HEY HEY LET'S GO
OH FUCK IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trying to identify these.
The black guy and the blonde chick are obviously Kelly and Michael.
GX is Megyn Kelly, maybe?
Al Sharpton, obviously.
O'Brian is Bill O'Reilly.
I don't know if the "plates are full because they're pigs" guy is Jon Stewart.
Some were included with this release so you'll be getting those
They're the same as the ones included with the Comixology release
Math is a construct of the patriarchy
Batman has also beat up bad cops though
Architecture is a construct of the patriarchy
Id rather this book looked like Millers ten because this is extremely boring in both line work and colour work. Not someting DKSA levels of insane but its not interesting to look at right now
*hurr hurr hurr hurr*
i am the (k)night
>and people say miller isn't a liberal
did everyone forget his extreme far left views in DKR or Elektra Assassin? supporting the war on terror doesn't make him "right wing", it just makes him a lefty who supports the war on terror.
But Holy Terror
>He’s powerful, ugly, Eastwood-mad, with Kirby fists and a noticeable dick. This isn’t by mistake, it’s not lack of control.
Wonder who's gonna wear the mantle now?
Seeing as Miller's writing DK IV already.
Holy terror, was miller's emotional reaction.
Don't forget the man is extremely empathic.
Same. I think it's something with it being Dark Knight, it just doesn't fit. And the coloring is just as bad. It looks like a completely average superhero book.
Yeah, Pope would have been incredible.
Maybe it's him saying that women are inhrently less capable and are "bleeding hearts" and Bruce is gonna come back and set shit straight. Idk man. All bets are off with this guy.
DK were both also famous for having more than just the basics on art, and this is... very inconsistent. So's the colouring.
DC house style: like spoiling 90% of what they publish wasn't enough, it's killed their only major event this year.
Actual Officially Published Wonder Woman Nudity!!!
>DC house style: like spoiling 90% of what they publish wasn't enough, it's killed their only major event this year.
What the god damn fuck are you talking about?
Jason Fabok's work on Darkseid War is fucking Phenomenal you worthless sack of fucking shit!
Desperately Wish Lee Bermejo was drawing this...
I think he's talking about Convergence
But you are right, Darkseid War is the real DC event of the year, the only reason it isn't it's own separate series is that Johns wouldn't be able to manage JL and Darkseid War separately.
No, I like Cliff Chiang, Pic relarted is one of my Favorite Green Lantern Images, and there is nothing wrong with different styles, but they need to fit the book. And Dark Incredibly Epic stuff like Darkseid War needs a dark epic detailed artist which is what we have gotten.
Actually Miller said in interviews that Holy Terror was just him doing a formal exercise in what a modern equivalent of WWII era propaganda comics where superheroes would beat up hitler would look like.
This was a good first book, I enjoyed it more than I thought I was. Granted I walked into the story a pessimistic fucktard being like, "hurr durr... Millur sucks and he hasn't written anything gud past year one." But this was surprisingly okay for me, and one that I'll pick up next week or so.
I liked this, but man Miller's art is rough these days. Definitely better than TDKSA, but I wish they would have hired a Miller rip-off artist instead, like that guy who wrote the recent Iron Fist.
I thought the whole point of DKSA was that a whole new generations of heroes was back and everything was going crazy.
Now we're back to old Batman status quo. And the modern coloring is shit. 7/10. I would rather crazy Millar over this.
Oh, what a load of DOG SHIT
A couple of black dudes fuck around and get their dumb asses shot by the cops, and suddenly we have to hear about it in every comic book being produced today? I'm sick of that shit
This pretty much captures the stupidity of most mainstream discussions about the cops these days.
They're either "heroes doing a thankless job and protecting our lives" or "trigger happy pigs who throw us in cages and shoot black people for fun".
God forbid there be any middle ground to that discussion. God forbid somebody calls them what they are. Human beings doing a hard but necesdary job who occassionally screw up just like the rest of us.
Shit OP, why didn't you post this entire masterpiece?
This art fucking sucks. I can't even read this anymore.
Kubert's art leaves much to be desired anyway, but seeing page after page of uninspired bullshit, which is lazily aping Miller's peak style, is nauseating. That's not even a hyperbole. Fuck this book.
im not a capefag , i read comics in general, but i came to read this expecting the best of the best the cape genre has to offer, taking this is the dark knoght rises, but the art is nothing to write home about, i guess the writing is average, but its a first issue.
Samefag, just fuck off already. Is this what all DK3 threads are gonna be like?
>durr miller is a sjw now
>THIS ART IS TERRIBLE
>I wish this book was drawn by someone who draws nothing like frank miller because im a idiot.
Why would this be the "best of the best of the cape genre" when Miller hit his peak 30 years ago? This is a book for people that want a conclusion to all the shit he set up in Dark Knight Strikes Again, which wasn't a particularly good book.
>people ITT who think DK1 is called Dark Knight Rises
>and think DK2 is called Dark Knight Strikes Back
Opinions immediately discarded. Go read comic books and not movies.
Is that what it is? I thought she was flying because she preferred flying to walking.
Which helps establish to the reader how detached she is from humankind.
>and ignore sensationalist media.
No tv, internet and radio...right.
Facts are boring brub.
Also it literally does not affect anyone, we are at a point where the media has created a wacky reality of their own that does not reflect the real world any longer.
It is kinda like /pol/, the world they LIVE in is hilarious.
this whole project seems half-assed as fuck, but I see a pattern there...
DKR (Miller) - Arkham Asylum (Rocksteady)
DKR2 (Miller) - Arkham City (Rocksteady)
DKR3 (DC) - Arkham Origins (WB)
DKR4 (Miller) - Arkham Knight (Rocksteady)
>in the back of every DC comic this week there's a mini interview where Miller keeps reiterating that this story is all Azzarello's and he just consulted on a few things
>this is another Before Watchmen only with the approval of the original creator
Man, DC rused everyone hard.
Didn't you read DK2?
So your saying the stories and plots the artist are chosen for are boring but the art is good?
What isn't boring to you? I bet you like Squirrel Girl and Prego Spider Woman, burn in hell fucker.
But where's Aleka to be madly tsun tsun with Diana?
Came here just to see how hard /co/ was flipping out over this. I expected more "OMG WONDY NIPPLE" and comments about the attempt to reproduce SMS speak and less Blacks vs Cops but in general you didn't disappoint.
8/10, would fan the flames.
What did you think about the first issue thus far? Did you enjoy it? What would you score it in terms of entertainment value?
As for me I came in reading the comic with a "meh" attitude thinking it would suck. I mean it's been a while since I dived into a Frank Miller story, the last being Holy Terror, and holy shit was that bad. But the first issue of DK III Master Race was all too good in reintroducing the me back into the Dark Knight Returns universe I love all too much.
I'm glad that the comic reflects upon our modern world with approaches like relaying information via social networking, the current stance on cops and black youths, and touching upon police brutality. All handled greatly in my opinion to the point of wondering how much Azzarello really contributed to the story instead of letting Frank write it entirely.
Wonder Woman and Clark's child having significance is good in that Frank remembered that awkward fucking scene from DKSA and this was the pay off, I think?
Only a few questions come to mind:
What happened to the dumb as fuck Cat Girl persona?
Will the Flash be brought up again?
Where will the Atom story go?
Lex Luthor mention?
News in the Nude reference possibility?
The Joker like person from DKSA?
Oh.. And Batman of course.
As for the score I'm leaning towards a 7.8/10
Meh. I enjoyed it as much as I would literally any other random Batman comic. Absolutely nothing stand out so far. But they are clearly setting up 3 different story arcs so ill read the rest.
How many issues in total? 6?
Man, I was totally enjoying this. Too bad Miller just seems to have a hard on for writing Supes as limp dick though. THis makes no sense after how he was portrayed at the end of DKSA, shit as it may have been.
You'd think working on a sequel to one of the seminal books in DC history (and DKSA) would make Andy Kubert raise his game. But no. It's the same shit he's been doing since forever.
And not getting someone, you know, good to do the colors, but going with Brad "house colorist" Anderson. This is the guy you get to color a Geoff Johns book he plans on bailing out on after 8 issues. Couldn't they've thrown some money at Dave Stewart or McCaig? Fuck, the woman that did Azzarello's 100 Bullets would be great.
Yeah I don't understand why they couldn't shell out for someone like Paul Pope. I mean he's worked with DC multiple times and he's a long time friend of Miller.
Instead we get Andy Kubert the artist form Flashpoint and post Jim Lee X-Men.
The worst Robin ever became Batman? Haha, Wow, DC thought this was a good idea, haha
>still believing in a "house style"
Millerverse Batman has a fucked up timeline.
Batman Year One: 1970's
Holy Terror: 2011 or so (reference to Bay's Transformers and Osama bin Laden's death)
All Star Batman: Has to take place post 1998 because Barbara Gordon has Gen 13 and Frank Miller's 300 on her bookshelf
Spawn/Batman: Deals with post-Cold War weapons
DKR: obviously 80's with Reagan as President
DK2: early 00's
Yeah but I think it's hilarious to think that somehow Obama and Bush were president at the time Batman was fighting terrorists and recruiting Robin and then by the time he's 50 suddenly Reagan is President instead. And then after Reagan is the DK universe version of Prez Rickard who's like an computerized amalgam of Bush and Gore (Miller said the president wasn't supposed to represent just one of the candidates)
We'd all be foolish if we expected more from Kubert.
Remeber those siamese trplets conjoined at their back from Morrison & Quitely's inagural arc of Batman & Robin?
This is how Kubert drew them. Just three separate guys in jumpsuits.
Where did that baby came from?
Horrible dialogue and/or layout design, I don't get it at all
>ill take the boy
>Im sorry my reaction was
I mean I get she reacted aggressively because of what she said, but the way it was done it's just so akward
>Jesus, cops are bad I fucking get it already.
No you don't.
>People who obviously don't go to /co/ regularly
Year One: Gotham had a Swat Team that regularly went overboard. They bombed a building just to get Batman.
All Star Batman: Gotham cops still willing to beat up reporters and kidnap a kid to make him change his story.
I can't wait to send this to my cousins. They lost their dad (a cop) last year.
Holy Terror was originally intended to be a Batman story that took place half a year after Batman: Year One. At this time, Gordon was still a Captain and someone else was Commissioner. Here you can see Fixer/Batman saying that the unnamed Commissioner was responsible for letting the terrorist attacks on Empire City/Gotham City happen.
>I'm glad that the comic reflects upon our modern world with approaches like relaying information via social networking, the current stance on cops and black youths, and touching upon police brutality. All handled greatly
Honestly anyone who's read Miller's Batman up to this point knows that the vast majority of Millerverse Gotham cops are supposed to be the most corrupt even in spite of Jim Gordon's efforts to change it.
So just pretend that in Millerverse, everyone who was actually a bad cop in other cities and precincts gets transferred to Gotham or something.
>Or people who usually prefer different comics.
If you've been reading other comics and never read Miller's Batman you wouldn't have reason to be in a DKIII thread other than to pretend there's some kind of controversy.
The BLM thing is a bit silly and a hamfisted attempt of being topical but it actually works within context of Gotham because the cops there are actually corrupt as fuck and that guy probably WAS doin nuffin.
I'm a dutch diplomat, you drooling fuckwit. I know Fascism when I see it and TDKSA was explicitly Fascist. I'm not stating that as a positive or negative, I'm just saying how it is.
so where the fuck you guys see this shit show going?. its not gonna happen but god i wish that Bruce is actually dead. frank talking about wanting to do a carrie detective book is the only crumb of hope
No , shit bag cops who abuse their authority are horrible people. Unfortunately instead of weeding out the bad ones that fuck it up for everyone else on the force who i9sn't a scumbag and actually do their jobs. They instead protect the bad ones with their "blue wall" bullshit and any cop who attampts to speak out about it is ostracized ( if not worse) by his or her peers.
No not all cops are bad, however the fucking institution has deep rooted fucking issues that need to be addressed, sadly that will never happen because of many factors from Racism, and the upper class that doesn't give a fuck since poor/minorities are the only ones being victimized so...who gives a fuck right?
It's only going to get worse too. So long as they are antagonistic toward certain communities, instead of building trust within that community. ( because at the end of the day EVERYONE wants to be safe from crime and go about their day without getting robbed shit etc) But instead they treat that community with no respect, or dignity because of whatever hang ups they have and bring to their jobs and then wonder why they are hated.
Respect goes both way. If they are not seeing us as human , why the fuck should we see them as human? Why should we be sad when they get shot?
Respect goes both ways
I know none of this will register to you but i try, dammit. I am trying hard not to lose faith in humanity
>If they are not seeing us as human , why the fuck should we see them as human? Why should we be sad when they get shot?
Have you considered that other people being terrible doesn't mean good people have to sink to their level to match?
No they don't have to sink to their level. But when the same thing keeps happening over and over , you don't think it's normal for someone to start to develop a hatred for someone who obviously hates and wants to do harm to them?
Lets say you and your friends and just walking down the hallway in your school and a bunch of assholes comes and kicks your asses. Every day. because they can.
How are you going to feel about them? Serious question.
But the headmaster has done so in most of such cases. That cop in Chicago who shot a black guy sixteen times has been fired and charged with murder. The Freddy Gray cops are all on trial right now. Another cop in Georgia was sentenced to 15 years in jail.
There are other instances such as Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown where the headmaster's actions aren't satisfying to you, which isn't the same thing. In the latter case, the analogy is more like you picked a fight with another kid at school, assaulted him, and in retaliation he lashed back hard enough to do serious damage, like disfiguring you or something. Now you want him punished even though you started the fight because the damage he did was greater than the damage you did, even though there would have been no damage at all but for your actions. It doesn't work like that.
Man, the Miller/Janson art in this backup story is soooo much better than the main book. Not to mention the fucking awesome premise it sets up.
I mean, the colouring still doesn't work, but it's still not as bad as the main story.
GCPD in Year One was Hollywood corrupt. Realistic depictions of corruption in that book were mainly based on shit that went on inside the NYPD. And the bombing thing actually happened in real life, believe it or not.
What we're seeing here is obviously meant to mirror this Black Lives Matter bullshit that's been going on, and most of the incidents they protest against are justified shootings that the media puts an inflammatory spin on.
Just finished reading it I think it should have felt more closer to the era its from it felt too modern especially with the cellphone instant messages I can't really place this story in the same world as the last that was basically in the 80s but still I don't know it just doesn't seem good
Ah I did not know that I never read DKSA so I was a little lost with the wonder woman part
that's interesting that would mean this is 20 years after Dark Knight Returns I would assume old age has taken pretty much everyone then
Am I the only one who thought HE CAME EVERYWHERE HE CAME ON EVERYTHING
>You taught us to be that way
At first I assumed she was talking about Superman.
Is it she talking about Batman though?
I'm probably dumb or in denial, but why is Superman on ice? Did he lose motivation or something?
The previews looked good but the new-style coloring is kind of ruining this. I can see every Photoshop round-brush stroke and "Vivid Light" layer. Maybe these jpegs are just too big on my monitor...
Technically all babies are fuckbabies. Dont give me that MUH JESUS bullshit, Mary was a lying whore.
>She's a cunt
IF by this you mean she is one of the billions of women who would not fuck you before you go on your inevitable virgin/rage/murder/suicide; yes, she is a 'cunt'.
>yfw those kryptionians take over the Earth, then Bruce comes back and blows them the fuck out
>All he says is that it won't go over well
>Makes no mention of /pol/ or tumblr
>You respond by ranting about them "whiny polacks"
Looks like you're the bitch here anon.
>just walking down the hallway in your school and a bunch of assholes comes and kicks your asses
niggers? why didnt you mention rape, kill and steal and say it's racism to not let them?
>I don't even know what I'm complaining about anymore
Even if it's a reaction to recent events, so what? It fits in with Dark Knight Gotham.
>And the bombing thing actually happened in real life, believe it or not.
If the bombing in Batman Year One was based on a real thing then why would you give a shit that the recent news about shootings also got included? If you were complaining about a regular Marvel or DC comic it's one thing but a comic where corrupt cops were usually the norm? Where Batman once told Dick "Never talk to cops. Not in Gotham" and that Gotham cops would "kill you as soon as look at you"?
Holy shit this article is retarded. Somehow because David Tennant was the doctor in doctor who that means that he is the embodiment of the geek culture and that it takes that to another show.
Pope woulda been amazing
> mistaking libertarian liberalism for leftie liberalism
Why are people so retardedly simple when it comes to politics? It isn't left and right, black or white.
Even this cartesian plane is oversimplified.
I'm fucking hooked so far. I'm on board with everything going on and can't wait to see what happens next, holy shit.
It's cool to see Frank Miller be involved in something really good again.
>I'm not dead yet.
Don't push it, Frank.
