show really started pandering to the fanbase, I never understood why people liked Peridot and wanted her to be a gem, and while theyre doing it I dont mind so much, but making her character annoying and mean but secretly scared and naive and "cute" to the things happening on earth just seems really really juvenile to me.
So honestly, nowhere near as good as season 1.
>yfw Yellow Diamond turns out to be a fucking goofball
>yfw this show will probably never have serious antagonists
The show has become too melodramatic since it's beginnings.
Pure female, emotional porn wankery.
I wish we actually got to see some of Steven training and stuff.
I'm pretty sure that "monster reunion" will actually focus on Steven and possibly have him advance in his powers and heal the centipeedle? Maybe?
Show likely wouldn't answer. Her main objective at this point is to stop the cluster so that she herself doesn't die.
>Yellow Diamond and a posse of other Homeworld gems show up, wondering where their science experiment is
>Peridot claims that she stopped the cluster to save her own life
>YD kills her for betraying Homeworld
Can anyone explain to me what the Crystal Gems motivations are?
The most I can gather is that they're on Earth, taking care of Steven and trying to prevent a gem invasion solely because Rose told them to.
None of them seem to care a whole lot about Earth or humanity and they don't seem to be gaining anything from all this.
>Yellow Diamond is a gem who is extremely tired of her job
>She uses this as an excuse to ditch her responsibilities and relax for a bit
>Yellow Diamond does something to piss off steven
>Steven goes beserk
>Ronaldo first appearance
>think he will be a homeworld gem's ally because he discover the diamond at the end of the episode.
>literally a retard
>that dance part
>i think he was going to be the first evil male gem.
>lolno just anxiety
Fuck Sugar mate , gladly i already dropped this show because of the awful S2.
Outside of technology the crystal gems assume Homeworld is the same culturally based on Peridot and Jasper's interaction with them.
Steven is more interested in making peri comfortable with earth before he starts probing her for questions about home. He's smart enough to know asking certain questions could open skeletons for the crystal gems so he would probably want to hear it from garnet and pearl rather than peridot to make everyone feel comfortable.
I hate the genderqueer, homosexual, broken homes are fun, worthless dads and having no role models or manly men and similar tones but it's fun for the most part.
Things I'm looking forward to: Steven dying but coming back from his gem, his first fusions with other gems, peridot fusing with steven and co, peridot dying for power up moment to win a fight, rose being channeled from the afterlife through kamehameha to finish big bad, killed yamcha reference complete with dead saibaman hand on the bottom left of the crater.
well S1 was more building the plot and characters while S2 try to advance on it, i like it so far and peridot is great, but the serie in general rarely has great episodes mostly are good with some bad fillers
"Too Far" was disgusting SJW pandering. The whole episode and SERIES Amethyst is being a dick but the minute Peridot makes an UNINTENTIONALLY hurtful remark based on her own experiences suddenly Amy can't deal and Peridot is a horrible person
Basically Amethyst is like a fat negress that makes fun of white people over twitter but the minute some white person talks shit about Africa flips out and calls everyone racist.
The cutest Peridot episodes are Warp Tour, Marble Madness, The Return, Jailbreak, Keeping it Together, Cry for Help, Friend Ship, Catch and Release, When it Rains, Back to the Barn, and Too Far.
Hey everyone... Glad there's a /sug/ up...So I'm on episode 50, still on Season 1, but damn...shit is going down. The gems just held back Peridot, and Jasper and Lapis fused together, only to be tricked by Lapis...good shit, didn't see that coming. So Jasper and Lapis seem out of the equation for now...and Peridot is still on the loose.... Season 1 is wrapping up nicely...and I love how they're slowly tying in Rose more and more. I'm going to see Rose has some tie with Lion? They seem connected especially with the whole Rose's scabbard episode...
Back to the Barn was by far the best episode of this recent Peridot arc because it was entertaining, told a complete story, and had some good character moments for Pearl.
Catch and Release was okay, and both When it Rains and Too Far were mediocre.
A bit much with the "SJW" shit, but I totally agree.
I also hated how the episode just starts out with Peridot asking "Hey, can you defuse for me?", not even being mean in the way she's asking, and Garnet just puts her on a leash and we're supposed to just laugh and go "HAHA, good on you, Garnet".
Honestly, kind of starting to get sick and tired of Garnet's shit.
It has been disappointing. The way they are handling Peridot's character and other character's reactions to her make sense, but they are also really obnoxious to watch. I hope they just kill her off soon. What really needs to change is just more emphasis on Steven doing his stuff rather than gem drama of the week.
The worst part is that I'm actually starting to appreciate Connie as a character now that the gems are progressively becoming more unbearable as more and more drama bullshit gets thrown in.
>Amethyst is an immature kid and can therefore have fun at other's expense
>Peridot is a stranger to Earth culture and the Crystal Gems' standards but is not allowed to make any social faux pas stemming from her original culture
>Peridot should be fine with relationships she's been socially conditioned to find inappropriate!
>How dare she have her own preferences
>It's 2015 COME ON!
I'm still on Season 1, but Peridot seems like an interest villain, do they fuck her character up that badly? Peridot seems cool enough, but perhaps doesn't have the draw as the more mysterious yellow gem is...
>tfw Stevidot will never happen
I don't want SU to go harem anime but it'd be nice to see another hetero-relationship or just an acknowledgement that other gems besides Rose can be attracted to humans
Who else wants to see an episode of Peridot or Lapis really bonding with Steven and Steven getting romantically attracted and feeling guilty because he likes Connie? Bonus if it includes Greg giving "the talk."
Well... it depends on who you ask. Many anons are perfectly fine with the way they are taking her character, but some (like me) are not. You'll just have to watch and decide for yourself
I get Tumblr hates forward men but geez louise.
All he did was hit on Stevonnie and then you proceeded to consider him evil? All that panic and tension shit was purely Connie's anxiety and in their mind he was just a bit of a jerk, that's it.
Keep on tumblring SU fanbase.
They were likable at first.
>Do you just really hate yourself?
>Being this big a twat
If he didn't watch up to that part, you'd cry that he hates something without watching it, but since he did, you cry about how he continues to watch something he doesn't enjoy.
That's a really mean thing to say, anon.
No, I actually wouldn't. I can fully understand dropping the show if you don't like it by the second episode.
You are going to be disappointed if you were interested in her as a villain.
Amethyst is insecure as fuck and hearing someone talk shit about her friends who she feels inferior too was funny to her. Being told that she is defective when she already feels like shit for being a leftover war machine was probably just the icing on the self-loathing cake.
The closest thing I can think of is Steven being attracted to Lapis/Peridot before he felt romantically with Connie, and he learns something like "He probably shouldn't date gems" and that would lead to him and Connie becoming a couple.
nah, if they nix her as a villain that's fine, as long as it's for a good reason, and they replace her with another villain.
I like peridot, but she doesn't HAVE to be evil... as long as it's explained well of course...
When will everyone stop putting other characters down to justify their favouritism of another character?
I can do that actually
>you just moved to a new town with your family. The town of Beach City, Maryland. Or maybe Delaware? You aren't really sure for some reason...
>Strange place, in the few hours since you pulled up with the moving van the mayor of the town drove up in a huge truck with his head on it to greet you and your family
>You got a free glowstick so whatev
>In the distance you see a crowd of multicolored figures approach your home. They're dressed very brightly - maybe they're cosplayers and there's a con nearby?
>As they draw closer you can make them out more clearly
>Leading the pack is a chubby little boy with a jew fro and a star on his shirt, waving at you enthusiastically
>Towering above them all is a giant black woman in a red jumpsuit and shades with hips that could crush a rock
>A stumpy thick chick painted purple is arguing with an anorexic ballerina with a shiny white rock on her forehead
>As they walk u to your fence you notice there's a fifth
>Shorter than even the purple one, would be as short as the kid if not for her triangular hair
>You snicker at a dorito joke that, for some reason, just crossed your mind
>You stop laughing as you get a better look at her
>Her proportions compared to the others are almost...normal. Better than normal in fact
>You start to unconsciously trace the curve of her hips and thighs with your gaze
>"HI! I'm Steven! Hey, down here!"
>Startled you pull your gaze from the green girl and look down. The kid must've ran up to you while you were distracted
>"Boy you sure were taking a good look at my friend Peridot! I can understand, sometimes I get caught up wondering how she gets her hair to stay like that!"
>You smile nervously "Heh, hair, right..." You notice this kid Steven's hand is outstretched so you grasp it and shake lightly. "I-I'm Anon."
>"Nice to meet you Anon!" he beams back. "You must be knew here. This is my family!"
there's no real need to be tall desu
they don't procreate, they just embody specific personality traits that are based off their gems.
if you're a masculine gem then you would want to seem imposing and dominant. but we only seen female gems.
a lot of this is linked with horoscopes
>Peridot should be fine with relationships she's been socially conditioned to find inappropriate!
Dude, if you were a giant gay and someone you took as a prisoner of war asked you to stop making out with your boyfriend because it made them uncomfortable wouldn't you laugh in their face about it?
Okay guys...... I've been loving the episodes...not a lot of fillers...but I get to this one..and WTF....did they seriously cross UNCLE FUCKING GRANDPA into this..... This would be funny if I wasn't actually loving Steven Universe....
Say Uncle is by far one of the best episodes. All the whining that lead up to the airing was gold, and the episode itself was by far the most amusing in the show.
It is also the only episode that takes the view off of Steven for a few minutes.
They started presumably because of Rose, but
>Earth allows them to live their lives as they choose,
-Garnet's Permafusion isn't looked down on by the other CGs or humans like Greg
-Pearl is able to be the master of her own life (barring her severe issues about Rose) and not just a pretty accessory and servant
-Amethyst is able to live in general, while she'd probably have been culled upon emergence for her defectiveness
In short, the Earth is freedom and sanctuary.
Fucking character limit
>He gestures back to the crowd of weird ladies. "These are the Crystal Gems! They protect the city from evil monsters and aliens and junk."
>This kid is off his rocker you think but you say nothing. Maybe they're just dedicated LARPers?
>"The really tall one is Garnet! She's supa strong!" Garnet raises her hand and waves hi ineffectually. "That's Pearl! She's really good at organizing things so if you need help putting stuff away let her know!"
>The ballerina blushes, or at least you think that weird blue tinge is a blush. "Well I don't know about really good, but if you need a helping hand and Steven's willing to help than so am I!"
>The chubby purple one pushes past Steven and offers her hand. "I'm Amethyst. If you ever want a good time blowing junk up lemme know, I can set you up."
>She winks at you. What a tryhard you think. You grab her hand and shake only to feel repulsed from the grease and...Cheeto dust? covering it
>You make a mental note to avoid her
>"And last but not least is Peridot!"
>He points to the green one. You make a special note to not forget her name, repeating it to yourself over and over in your head...
>"Hey, I was saying something!" she suddenly shouts at you
>Oh God you were so busy trying to remember her name you missed what she said
>"S-sorry," you stutter. "My mind tends to wander off sometimes."
>"Tch, Earthlings. You're all so...odd" She shakes her head and turns away from you, crossing her arms
>She called you an Earthling and yet thinks you're odd?
>Realize she's turned around, disregard everything to scope her ass
>Your feel light headed - her costume or uniform or whatever is skin tight and clings to her cheeks
>You can make out the life of her ass crack
>Her cheeks are almost perfectly round, extending for both just the right width and length, curving inward to her legs quite suddenly
>It's casting its own shadow
I like to think like this.
He has the most motherly and affectionate gem to be seen. With this as the basis of his powers, he blossoms most from helping others and supporting their issues.
But his weakness would be isolation, if his personality is motherly, and he is alone then there isn't really much he can support. This might be a future episode, and it'll be pretty scary, but steven will always have his friends and family to be there.
here's a neat tidbit about Jasper
>"Psychically, jasper is used to assist with astral travel. It brings a gentle but unassailable protection to the traveler and the silver cord."
>It is also a powerful protection stone in general and can be used in protection magic, in talismans and other places you want a strong but gentle protection.
a lot of gems descriptions and stories are linked to Metaphysics, it's not super deep but it's clever of Rebecca to have something to base a character off of.
I really for the life of me just can't get into this show
I actually am having a great deal of difficulty seeing how anyone could take this melodrama 11 minute episode crap even remotely seriously
I have become Abe Simpson
LINE of her ass crack, fucking dammit.
Apologies for the typos, I'm making this up as I go
>The jew kid is yelling for your attention again
>"Hey, I know you must think Peridot's hair is cool and all but we have lots to show you in Beach City! Come on, let's go out together! We were headed into town anyway!"
>"S-sure. Lemme just check with my parents."
>You go inside to break it to them. Normally they would be pissed at you bailing from housework but are so thrilled with you having made friends they let you go
>Follow the kid and the weird girls
>Make a special point to stand just behind Peridot
>"So town is so much fun! You're gonna love it here..." The kid, Steven, begins rambling about donuts and pizza and a pier or some shit
>You're too focused on what's in front of you
>You can see every jiggle in Peridot's ass, every ripple in her thigh muscle through the costume
>You can feel yourself getting hard so you look down to adjust your cargo shorts to hide the boner
>"So here's our first stop!" You here Steven say
>You're still walking and fixing your shorts
>You collide with the person in front of you and stumble
>practically fall right on top of her
>You just stumbled into Peridot's backside at full mast
4chan is home to aggressive and out of focused men that have blocked off their emotions and empathy for others. I was like that for a bit but I've been becoming more aware of myself and of others.
lashing out before opening up to your feelings is common in 18 to 25 year old men. otherwise known as the transition phase.
>Your fic someone requested is taking up space but my dumb ass question isn't
Anyway I need the writing practice and this is a free country
>"Ow! Hey, what the?" she exclaims. She turns around and steps away from you.
>"S-sorry" you stutter out
>"You poked me with something!" she accuses.
>"N-no I didn't"
>"Yes you did! Something poked me in the back!" She steps up to you angrily and begins patting you down. "Do you have a weapon hidden in there?"
>In the process of her pat down her hand brushes your erection
>You nearly faint from the nervousness and from the blood rush
>"PERIDOT!" the tall black one, (Grantine?) shouts at her. "That is very rude! You can't just go shoving you hands in strangers' pants!"
>Peridot gives her a defiant look but backs away
>You begin to breathe again
>"Just don't blame me if he's a double agent or something," she grumbles
>Steven makes his way to the three of you. "It's okay, it's okay! Anon, if you want a place with weapons, how about the pretend ones at the arcade?"
>Arcade sounds dank, and maybe the dark cool environment will keep you from sweating so much. "S-sure" you mumble, "let's do it."
You best continue
What's worse Ronaldot or Perithyst?
I actually really like Ronaldot
Not that I like Uncle Grandpa, but that episode was good.
It gave us crazy Pearl.
> I was like that
And youll hardly change if so. Nobody wants you here ( >>77811888
too) to make the "hate machine" a truth.
Too bad I lost the "where should I express my rage" image
>do they fuck her character up that badly?
What character? Her only "character" prior to Catch and Release was "NYEHEHE I'm the meme character!" If anything the direction they're taking with her is appropriate, considering that all she knows is to blindly follow orders from Yellow Diamond. Despite everything she's been conditioned to learn in the hivemind that is Homeworld, Peridot is now learning to understand that it's wrong to persecute gems for being lower class servants, malformed or defective, and soon, to be in love with one another, assuming they do a Peridot episode with Garnet.
>but I'm above people who I perceive as lowly slaves
>but disabled people cost me time and money
>but being gay is icky and I don't like it
>because I'm perfect, and I can't accept that some people are different
The theme of the show is love and acceptance. Everyone is flawed or functions atypically in some way shape or form. The best thing you can do as a person is to accept this, and work together with people who are different from you in order to understand each other's perspectives and reach a compromise of some sort. It's a great message, and I think it's cool that Peridot is trying her best to learn all this despite her background.
Season 1 was a fun, childlike adventure with moments of real peril mixed in with heartfelt joy. I loved it. It felt like the best moments of Neverending Story at times.
Season 2 feels like Sugar happened to realize that her cartoon had somehow become a rallying cry for minorities and social contrarians for some reason or another. She proceeded to steer straight into the # mentality and hasn't deviated since.
I gave up the series just after they full on made the ambiguously brown love interest the heroine and pretty much bequeathed the MC's magic sword to her because he's a short, fat, beta fuckup. I wanted to give it up right after they formed a magical hermaphrodite who was somehow THE SEXIEST THING IN THE WORLD AMIRITE GUYS IT'S NOT JUST ME WHO THINKS THIS RITE?! *GULPTIPSFEDORAGULP*
It makes more sense for Connie, who has utilized the sword effectively before and is learning more continually about swordplay, to use it than Steven who is learning a much more defensive, Captain America style with his gem power.
Her previous characterization was a cold and calculating villain who crushes the deformed underfoot. She then goes into a phase of continuing her missions while outsmarting and then outrunning the gems, always a step ahead of them in both senses of the word. I don't know why you'd consider her previous incarnation to be the "meme character" when that's literally what her new form and characterization is. It may have been present somewhat in her original form, but it's cranked up to 10 now while her actual cunning nature has been dropped to 0 so she can be a kooky clueless kid from space that somehow never saw rain before.
>make it gayer.png
Gotta disagree with Connie getting the sword, though, I think the Sword and Shield dynamic between her and Steven can be pretty cool.
Forgot image I'm an idiot.
Sorry, I needed to start some soup
>You walk into the arcade with the crowd
>"So this arcade belongs to Mr. Smiley, he's pretty awesome even if he does kind of hate me for that one time I wrecked the place. Just grab some quarters, head to a machine and start having fun! Here, as a moving in present!"
>He hands you a dollar worth of quarters
>Nice gesture, you think, he might be annoying but he isn't all bad. "Thanks Steven," you say.
>He nods and runs off to a machine, as does the chubby purple one
>the thin one and the tall one hang back at the entrance. When you look to them Garnet says, "Pearl's thing really isn't the arcade, and let's just say I have a history with these so it's not safe for me to go inside." She smiles and walks up to Peridot. "Peridot here, though, has never been to an arcade." She pushes Peridot towards you. "Why don't you to get to know each other?"
>Peridot scrunches her mouth and looks back to Garnet, "Hey, I never said I wanted to come here!"
>Garnet has her back turned and is walking to the exit with Pearl. "Have fun you two!" She says, disregarding the Peri-protest
>Peridot frowns and looks back at you. "Uh! She is so hard to deal with sometimes!"
>You smile sheepishly. "Y-yeah she does seem a little forceful,"
>Peridot groans and turns to the banks of blinking machines
>"So I assume you're familiar with the operation of these entertainment boxes?"
>"yeah, y-you could say that," you tell her.
>"Uh, this is such a waste of time, but technically the perma-fusion is our commander so technically we're under orders. Let's...plaaaay."
>The disgust in her voice in the word "play" was evident, but it turned you on.
>"L-let me pick out an arcade machine and I'll teach you," you volunteer
Don't get me wrong, she's cold and calculating (or at least, tries to be) but she quickly lost her grip on the situation as soon as she a) learned that the Crystal Gems were a thing, and b) became stranded/left for dead on earth after Jailbreak happened.
And yes, she crushed the robot because she didn't give a shit that it was broken/defective, meaning she lacked empathy. In her newer episodes, she kept that lack of empathy when interacting with Pearl and Amethyst, but the context of that characterization is different because she's not the one in control, nor does she have her limb enhancers or whatever the fuck they're called. She's also dealing with living beings that can explain to her why she's wrong, whereas in Homeworld, it's likely common practice to eliminate/disregard those who are perceived as weak, and not question it.
>"H-here's a good one"
>It's some sort of racing/wrecking game, "Road Killer"
>You've never heard of it but you can probably guess how to work it
>"So, this is entertainment? How does it work?" Peridot asks
>"W-well you have to get in the seat first," you explain. You clamber into the seat and put a quarter into the machine. "Let's see." You pick a car using the wheel and begin playing.
>Wrecking your car, the road, and other cars during the race gives you points you figure out. Peridot watches intently, leaning against the seat, her eyes scanning the screen
>Pretty standard fare but the game still takes you by surprise and you lose a life
>have to put in another quarter
>"This isn't an efficient angle of observation," Peridot complains.
>Without warning she puts a foot onto the plastic step in the seat
>All at once she pulls herself on top of you
>Peridot is sitting in your lap.
>"There we go," she remarks. "Now I have full observational range of the controls for this land craft simulation."
>Oh God oh shit you think. You thank Gemsus that the a/c in the arcade is on full blast, so at least you're not sweating.
>"Well, what's the hold up?" Peridot asks
>"I-I can't see the screen," you say truthfully - Peridot's hair is blocking your view of the game screen.
>"Let me adjust." She leans back on you, stretching her torso back so her head is by your shoulder
>Her ass is spread out on your lap, pressing heavily into your crotch. Her thighs are laid straight on top of yours, her head and hair leaning on your shoulder
>Your breathing becomes ragged but she doesn't notice
>"Well? Insert the playing token and get started!" She demands.
>Reason for hating the show is equally autistic.
How about, yunno, not being a complete sheep about watching a cartoon and constantly projecting the fanbase onto the show? Yunno, like a normal human being that watches Tv?
Pisses me off that I'm on 4chan and people still care that much about what others do and think.
Posts are gonna come a little slower since I need to balance this with actually working
>You somehow retain enough consciousness to play the game in front of you
>Peridot watches, her finger rubbing her bottom lip in contemplation, looking cute as fuck
>You're spending much more effort focusing on thinking of disgusting things in an effort to stay flaccid than concentrating on the game
>She stays stretched back, her hair resting on your shoulder
>at this angle her chest is right under your head
>You can't help yourself, you glance down for a second to scope her tits
>Two small yet perky mounds tightly squeezed under her jumpsuit
>at the bottom of her v-neck you can see the faintest bit of cleavage
>"HEEEEY!" she cries out suddenly
>You nearly shit a brick. Are you found out?
>"You just died. I think I know enough about the principles of this simulation to try it now."
>You nod, your mouth too dry to speak. You hold out a quarter with a shaking hand. She notices and raises an eyebrow. "Is something wrong?" she asks.
>"J-just afraid you might beat me." You choke out with a nervous smile
>She gives you an arrogant little smile back that makes your heart nearly leap out of your chest. "Yes, well, I was regarded as quite the pilot on my homeworld. Maybe you'll learn something from me!"
>She leans forward and inserts the quarter, grasping the wheel. "My turn!" she exclaims happily.
Lets be fair here, they were laying it on pretty fucking thick
It's saying that its metaphors are
Seriously, though: it's a problem with allegories in general that they're crude. Their messages suffer because analogies are always imprecise and allegories' especially so in order for the story-side of things to be workable, and their stories suffer when real-world baggage is addressed instead of the scenarios presented being considered on their own merits. Another example: when X-Men treats mutants as being metaphors for specific real-world oppressed minorities. Doesn't work for them, doesn't seem to be working for Steven Universe.
Can't say I agree with the whole "SJW" part but the red flag went up when Peridot basically said that Fusion is basically fucking, she basically asked her to stop having sex in front of her, it's like going to a party and there's two gay people dry humping on the on the sofa, and you ask then to stop because it's uncomfortable for everyone but they get offended because "so and so".
I honestly think that they're planning to have Peridot learn about how Ruby and Sapphire met, if not then that's going to be a huge hole that this show has made.
I don't think it's similar to "fucking" as much as Peridot she has to keep looking over her shoulder. We know Fusion is usually only used for combat on homeworld, and Peridot called Garnet "war machine" or something similar before.
Going to be honest, dont see why this ship is such a debate and hated upon, Stevens dad banged a 10,000 yr old space rock babe while he was only, what? 25? mid thirtys?
Honestly these two are a adorable pairing if done right, with Peridots thirst for understanding earth, and Steven being eager to please, will always give a creative explanation. they'll blend just fine. Steven is going through some serious shit in his life and he needs someone who can be there that isnt a mother figure, and though Connie is a wonderful person to Steven, she cant always be there for him.
thats just my take on all this
Homeworld views fusion only as a battle tactic for smashing shit, they don't see the relationship side of it at all.
So Peridot thinks of Garnet as a couple dwarves pointing a tank cannon at her head 24/7, which is why she's uncomfortable about it. Not because of the PDA factor.
>tfw peridot isn't tall anymore
>tfw peridot could have been a great jack spicer-like villain but nope, gotta pander to tumblr and redeem her
>tfw peridot is the only reason I am still watching this show
Where did it all go wrong?
More like you were kidnapped by a terrorist organization and while working on the project to help save the lives of everyone involved in this mess you ask their leader to stop casually pacing around with her gun as you work. She takes it the wrong way because you don't know what her and that gun has been through now your feet are cuffed to a radiator for making a reasonable request.
>You pull out because you hate babies.
you did good son.
Ehhh that's one what of looking at it, still Amy laughing at her own friends being roasted was pretty fucked up, and what makes things worse is that as soon as Peridot tells her that she was support to be big, she acts like she roasted even though she only said "LOL YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE BIGGER!"
I mean I understand that she has "brith problems" but it's not like she meant it in a bad way and it's not like she can't shapeshift herself to become bigger, and what get's me is the fact that they try to make it seem like Peri has to learn to watch what she has to has to say , NOT BECAUSE SHE SAID NASTY THINGS ABOUT THE OTHERS, but because Amy got offend and couldn't just talk to Peri about like-
>Amy: Can you not call me short....or talk about my friends.
>Steven:It's not nice to talk about people behind their backs.
What also kills me is that Amy doesn't tell the others or even talks to Steven about it, Wow the more I think about it, the more flawed this episodes seems.
Yeah not Amy's best Episode, good for shipbait though.
suite mommy jokes aside I say shes actually quiet
Speaks with her eyes and watches everything
Speaks very little words
No nonsense either, if Peridots actions say anything when she destroyed her broken robonoid she may just crush gems that fail her, only to put them in weapons or tools like Lapis
Thats what I get when I see her
My only complaint is that it turns into fucking too fast.
Would have been better if it started slower.
Like anon reluctantly explaining what a boner is. That you get them when you see someone that looks really appealing, and start to imagine doing "things" with them.
Then him reluctantly admitting that it's Peridot who caused it.
>"... The car game is this appealing for you?"
She then demands to see this weapon if it's truly for her.
>"It's not a weapon, it's a... 'Pleasure device'."
>"Well, this is a human pleasure facility, is it not?"
And so on...
Sardonyx arc was great, it's just the ending was a little flat.
>Having Steven and Amethyst say out loud that they're going to talk their problems out before Garnet and Pearl talk their problems out
>Sardonyx's slightly underwhelming second appearance
>The way Peridot escaped
You could tell the boarders were holding themselves back, like they were afraid that the kids won't "get" what was happening with Pearl and Garnet or whatever. Which is weird since that's not how they usually are with every other episode.
>Peridot literally says she feels "big" at the end of the episode
>Anons are too fucking warped in their own petty bullshit to understand the episode was about being the bigger person
the only thing wrong with House Guest is the terrible animation/style. Sadie's Song was fundamentally shit and can't even use bad art to justify how awful it is even without crossdressing(which was actually the best part of that abortion)
Yeah, and Louis CK "The Fat Lady Sings" is actually a stealth satire of fat people because people jog past the fatass in her ending monologue.
I don't like people like Sugar because they can't double down on anything. They have little outs here and there, like "I feel big", but it's inconsequential to the fact that the meat of the episode was that Peridot was in the wrong for hurting Amy's fee-fees. A throwaway line doesn't change that.
>Sadie's Song was fundamentally shit
No it wasn't. The fundamentals are actually the one thing you can't complain about it, it's got a basic plot, a decent song, and some jokes. What's the problem.
Man you can't ignore what's in the episode just because it's inconvenient to your rants. The episode was depicting a complicated social interaction and you have to water it down to complain about it. Peridot WAS in the wrong but not in the way you're talking about. Amethyst being inconsiderate towards others IS something you're supposed to deliberately consider instead of brushing over as an inconsistency like you're doing. And in the end you SHOULD apologize to people that you hurt. The episode wasn't just about Peridot making jokes. It's about Peridot hurting somebody she didn't want to hurt. What do you think the solution to that is? Double down on her shitty joke and yell "GET OVER IT" to Amethyst?
>Asking people on 4chan if they think the appropriate response to people disliking a shitty joke is to double down on the shitty joke
you keked up you big desu
Haven't watched the show in ages cause they never rerun it anymore and I can't be assed to marathon.
You telling me that Peridot had a redemption arch? How in the hell? She fucking Frankensteined all those gems together to create abominations like some sort of space-hitler and now she's good?
Garnet acted like that was the worst thing she's ever seen, and now she's fine with her?
The majority of the episodes are complete, as of a couple months ago the crew confirmed they were currently wrapping up production on the Season 2 finale and starting the outline for Season 3. Having an entire season queued up for an 11 minute show is a little ridiculous.
>What's the problem
The episode was boring and irrelevant and than this happened to set it over the edge as the very worst Steven Universe has ever produced by an incredibly large margin.
It's very good, but I really hope that we'll get to see Steven fusing with Pearl, or any Gem soon.
What's with that image, anon?
That's not what I remember happening.
Steven in drag was a very dark day for the show, indeed. I nearly dropped the show but thankfully the very next episode was Catch and Release.
I don't get why that's so bad? It was a joke, not the best but akin to other cartoons where male characters take the place of female characters by wearing female clothing.
Shit's been going on since bugs bunny.
If it were a joke someone in the audience would have reacted in a way that indicates it's humorous intent. They played it entirely "straight." I don't think a show about rock dykes would joke about crossdressing. If you can't see the obvious difference between Steven going on stage in drag with people cheering him on and Bugs Bunny dressing in drag to be a jackass you're either very retarded or very disingenuous.
I'll never understand why people make this such a big deal. Like Spongebob has never been in drag or like a LOT of other cartoon characters haven't been in drag. It was played for laughs but you guys are so insecure about the boners you got that you felt offended or "triggered".
It wasn't played for laughs though. This is the very first reaction from the audience and they don't seem to be laughing. Just because you're a transmisogynistic shitlord who thinks men in dresses is a fucking joke doesn't mean they meant it as a joke.
Looks like they're watching a kid do something ridiculous and finding it endearing like people often do.
I mean what the fuck did you expect? Some one to hop on stage, slap Steven, and tell him "NO. Boys are NOT supposed to dress that way."
Oh it's just Steven being Steven, he wears boys clothes every episode, likes a girl, will end up with a better girl, and will become the shounen hero we all see him becoming.
>OH BLOOHOO THERE ARE LESBIANS IN THIS SHOW ABLOOBLOOBLOO.
What about spongebob being thought of as gay for the last ever?
I mean he acts pretty unmanly.
>Has a garden
>Played the mother to Patrick being the father
>"Am I a pretty girl?"
I could go on.
Played for laughs and could not be argued any other way and someone in each scenario reacts in a way that indicates the silliness of it.
What exactly was funny about it? You being a cishit who laughs at people struggling with their gender identity?
I know this is pretty late but the episode definitely puts Amethyst in a bad light too. Peridot was trying to be funny because Amethyst is supposed to be her superior, and since she was laughing at the mean things she was saying about her Peridot went too far with it.
Amethyst was offended but she wasn't trying to get Peridot to apologize, because it's obvious she's partially responsible for what happened.
The moral of the episode wasn't "If you get offended you're always in the right", it was "apologizing when both of you are in the wrong make you the bigger person."
>Played for laughs and could not be argued any other way and someone in each scenario reacts in a way that indicates the silliness of it.
Back with photographic evidence, will return with more.
She never made them. She was really inspecting their progress since it ties to the doomsday weapon that will destroy the Earth
Now that she's stuck on Earth, she's forced to help the Crystal Gems
Even so she's spent most of her time being racist towards everyone, but obviously slowly gets better because STEVEN
I feel like this portrayal of the Homeworld gems is wrong.
Lapis should be clinging to Jasper's shoulders and pulling her hair hard for it to be accurate.
that pic screams aceptance
fuck that shit
>muh bugs bunny
payed for laughts
that Steven U. part is not played for laugts.
/ug/ really defend every agenda thaat Sugar put on the show. Fucking sad.
because screams "muh politics agenda" just like other episodes from S2. That's why i dropped this show.
The episode is not for the jokes , but people look Steven like accepting he as a drag. Celebrating , those animations sparkle eyes , etc.
Screams agenda for me.
Compare S1 with S2 , literally S4-S5 AT tier of fall.
Why is that your go to response? Is that some sort of tumblr projection horseshit? How about because it's faggy as shit and fucking disgusts me? No boners, no arousal, it's disgusting. Is that how you make yourself feel better? "They only hate because they don't understand and it makes them feel funny in their trousers!" I understand it perfectly. There are mentally damaged individuals who are so far in denial that they live with their delusions and force society as a whole to acknowledge them as something they'll never be, in an attempt to gradually normalize this they produce children's media that preaches tolerance and acceptance so they don't need to face the fact that there's actually something wrong with them and they need psychiatric help.
Not enough Lapis. I hope we get a Lapis song sometime.
Was round my friend's house this weekend, and put on CN UK while they were out.
> Season 1 Episode 51
> Story for Steven
Looks like we're getting them in the original order, pre-Bomb rearrangement.
BUT WHICH IS THE TRUE ORDER
Who do you want Yellow Diamond's voice actor to be?
While >>77823951 has a good point, Rose probably holds that title, but that would have to be past tense. The scale of gay from most to least probably goes:
Still don't know enough about Lapis or Peridot to guess how hard in the beans they are.
More than that, she was politely asking Garnet to stop existing. I'd have been kinda pissed too.
Peridot's basically that one homeschooled kid who's booksmart as hell, but never got out much and had their head crammed full of racist opinions by their parents.
oh fuck steven, garnets gonna kill me
but what if i fucking die like rose did delivering it
fuck im so screwed steven
its alright steven
maybe if we blame amethyst like usual she'll take all of the blame
maybe we should blame peridot instead
i dont want amethyst killed
garnets gonna find out Pearl
and connies gonna stab me
i guess it is kinda obvious that im pregnant
I liked the Sardonyx arc because of how consequences of Pearl´s actions weren´t just a simple "haha everyone makes mistakes, you´re forgiven". When a friend lies to you, it is complicated.
i wonder what gemstone the baby'll have
we have to try to remain positive
maybe the baby will be a good thing
who the hell are you
i think that may be it
if you don't like the show's politics, don't watch it, fuck. but you're gonna have to face the fact that some people are just more tolerant and accepting than you are.
I feel it would be a bit strange to keep her around this long otherwise.
But who knows, both she and Lapis seem to be the most incompatible with assimilation into freedom on Earth and partnership with the Gems.
I really don't see them joining the main crew, but I think they'll both find resolution, and maybe even happiness if they're lucky.
Look man, when you truly love someone like I love my wetfu, you can overlook their flaws
if you haven't read pug davis hop on that shit
