Changed from one dimensional retarded princess scientist to morally gray tyrannical monarch of a kingdom she genetically engineered.
K, you are allowed to have opinions, but you are wrong.
It depends, if you wanted to be exactly like season 1-2 then dont watch it but if you thought season 6 was a disaster then this one is a big improvement and feels more like season 4 and 5
If by this show, you mean Stakes, then yes.
If by this show, you mean Adventure Time, then no. There's been tons of stuff focusing on Finn and it all sucked. Need I remind you of the comet bullshit?
I think season 4 and 5 are mostly ok, but I really don't give a shit about Marceline. To me, she's one of the least interesting characters in the show. Rebellious teenage girl with troubled past. Got it.
Do we learn anything about the other characters?
I getting fuckong of all these /co/ lesbians, both in comics and in cartoons.
Korra was bad and there was literally not set up for the fucking yuri end, the only reason it happend was that people hated KorraMako so much for what they did to Asami.
Marvel has like not one but TWO Proud Lesbian PoC(TM) Captain Americas.
And now suddenly, DC needs to make a big fuss whenever they make a character bisexual.
I honestly thought that with each subsequent lesbian, the previous ones and any possible new one would get devalued, like there was a bubble on the progessive coin. But DC and Marvel still seem to think that adding a two hot chicks making out on their books is the comic equivalent of a Selma March or something.
Do they honestly think I going to go out of my way to buy a book for the mear CHANCE that I might see two girls going at it when there are a metric fuck ton of lesbian erotica and/or romance stories that come from Japan every year? Some of them actually wroten by out of the closet lesbians.
And of course, gay man get shafted.
Half the time it just feels exploitative and it doesn't feel like we've moved on beyond pic related.
The lesbian couples in Sandman were some of the most realistic and believable I've seen and that came out like 25 years ago.
>Half the time it just feels exploitative and it doesn't feel like we've moved on beyond pic related.
>The lesbian couples in Sandman were some of the most realistic and believable I've seen and that came out like 25 years ago.
What is it that you want, then?
Also, you sound like a Tumblrina.
Is it so much to ask for Finn-centric episodes that aren't retarded? The comet and "solution" to the dad the human arc were so fucking terrible, but I really like Finn and Jake. Episodes where they just pal around and solve problems are the best.
>Is it so much to ask for Finn-centric episodes that aren't retarded?
Yes because it seems like any mention of certain characters or callback to any episode people hated makes people throw out the whole episode.
It's about Marceline but it goes into her past (not like the Ice King ones) and explains how she got her powers, why she's a vampire etc.
It's the only time you'll have AT tease something then do it the NEXT episode too.
What is with the weird semi-mystical, only half-explained stuff?
I know adventure time has never really explained anything fully. That's part of what makes it fun.
But the shit with the comet and oorgalorg at the end of the last one, and the weird shit Marceline does to the dank cloud in the finale of Stakes just leaves a little too much to question for my tastes.
This, only I never liked Marcy. PB is a fun character who is only dragged down by romantic entanglements (Autism Time is a fun show that is only dragged down by romantic entanglements.)
I still can't believe he married Amanda Palmer. I know you're supposed to separate the author from their works, but I honestly think less of him/his talent now.
wait this is real?... I might actually quit over this. I'm really sick of all these shows being so god damn gay to be progressive. if you wanna be gay in your own home fine i dont give a shit, but stop forcing this shit into media to try and make it normal!
Oh great another show with lesbians. How many there are now?5?
Soon every main female character will have to be lesbian to get some attetion.
As a minority this fucking word pisses me off to no end. How many fucking words do we have to use to differentiate ourselves when instead we should bring ourselves closer together not further apart.
The TL;DR of it is that she sells herself as this starving artist/"one of you" to the types of people who are into her performances and uses this image to justify shit like crowdsourcing talent for her shows ("oh you'll be paid in EXPOSURE") and couch hopping in fans' homes to seem more authentic when in fact she is independently well off and ALSO married to somebody as successful as Gaiman.
And this would be tolerable if she had a lick of self-awareness about it, which she absolutely does not.
It just burns double hard that in the literal sea of pussy Gaiman could have had, he fishes this turd out of it.
>tfw you're tired of lesbians because it's giving you the impression that you can't be a strong/cool woman who don't need no man without also wanting to munch carpet
I mean, I LIKE SU, but if what you said starts to trend too hard I'm going to get butthurt. What we need is more women who just plain ol' don't have love interests.
>the psychoses and insecurities common in marginalized groups of folks.
Okay, that does it. Back to the frat with the rest of the PC Bros.
I'm wondering if they're mainly making more and more women into lesbians to attract more demographics.
Men like lesbians.
Some women like lesbians.
The LGBT like lesbians.
What's there to lose by appealing to peoples' primal desires?
>It just burns double hard that in the literal sea of pussy Gaiman could have had, he fishes this turd out of it.
Well, he's also got Stoya on the side so he has that going for him.
>implying it is now
go die under a rock nigger
Most people really enjoyed the miniseries a lot, give them a shot. The E4 song is a bit shitty and you could consider the finale a somewhat underwhelming, but otherwise 8/10
I'm working on a book kinda like that. She has one or two, but the main focus is way off that.
Would be nice seeing a girl kick ass without all that "see I'm a gurrrrrl and I can kick ass too" shit drives me up the fucking wall.
This is literally EXACTLY what I thought about Korra.
I wouldn't care if Asami or any other character in the show was a lesbian, but I took offense in Korra because she's an atlethic, hothead, toned girl prone to action because of her anger and impatience instead of something like motherly instincts...
And then they made her a lesbian (or bisexual, whatever). Way to go, guys. Straight girls can't be strong and cool.
>I'm just pissed cause they're so afraid to do gay guys still
Honestly, the world is not even prepared. Lesbians have appeal with guys and women alike, but gay guys are still seen as icky.
Can't blame them, I'm sorry. Even when I have gay friends who are pretty cool, seeing them kiss and being romantic with each other feels lil bit gross
Yeah, kinda like that. Scratch what I said though, only has the one brief love interest, the first one is off screen.
Nah she had em, she just wasn't a woman about it, it was more realistic dealing completely in the subtleties of the performance. . No "MUH FEELINGS MAXXXXX!!!!1!" she kinda understood Max wouldn't stay.
Well there where no direct kissing or anything but they not together anymore other then that it was overall very obvious that the gay for each other
Life is strange actually had less yuri teasing then this and thats saying something
>implying I'm part of those fuckers who constantly talk about it and destroy the fandom
I don't know m8, the only thing where I got that happening feel was the scene with old Marcy. And then again, I've already seen old people who are friends with younger ones getting this kind of scene or treatment. I honestly felt like it was more of a real long lasting friendship, and that's what I saw during the whole miniseries and also Varmints.
You should take a look at the last 3 Stakes threads m8, the overwhelming majority loved the series. It's just that after every episode at this precise time a handful of dipshits samefag to make you think that.
Well, it seemed clear she has some romantic interest in him. They were very similar people afterall, plus he saved her life. Thing is they never really acted on it because Max has no capacity for it, and she had more important shit to do. Most of it comes to a head when she gets almost killed, Max shows more concern than he ought have. She kinda thought he'd hang around at the end when the job got finished, but understood that he had to leave.
It was a fleeting thing at best, but something they neve r had to talk about.
But that's wrong. Max has visible concern in his eyes when she's close to death, wouldn't have that if he didn't develop some sort of feelings. When he leaves, she's visibly upset for a moment, then a sort of relieved look comes across her face. It's a thing that builds up slowly, and dissipates at the end. There's no need to have every chaarcter say what they feel in a visual medium.
This is also George miller, in the film certain small things paint bigger pictures and help establish things.
As a society, we've grown too comfortable with the idea that "tomboys = lesbians" (or some other indecipherable Tumblr-level condition), and its mirror opposite (ie. that feminine girls can't be lesbians).
There's this thing called friendship. People who go through hardships together tend to develop it. War buddies care for each other deeply, though (usually) aren't looking to buttfuck each other
People can just be friends anon.
Marceline loses her vamp stuff because she got sick of being burned by the sun. The gunk pumped out o f her brings back the vampires that she killed to get her superpowers because apparently you don't gget the whle package witha bite.
She goes around killing said vamps to get her power back and stop the vamp king without becoming a vamp again, and we get a little insight to her past after simon.
Vamp king tells her to stop cause he doesn't want to be a vam no more, shit goes wrong and his essence wrecks shit. Marcy stops it, and everything goes back to status quo, but chaarcter emotions chancge.
Also there's a bit of a subplot with bp's feelings and relationship with marcy with some implied feelings for each other at the end. Mostly just reminiscing and bp beating her self up.
Also the king of oo gets melted.
War buddies might not be gay for each other, can be a bit different when it's a guy and a girl. Much different in an apocolyptic wasteland. Besides, Hoult started growing on him about as much, and he didn't get nearly as emotional when he kicked it.
I don't feel like he'd give that much of a shit if it was just friends. He also tends to bail when he starts to get too attached to anything, he's better off on his own. I don't think she'd have as much of a pained expression at first if there wasn't anything there, but I'd say the relief comes in because they really didn't know each other that much and that's what he chose.
I agree that romantic feelings between max and Furiosa were implied but it's not 100% canon non-refutable.
I prefer to see it as platonic friendship because I think it's a much more interesting angle than derp love saves the day as usual
Just the usual teasing from the writers with some little blushing scenes and shit like that but for some reason now people is taking it as a 100% confirmation that this shit is canon
At least they should have the fucking balls of making them kiss or say that they are in a relationship instead of this lame teasing all the time
and this is coming from a person that fucking hates bubline
Was Rebecca Sugar really the one responsible for the escalation of bubbline? Like I'm sure there was always tumblr but which writer is to blame for teasing a lesbian ship in a weird children's cartoon?
Because the show's not about him and the writers don't care about his arcs. They do something resembling character work on him only out of obligation at this point. If the show was truly about him, he could learn and grow.
SHE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
But it's such lowbrow homosexual pandering.
A bit of blushing and handholding and suddenly someone is 100% gay? Why do people go nuts over this?
It really is like South Park said Gayness is basically free money
Alright, I'm sorry, but how is that spineless and making them slugs?
The crew of AT has always been in touch with the fanbase, them being fans of the very thing they worked on, if we do say that the push of the relationship between Marceline and PB is because of them wanting to have some fun with the fanbase, how does that make them spineless?
There has never been a single lesbian ship that has enhanced a character or show. Blushing and handholding in Korra and AT were like suicide bombs for every character involved and that's not likely to change until creators realize that shippers are the vast minority of their fanbase and most shows can survive without the tumblr audience.
Or maybe they just genuinely like their relationship and wanted to develop it? They had a lot of really nice moments this miniseries, it was honestly pretty well done
the majority of episodes with pb/marcy interaction were written by ako and jesse, the shippiest one being sky witch
C'MON GRAB YOUR COCK
WE'LL JERK IT TO MANY
WITH JAKE THE BUCK
AND FINN THE CÚCK
THE SEXUAL HUMILIATION WILL NEVER END
IT'S CÚCKVENTURE TIME!
How the heck was the handholding "like suicide bombs" for Korra and Asami when it happened in literally the last minute? It did not enhance the show because it wasn't even a part of the show
I still don't understand why people would call rose gay. lets take the fact she's a agender space rock out of the equation, and she still took the murdercock. Probably more than a few times.
>Or maybe they just genuinely like their relationship and wanted to develop it?
I don't know why they would genuinely care about such a stiff, obviously-no-chemistry relationship. Makes more sense as pandering.
>How the heck was the handholding "like suicide bombs" for Korra and Asami when it happened in literally the last minute?
Because it ruined the fandom and any discussion about the show forever. Literally any Korra thread on /co/ as evidence.
No one wants to see gay dudes unless its played off as a joke. Usually everyone likes lesbians. Guys and women both think its hot/romantic. And beilieve two gay guys in love is hilarious/disgusting.
>>But not everyone was happy with the Legend of Korra's finale. There were a few at Cartoon Network who felt the event was less than magical.
>According to the intern, who wishes to remain Anonymous, Adventure Time Storyboarder Jesse Moynihan bashed his head against the wall while screaming "NO! NOOO! NO THEY FUCKING BEAT US NOOOOOOO! THOSE HACKS DID DYKE PANDERING BEFORE US NOOOOOOOOO! FUCK FUCK FUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"
>Sources also confirm that "Steven Universe" creator Rebecca Sugar locked herself in the bathroom and tried committing suicide, because "Now no one is going to think my dumb rock aliens are actually gay."
Have you watched ANY of the recent episodes??? They are pretty much confirming that they have/had feelings for each other. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe for a second that they will follow through with it 100% because PB is going to be with Finn by the end of the series. But it won't be genuine. It will just be a pity pairing the writers throw together just to satisfy Fubblefags. When we all know that she really is going to be cheating on him with Marceline any way.
>Because it ruined the fandom and any discussion about the show forever.
Legend of Korra being a massive disappointed ruined any discussion about the show forever, Last minute Korrassami wasn't the cause but even more evidence of that.
Well aside from the mere potential of a pink bubbly nerd and a punk rocker vampire being together in immortality and all that, it's really cute how different PB is around Marcy for example. Maybe you're just not into girl/girl?
Because I feel the same way about 90% of fictional hetero relationships even if they're well done
I've always wanted to see what these guys are like day to day and not when they come to Cons. Are they like that all the time or are they similar to hate filled artist or some sort of combination of /pol/
>go on /co/
>want to talk about how good Staked was
>talkback threads and Stakes threads already archived
>only thing I find is this shit full of trolls and dumb people
fuck you guys I want to talk about my new favourite one shot character VK
Homosexual undertones and yuri pandering are powerful tools to the uninitated... but we ARE initiated, aren't we, Moynihan?
Pure tumblr shit from Sugar.
Ah yes the stable and idyllic relationship of Gus and Wally, who when described by their roommates spend all of their time either arguing or having really loud gay sex. Milestone for progressives right there.
>we finally get interesting episodes of Adventure Time again
>le shipping lesbian meme
Just wait until the next talkback, or try going to /+co/. The latter is dead, but thusly less trolling, while doing the former lands you reactionary shitposting but you still have people to talk with,
Mission Hill was hardly damaging to the gay community, the episode that actually dealt with the origin of Gus and Wally is actually one of the best of the series, I just don't see it as 'promoting' homosexuality because the characters were conceived of as gay stereotypes even if they were eventually used to tell a good story. SU is fucking autistic tumblr shit though, that's impossible to deny.
I hate to give points to this show but...Clarence.
The show doesn't shove in your face that Jeff has two moms.He only have two moms and that's it.Heck one of them even look like a man.
It's the polar opposite of Buddy G.
Was this so wrong? I mean it explained their relationship perfectly within the context of the show and helped explore the theme of loss, friendship and the trauma of growing up in a way that suited the show. Why throw it away so shippers don't have to work as hard on their fanfiction?
They don't need to, she's already inflated herself for years.
>marceline dreams about growing old with PB
>PB blushes when marceline tells her about her dream
>PB holds her in her arms while she was poisoned(never done anything like this with Finn. She doesn't even like touching him)
Id post more, but just imagine that scene in Spongebob where he keeps trying to prove to Patrick that the clam shell baby shits in diapers too much by going HMMMM?!?! HMMMMM!?!? and peeling off walls.
As said before, the only scene that could pass as bubblinesque was the dream Marcy had. Even then, I know friendships between younger and older people that end like this when one is about to die. As for the rest, even those blushing arguments are bullshit. Have you ever seen teenage girls act together? They pretty much do exactly the same thing as Marcy and Bonnie, the sole difference between that the latter two are physically hundreds of years old, but act like they're twenty when they're hanging out together.
If by "explained it perfectly" you mean "added bullshit to Marcy's character that was never displayed in ANYTHING related to the show" then yeah it really did,
Walch has some neat ideas for fanfics but Marcy being Peter Pan is totally pulled from her ass.
>oh hey, here's the relationship half of our audience is obsessed with wanting to be romantic
>let's throw in a bunch of blushing, just to show how great of pals they are. definitely not trying to imply anything more here!
I'm starting to think the "can't do the gay because banned in some countries" explanation is legit
The argument indeed is legit, and if anything's holding them from doing Bubbline, it's this. Then again I really feel like many people here never leave their homes, seeing at how everyone goes full shipping because of simple blushing, and that happens fucking all the time between good female friends.
>half of our audience
do I really have to explain what the definition of vocal minority is
>oh hey, here's the relationship half of our audience is obsessed with wanting to be romantic
"half of the audience" for AT weren't even born when it started airing. The rest are mostly stoners with a few shippers dominating online discussion.
Anyway, for my 2¢:
I'm no bubbline shipper, but after Stakes I'm finally able to get behind it. It seems like a natural course for the show to take, given where it's been. Anyway it definitely feels more natural than Fubblegum at this point. Hell, it feels more natural than Fubblegum EVER felt.
>I dont think you make a make a proposition like that to a friend unless they are homeless
that's literally a proposition I've witnessed in dozens of cartoons when I was younger
The asshole writers only did this to Marceline because they have no idea how to write a cool, rebellious teenage punk because they're a bunch of losers. So they had to transform her into a dull, shallow husk of her former self, also a lesbian because none of them can relate to any emotional relationship that wasn't pointlessly complicated and melodramatic.
Mine did. If you have space, rooming with friends is generally better than living alone, especially for the introverted types that wouldn't see another human face for months unless forced to
>extreme introversion are problems that neither Marceline nor Peebs face, at all.
>Emo vampire literally singing about not having friends
>Dethroned monarch who pushed all her loyalist friends away
I mean, both of them know Finn and Jake. I thought it was implied that Marcy got out to party a lot. And Peeb pretty clearly has a fanbase among the Candy peeps who miss her.
I don't know, neither is super extroverted, but I wouldn't say either of them were exactly Woody Allan types, either.
well he'll want to find love at least once in his life.
who else is there?
canyon and her canyon sized vag?
Yes you are. When something gets too popular, it's shit. When something isn't very popular, it's hipster shit and belongs in the trash. The opinions of a minority are always more vocal here because we are anonymous and we can't tell anyone apart.
That's why we love it, though.
Sometimes she's portrayed as being about 10 times his size. Sometimes she's a little under twice as tall and that's it.
She strikes me as the alpha male seeking type of woman that needs to have the biggest and best, most popular ever type of guy. I can't imagine she'd want anything to do with Finn unless he was much older.
>Is that much of a difference between males and females at age 14-16?
Yes, but also she's actually older than Finn, or at least, was I guess.
Stop that fucking shit, /co/.
I'd say Motoko Kusanagai is kind of like that. Some versions had her have a boyfriend or girlfriends, but it was never really a focus, and here romantic relations haven't ever defined her in any way. Though I'm not too much of a fan of her in general, but just because her personality is a bit too stoic for me.
Ghibli heroines are like that too, especially San, Kushana and Nausicaa.
>watching Adventure Time past season 2.
This show became so fucking putrid over the years.
What if I liked season 6 a lot? It had some pretty trippy episodes like the one with Prismo being revived and the mountain of monks that I really liked. I know /co/ will probably eat me alive for stating all this.
>Yfw you realize that putting lesbians in something is the 2010's version of what putting something in space was to the 00's.
FreddyXJason: as lesbians!
>Evil Emperor Proteus
>some gobbledey gook trip
why do you do this, this ain't Steam.
also part 8
You'll probably still like it. Those who say Stakes is bad are just trolling or really bad-minded.
>Olivia: Well…after the “What Was Missing” episode, the fans are actually the ones who came up with the whole lesbian possibility (laughs). I was talking to Kent Osborne –
>Martin: – head writer of the show, and an old friend of ours –
>Olivia: -- and we were just joking around, and I went, “Really? You made me a lesbian?” (laughs) And he goes, “No! That didn’t even cross our minds.” But so many of the fans were convinced that was going on that in a weird way, they’re maybe kind of banking on that a little bit.
>Martin: They’re just letting the rumor be there, even though it’s not true.
didn't canyon say that billy was too much of a manchild for her?
finn might have a chance if he wises up.
Who's in charge here is pretty based too though.
Here on /co/, as always. I've watched one episode of AT in my whole life and it was the one where the vampire dyke sang to the pink girl in front of a glowing door.
Rebecca Sugar told me they were lesbians. She has a better show now, so I guess she was right.
>She has a better show now, so I guess she was right.
He projected his own gnostic bullshit and existential quanderies onto AT and is a big part of why AT season 6 was a lot of new age stuff with characters barely reacting to anything.
Well, Breezy was mostly anecdotal on his part, with the feeling empty inside and trying to fill that by smooching on girls, the whole vision quest with the comet with Finn saying the most important act of creation is being born, the catalyst comets in general seem right out of Forming, and Martin is pretty much Noah.
I'm with you on that one. People are overreacting this way too much.
This is a site that exists primarily to bitch and talk about how everything created past a certain date, which only the poster knows of, sucks.
Any and all things that are not straight white people also suck and is just pandering.
it doesnt make any sense, dude. if you were in love with someone you wouldnt be so distant, so confused about how they feel. so separated-because-you-run-with-different-crowds. you'd actually miss each other a bit.
and when you gave someone a gift they used as pajamas, you would KNOW about it, not feel like 'shit i guess they didnt like it because they never wear it'
The bubbline stuff in stakes is reaalllyyy subtle and ambiguous - it's got a lot of attention drawn to it by lovers + haters but in the actual show it's not that obvious or heavy-handed at all.
Different anon, but here's my thoughts: gay being OK is a relatively new thing. Wouldn't literally any attempt at portraying a gay couple come off as heavy handed to we who are so used to it not being a thing at all?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't really get the idea that the writers DON'T WANT to do this. Maybe they were inspired by certain fans, but those fans were inspired by them first.
You make a good point about the attention drawn to it by lovers haters. I'm trying to make sense of it myself but I don't think the issue is as simple as people upset that gay people exist.
Another good point on it seeming heavy handed since we aren't used to it. Perhaps fans are annoyed because they aren't committing to it and just tip toeing around the issue instead?
Remember when adventure time was about adventures and not faggots using the show as a progressive soapbox?
I can't really blame people for getting mad. Writers want to represent gay relationships in their cartoons, but they are too scared to show the progression of a same-sex romance on screen. I guess for fear of backlash from executives/angry parents/dropped ratings?
So instead they drop subtle hints that something might be there to please their 15-25 year old online following, then say fuck it and go 0-100 real quick with there suddenly being two characters in love.
Korra is /co/'s favorite example of this; some letters exchanged off screen and a couple of blushes and then suddenly holding hands and staring longingly into each others eyes in the final scene of the series. And the writers act like thats the natural progression of a romantic interest. They lay a subtle foundation, skip the meat and jump straight to being a couple.
Thats why its a jarring change in character for people who weren't looking for the romance in the first place.
In the case of AT its not as bad since in the lore you have these two characters who have known each other for centuries and have obviously had a strong and emotional friendship (indicated by the "I'm just your problem" song).
I think people are jumping the gun because "Bubbline" isn't literally canon in the show (at least not yet). But it becomes a natural reaction to this direction of writing after previous examples.
Personally I'm gay so I don't get buttmad about it all. But if writers are going to have a same-sex relationship I wish they'd show the two characters being in love, instead of just making them be in love. Does that make sense?
>i know im expecting too many levels of detail from a children's cartoon
I am sick of the secret lesbians in kid shows.
I am sick of the gay faggots pushing their gay shit.
Super good points. Thanks anon.
How do you feel about it becoming progressively more obvious that bubbline is going without actually being canon? Think it's better, worse, or just all the same ad long as they don't all the way commit?
I miss old /co/
Back when we had lesbian appreciation threads and loved lesbian shit but now we can't enjoy lesbians cause somewhere some tumblr girl thinks it's progressive.
Maybe sjw don't even actually like lesbians they're just pretending to as reverse psychology so there's less dudes enjoying porn.
>One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the lesbians will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new lesbian overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted 4Chan anon, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves
Bubbline just ain't my ship, but I guess I'll swallow it if it's done well.
Realistic relationships aren't fantastic, though.
You mean portrayed in passing?
The arc he's talking about does have that stuff. And then crazy magic stuff happens, and people die.
>I am sick of the gay Jap faggots pushing their gay Jap shit.
Me too brother.
>Mortal Recoil set up kid PB and Finn adventures
>Ripped away from fubblefans the next season
>she's now possibly into marceline now
the pain anon
so much pain. you have the fucking comics at least let us have to show god dammit
Genre fiction in all forms is exploitative of many things, including all relationships therein. Using the subject matter's innate or otherwise established appeal to draw attention to your material. That's what exploitation means in this context. In AT, relationships are exploited to draw the shipping crowd. Bubiline teasing is no more or less exploitative than Finn+PB. Get your head out of your ass about hawt lesbians.
The comics are shit. We will consume all you love.
I think I actually would have liked Teen-PBxFinn. But I think between seasons 2 and 3 the writers realized that almost any way they try to stick PB with Finn, it would epicly undermine her character and reinforce the "girls are rewards that you earn" stereotype. Thus, it is my belief that Fubblegum shippers are SOL.
Sorry man, I know that pain.
Hey, the lesbians in Gunnerkrigg Court were pretty natural. That's exactly the age and setting young girls would be experimenting.
>media ruined by
The media wasn't ruined. The fanbase was.
>it would epicly undermine her character and reinforce the "girls are rewards that you earn" stereotype
Why does it have to be a stereotype though? Isn't that basically the same thing of saying that video games cause violence and shit?
Are there actually that many dumb people in the world?
I mean, with all the build up so far, I can only see the end of the show going a few ways. No way they'll do a Bubbline end game. It would be a huge fuck you to everyone but the handful of Bubbline fags.
1) Jake and Lady
2) Jake and Lady, Finn and PB
3) Finn and PB
Except that this stereotype has been around for millennia. Literally. It actually IS affecting peoples' perceptions of how the real world works, and I'm saying that from multiple firsthand experiences.
So yes. There are.
Anyway as soon as they dropped the Fubblegum motifs, that's exactly when PB started getting waaaay more deep and interesting as a character. She stopped being just "Princess Peach + mad scientist" (which is already pretty cool, but shallow), and started being "Despotic morally grey immortal ruler of a people she designed to be weak and subservient to her". How fucking awesome is that?
Funny enough, I'm sick to death of all the casual yuri that in every Slice of Life anime. Likewise in western shows I fucking hate a flaming faggot character but in anime those characters ranges from tolerating them to outright liking them like Leeron.
Can't wait till it's canon canon and fubblegum fags cry their salty tears
>fubble wouldnt happen because people were dumb enough to apply cartoons to real life
I still say she could have developed nicely with drops of fubble hints, but I agree with your post as much as it pains me to say it.
Now instead of a small minority of fans that wouldn't shut the fuck up now we've got the most vocal of them all not going to shut the fuck up.
Well, since we're speaking of lesbians in cartoons, does your country (assuming you're not american) censor such things?
I'm italian, here SU stopped a few episodes before the S1 finale. Some people think it may have to do with the Ruby and Sapphire reveal, the adaptation team probably doesn't know what to do with it
Someone here mentioned Jeff's lesbian moms in Clarence, in Italy the masculine one was turned into an actual man, or at least that's what it looked like when i saw an episode by chance, i didn't hear her being called by name but she had a man's voice
I had to look it up on the internet to be sure she was supposed to be a woman, only her eyelashes and the dyke-ish haircuts gave it away
That's part of why i guess most producers are afraid to go full homo, not all countries and cultures have the same perception of certain things so it may hurt the show's popularity internationally-wise. But then again i guess the american audience is the one that matters the most? I dunno
They started to become Poison ivy&Harley fans.
Or worse, Asami&korra fans.
It's funny you say this.
Most Americans, majority of Americans hate homosexuals. All they have is tolerance. Same can be for said for the majority of non-whites in America too.
For instance here in South Delaware it's hard for someone of any color of skin to get a decent paying job and Lewes and Rehoboth will only let caucasian and gay/homosexuals who are caucasian work there because Delaware sells it's holiday/vacation hotspots to the rich homosexual community and caucasian community. That's why everyone who isn't white has to go to and around Smyrna (Northern Delaware to get any sort of well decent job)
In the end of all things, the only reason America does it, is to be unique and make money for the shock value. But every day citizens are a lot like Europe in those respects.
I won't like it but if the writers truly want to go that route then fine by me.
fucking tumblrinas god damn motherfuck all of those fucking faggots
Is there any actual, physical evidence that this ship is real?
Or is it just shitty headcanon like all ships are?
Dude I was there for that. First few episodes of the censorship, before Cartoon Network they were actually Sisters, they didn't show the indoor swimming pool episode. Then in the early/mid 2000's when they aired it on CN they were second cousins BUT they showed the indoor swimming pool scene where they kiss for about thirty seconds.
CN had to cut the broadcast and put on I think Ronin Warriors or Dragon Ball (and or Z) for the remainder of the day. After that they didn't put Sailor Moon back on the air for an entire year. Toonami for a few months still had the inbetween block of "Coming up next is Sailor Moon" but in its place was an assortment of different animes, hell they even put PowerPuff Girls in their tv block.
The producers of the show and creators are still tip toeing the line. I just caught up with all the new episodes and I don't know how they could possibly do it so well but if your a shipper you could say there's something between them but if you're not you're probably looking at Elsa/Anna Sisterly Love
this is the most accurate post I've seen in years on 4chan
This show is garbage homosexual propaganda created to entrap youth in satanic and internet culture i.e. tumblr
Do you really care that much about the pandering of a show that has long since stopped being good?
Next you'll tell me you have an opinion on something that happened in Family Guy recently.
There's some weird censorship going on here, not only about lesbians. When watching AT i noticed some times a number of frames are cut out, only example i remember is when Lemongrab is eating a pie from a rat's mouth. In the italian episode after he captures the rat the scene jumps to when he stopped eating and you could only see pieces of pie falling from his mouth. I wonder how many little things like that are there
Same here, although i can't remember if they made them cousins or sisters, i guess they followed your lead since it's easier to adapt from english than from japanese
But i was talking more about modern stuff, the fact that old shows were censored or tweaked here and there to make things more "normal" is a given, decades ago nobody gave a fuck about being faithful to the original content and the fans couldn't even know about the changes
You will bitch about anything gay no matter what.
When your show starts pandering to homosexuals it's clear all the real content and ideas have all been used up and you're just going for the lowest hanging fruit.
At least let it die with dignity.
It's all shitty headcannon. They are like sisters in-arms. Both different flavored aspects of a common theme. Both ageless, supernatural, and not good expressing particular emotions. The writers also know what they are doing. It is left TOTALLY AMBIGUOUS intentionally so the viewer is allowed to see what they WANT to see. That way nobody is truly wrong and fans keep feeling as validated as they want in their own chosen perception.
It's a castle. It's huge. It's like letting someone keep a turkey in your fridge because there's is broken. It's hardly an imposition.
This is the first time I've seen them rubbing it in, while fubblers were shitting their pants at anybody who said any little thing against their ship for all the threads leading up to stakes
Yeah, the endless arguing over whether it's actually canon will be really fun. I'm sure if there weren't issues about where AT airs, they wouldn't keep being wusses with all this ambiguity
in seriousness, she said it was because she got turned when she was a messed up kid, and now it's been 1000 years and she's still messed up
she thinks becoming mortal will finally allow her to grow, change, and get better
>they will never shatter the divide between these two universes and allow these fucked up characters to be with the only ones who truly understand them
There are a lot of gay men in media. It's just that they're almost non existent in media aimed towards kids, which raises some questions.
Also bisexual men are almost non existent in media period.
I think with this one it is because until now there has been fuck all development, just little jokes
PB even had a whole episode about how she doesn't want a relationship at all, then you have the weird implications that her and Finn could be a thing again after the show spent age pushing them apart
In summary this show is a mess
I think they would just chill and go on some adventures, be happy they can spend some time with a member of the opposite sex they don't have to worry about. From there things would progress.
Also, Finn has basically every princess except Bubblegum, FP, and Marcy lusting after his dick. I think he'd be able to relate a little.
Funny, I thought eock beat scizzors
Not defending Steven Universe, although I continue to watch it I think the story structure is shit. Now that I'm done with that tangent I must disagree about Steven Universe shoehorning lesbian undertones. The concept of fusion was introduced in like episode 7 then expanded after that, whereas PB and Marcy's lesbianism allegations started in season 3.
Their relationship was completely shoehorned to the point that the writers have absolutely no idea what to do with it today. There was no build up to it, and the pay off will probably be shit like the current status of Steven Universe.
>they wouldn't keep being wusses with all this ambiguity
If they didn't have to worry about butthurt shippers calling them homophobes or attacking them professionally it's just as likely they would have declared them BFF's to shut down the entire debate early on because it's retarded.
Yeah, they hate the pairing and are just being held hostage by the shippers, and that's why they made 8 episodes with those two broads as the main power couple.
Listen to yourself talk once in a while.
If they even care what kids in another hemisphere are watching, why risk it at all? Is it that important to appeal directly to the tastes of shippers in the AT fanbase that they would risk censorship in most countries? Just say they're friends, shippers are happier fighting an uphill battle anyway and a positive bubbline reveal was never going to change the world anyway.
As a straight white male, I'm sick of lesbian relationships in cartoons!
More gay stuff please.
Censorship of AT is a big thing outside the US actually. I remember watching in three local CN versions how they even cut out Marcy spitting on Bonnie in What Was Missing. Although AT still is a fucking huge thing outside the Americas it wouldn't change much if it's about homosexual stuff, they'd probably let it be there while censoring fart jokes and everything implicitely sexual.
If the intended audience is small children I'm fine with this. It's literally the job of the writers to create stories for children and that means they don't get to explore all the themes they would like.
You fags are not even trying to not be as bad as Tumblr.
>Straight people actually like this kind of shit in a non-sexual way
When did we fail as a society?
The thing that's the most annoying to me is how like a solid 40% is here exclusively for the lesbos. Notice how much more popular AT is whenever those hoes have any onscreen interaction? Fucking fairweather fans.
It would be a joy to see a few piece of fanart not focused on those two for once.
It's not intended for small children though, it's intended for teens. They're even saying words like "turd" in the show now. And there's all kinds of somewhat violent and mature themes. Doesn't it air on the adult swim block in the US?
And besides, sooner or later whether you like it or not, people will stop seeing gay people as offensive just by existing and it won't be a big deal to have a gay couple in a kids show if they're not groping on screen or anything.
Because the writers changed their minds again about making fubblegum cannon and decided to pander tumblr and just do bubbline
pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander pander (you)
>It's not intended for small children though, it's intended for teens. They're even saying words like "turd" in the show now. And there's all kinds of somewhat violent and mature themes. Doesn't it air on the adult swim block in the US?
No, it airs with the other TV-Y7 babby shows at around 7 because it's a show intended for children.
Stakes is airing at 8, an hour before adult swim, and AT is rated PG - may be unsuitable for younger children
With all the weird shit that happens in this show, gayness wouldn't be that out there
Gayness has been explicitly thrown out by writers. It's just a kids show, dude, any "depth" they try to throw in is just google scholar shit like Moynihan's understand of tripartite psychology.
Animation takes a lot of time and money. Unlike anime blushes, Cartoon blushes are usually meant for something specific. I've seen this argument with Korra and Asami during Reunion please don't start this.
I don't give a shit about Korra, I've never watched it anyway. Also I don't watch anime, so whatevs
>Cartoon blushes are usually meant for something specific
Yeah, liked friendship or embarassment.
>I wish they'd show the two characters being in love, instead of just making them be in love. Does that make sense?
Perfect way of putting it. Korra just felt forced in the sense that it felt like a complete twist ending. But there wasn't any of the normal stuff you see in a actual relationship.
I'm not that anon but i sniff my different old tshirts all the time. They seriously all smell slightly different depending on how old they are. Or maybe her nose was just itchy. Maybe the writers were baiting ship fags? There could be dozens of minor silly reasons.
A lot of it just comes down to the current state of the culture.
A long time ago, a picture similar to this got posted on /v/ asking what was the difference here.
The most common response was "The left is pandering garbage while the right is cute girls being cute"
Pretty typical response, but it got me thinking.
The first issue is that there just isn't as much precedence.
Essentially, the main problem often comes down to people feeling that western media lesbians are more forced and poorly constructed. That they aren't genuine and are pushing some kind of agenda.
Well, imagine who's writing them in. It's people who's only experience with gay stuff is about the struggle of growing up back when it wasn't as accepted. So usually, they write about that shit and don't know how to write these characters as normal people that just happen to be lesbians.
The other thing, which is more about what people are talking about here, is that lesbians in these cartoons are a relatively new character type.
Like the one anon said, there's like 5 shows with lesbians now? That stands out because the number is still so low.
>If something hasn't been done, people are wary to approach it
>The first ones that openly try shit get to take center stage
>Then, more people start trying to do the thing, between 4-10 or so becomes this ground of "Geez, you're just trying to cash in on this shit"
>But, given time, you get into the double digits and it becomes "Oh, yeah, it's a thing again. They're not that important"
There will be a point where lesbians reach a good saturation in the medium and people will stop losing their shit over it and just accept that they're lesbians.
TL:DR - Give writers time to play with their lesbians and find better ways to write them, and the more lesbians show up, the less impact it will have so people will stop caring.
