This show will have a 1000 think pieces before it's even released. Verge has already done one. For me it's because Andrews likes to write these dark edgy as fuck stories, like cancerous Spider-sperm. Danny was out of character for me, yeah he was mad as fuck when he got back to NY, but his buddies helped him. Danny wasn't mad anymore, and this isn't just in IFF, other writers wrote him as happy but serious when he needed to be. He was acting happy and goofing off in Might Avengers (Ewing), but in Andrews' story he was angry again. It didn't make sense to me.

A surprising amount of people think he entered K'un-Lun as an adult, and was 'humbled' by the inhabitants of the city and helps them out. Like Kevin Coster in "Dances with Wolves", but with Asian people and not Native-Americans. When it comes to that I can understand why people would like it to be a bit less inflammatory and the best way could be to change his race to an American of Asian descent going back to his root/cultural heritage, but Danny was raised there since he was a child, he's culturally K'un-Lian NOT American, that what he goes back to.

Let’s take a trip back to the 70’s. Luke is a black man imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, and then treated horribly by prison staff when he is jailed. Luke's character comments on poverty, institutionalised racism and police brutality. They fact that he is best friends with a white rich guy who part of the 1%, that he considers his brother is pretty damn exceptional. Which was one of the whole draws of putting them together in the first place. I remember reading something about how Danny (a WASP) and Misty (a hard-nosed black cop)'s relationship was controversial, back in that day. Everyone's race, including Danny's was extremely relevant.

And, yes you're right, he creates a really good counter-point to all the other superhero billionaires like Tony Stark, who thinks that they're above everything and take the whole world in their own hands, he however thinks of the person on the street. I don't know about you, but I've always liked that about that character.

I want casting diversity was much as the next, and I'd support an Asian-American Danny Rand if it didn't change the tapestry around him. Danny Rand is one of the few white characters whose ethnicity is actually important.

I started reading the 2007 iron fist run last night.

It's really fucking good. The whole 7 magical cities thing and iron fist's imbuing their weapons with chi etc. It's a really engaging story, but it doesn't seem like something you can tell without having a 12-13 episode series, there is just too much iron fist world to build. 2 episode mini arcs separated by a single episode backstory on a previous iron fist while Danny searches for answers/roughs up henchmen. y/n
