To be fair Kickstarter has become a breeding ground for scams from acclaimed creators and "creators".

I don't see how anyone can have a problem with Patreon though, it's literally just paying for a product, and if they don't deliver the product they don't get paid. It's no different from selling art or merchandise, it's just much easier.
