Marvel peaked in the 80s and hasn't been there since

Discuss.
>>
>>77600243
That's a legit question, actually.
>>
>>77600243
bronze age marvel was best marvel
what was DC peak?
>>
>>77600274
Pym particles.
>>
>>77600243
*70s
>>
>>77600286
90s
>>
>>77600286
80s or 90s. 80s had all the good team books but 90s was when all the scouting of Brit writers started producing its best fruit.
>>
Faggots are stuck in the 80s and can't keep up.
>>
There's nothing to discuss. Between the pandering to collectors and the resulting crash, the liefeldisation of the art and I bet some other things as well, Marvel got fucked up HARD in the nineties and never really recovered.
>>
>>77600389
You can still make a case for 80s. All the Moore stuff, Morrison on Animal man and Doom Patrol and Teen Titans and LoSH and Suicide Squad...
>>
>>77600243
There's nothing to discuss. You're right.
>>
>>77600274
>>77600330
Yeah they probably stay the same size. She has very tiny wasp wings somewhere on her back.
>>
>>77600286
Everything between COIE and Infinite Crisis is pretty solid
>>
>>77600274
it's not a question, stupid
>>
The kids of today should educate themselves into the eighties.
>>
>>77600528
Pretty much this. DC started going downhill once silver age pandering took effect.
>>
>>77600535
disregard that, I suck cocks
>>
>>77600535
>it's not a question, stupid
i was talking about the pic nigga
>>
>>77600243
I think things are pretty fucking geat from around 1967-68 until the Image guys left.
>>
>>77600480
>She has very tiny wasp wings somewhere on her back.
ewww
>>
>>77600545
Says you.
>>
>>77600571
I think things started falling apart slightly before that with all the X-events and stuff.
>>
Marvel peaked in the 70s. DC probably peaked in the 90s or early 00s. Both of them are pretty sad right now apart from a handful of standouts.
>>
>>77600650
>Marvel peaked in the 70s
Debatable. After Lee and Kirby left, things became chaotic and comics began to miss deadlines. Cosmic and horror were fine, though.
>>
>>77600545
I like 52, which comes just after IC, but I largely agree.
>>
>>77600243
I dunno but 80s Cap was best Cap.
>>
>>77600622
Yeah, that's fair, but we weren't weary of all that shit quite yet.
>>
>>77600545
>not liking Johns
DC BENDIS! DC BENDIS!
>>
>>77600759
I don't really like Johns. I liked IC which led me to buy the first two JSA omnis, which were not to my taste. They are not bad, really, but so many of the threats the JSA face are internal or nearly so, like Black Adam, that I can't help but think the world would be safer without them around. The Virus arc in Jl(a?) comic with the threat originating fromthe actions of a tema member seemed like more of the same to me.
And SBP, too, honestly.
>>
>>77600849
>I don't really like Johns but I read all his books
>>
>>77600868
And? The more you know about something, the more qualified you are to give an opinion of it.

There's nothing wrong in admitting you actually like Johns, anon.
>>
>>77600868
Like I said, I liked IC. I bought the omnis at the same time based on that. It took me literally months to get through them. I only finished them out of a sense of obligation because I spent so much.
I read the first couple of issues of Virus here.
Further, I like to give a writer a second chance before I stop reading their stuff. Sometimes I change my mind.
But fuck me for having an informed opinion, I guess.

After Lee became president of Marvel, Roy Thomas started allowing people to become far more experimental, and I definitely think that helped the brand stand out the most

>>77600727
Ehh, I'd kind of argue more in favor of Tales Of Suspense/WW II Cap, but I'm biased and that was sort of my introduction to the character via the cartoon adaptation

Stern/Byrne Cap is some primo shit. for the like 12 issues it ran
>>
>>77601062
I like to read things in hard copy for the first time. I have a huge shelf, and this is really the only time that policy has fucked me.
I'll just sell them for twice what I paid when they go OP, though, anon. Omnis are crazy like that.
>>
>>77601084
That was shit editorial mandate
>>
>>77601142
>another speculator
The kids of today should defend themselves against the nineties.
>>
Fuck no. Cape comics on the whole peaked in the Bronze Age and everything since has been flashes of brilliance in an era of shit. I will give it to Vertigo for having a wonderful run in the early 90's but all of that was overshadowed by horrible X-Men comics.
>>
>>77601169
And this?
>>
>>77601189
your response.
>>
>>77601222

Yeah Cap as an isolationist is weird. that said it's like never turned out well for the usa when they do that shit.
>>
>>77601222
O I AM LAFFIN
>>
>>77601222
>we do not, after all, go around our own world and alter governments whose policies we disagree with
I really hope Cap was talking about the Avengers here and not being incredibly naive about the USA.
