Art and cover by YANICK PAQUETTE

In this new installment of the New York Times best-selling Earth One original graphic novel line, Grant Morrison (THE MULTIVERSITY) joins with Yanick Paquette (SWAMP THING, BATMAN, INC.) to reimagine Wonder Woman for a new era. I'm not hot on Seeley. He's done a lot of forgettable or even bad stuff and his Grayson scripted issues are far weaker than king's, while I still enjoy them his dialogue can get really clunky and he definitely tries too hard with the sexy/gay stuff. Because said magic characters don't work well on a team, Constantine works much better solo, Zatanna's powers are poorly defined and makes her presence in a team hard to handle, she's also a bit too lighthearted compared to some of the other characters. And Justice League Dark is a stupid fucking name. Shadowpact was cool cause it had charcters that can't hold an ongoing and a cool name. JLD had cunts like Constantine, Zatanna or Swampy, these bozos have enough fans for solo ongoings and 95% of all characters are better in solo ongoing than on team books.

His creator-owned work on Hack/Slash, Revival, and Effigy were great, and he's written the better issues of Eternal. Most of the ideas from Grayson (the tone, the characters, etc) were his ideas. His Grayson issues not being as good as King's is more of a testament to King's writing than Seeley's. Most of his bad stuff has usually been event tie-ins.

Branding it Justice League Dark isn't such a big problem, having the characters refer to the team as that though? fucking retarded. Doesn't even make sense, at least call it Justice League of Dark or something, still sound stupid but less so than "Justice League Dark".

>Shadowpact doesn't mean anything to readers and sounds like a Leifield Image character.
Maybe to "le 90s was all XTREEMMEEE shit, dark age of comics etc" kids. Blood Syndicate sounds even more "liefeldian" but doesn't mean it wasn't also a good title.

>It's why JLD survived for three years and three different writers
Didn't sell well, and the fact that it had three great writers and none did a good job is very telling.

>Sales wise Constatine Swampy and Zatanna dont sell solo books.
Swampy did, and he's getting a new one soon. Constantine did for years, his recent bland one went on for quite some issues and his recent good run is still going. Zatana has plenty of fans. Characters like these can survive solo, even if just for 12 issues, they might not be huge sellers but it's better than 20 issues on a badly written team book. Blokes like Ragman or Blue Devil can't even get a 4 issue mini these days.

> I can only assume you're that one guy who assumes people hate Finch's artwork because it's not a simple style.
Yes and No.
I know for a fact that people Hate him for the gorgeous detail work, and just his general style as every time he is mentioned people go into a rage vomiting shit fit because house style is bad apparently.
And no because yes he has anatomy problems and Sameface problems, but he is improving and his detail and rendering is more than enough to make up for it especially with a book like Wonder Woman with monsters and mythology that he was born to draw.

No I don't particularly care for the writing altho in have very little problem with Donna being evil like everyone else does just because I am not familiar with the character.

Probably to have a cheap fill-in writer to take the series to 52 issues before cancelling it.
>>

Why do people on /co/ try to talk about the health of ongoings when they don't understand them?

#13 was 32,260. This is normal behavior. #11 only jumped up because it had a Bombshells variant. You'll see a jump in December from Robin War.

Nice! February sounds a good month for DC. Even though Marvel still has better numbers, I enjoy DC so much more.

But it's not 40k like it was six issues ago when it was just 2.99!!

Clearly Grayson has settled somewhere between 30k-36k depending on how well the variant does overall. And that's not getting into how well it does digitally.

That's pretty good for Dick when he doesn't have the Nightwing name on the cover of his book.

A good writer.

Wrote Hulk for years at Marvel most notably Planet Hulk

Incredible Hercules

Created Armedeaus Cho

Current Action Comics writer.
>>
>>77508015
He did Incredible Hercules and has been the writer on Action Comics since 25. Basically even if you don't know him it's a sign that DC realizes there's a problem with TT.

He's been writing the much lauded Action Comics, and he wrote a bunch of Marvel stuff people like such as Incredible Hercules

I guess it just isn't a Green Lantern #50 without Parallax shenanigans

Did Fearbug Parallax bust out of New Korugar or is it going to be the wandering Zero Hour Parallax or both ?

Not really. Most people who don't keep up to date with comics won't even know what "Grayson" is. They'll have heard of Nightwing, but not of Agent Grayson.

Unfortunately sales numbers for trades are hard to find. Usually only the first and maybe the second month will show up in the Diamond sales and Bookscan's reports are only the top 20 so they're kind of shitty for tracking whether a book does well over a period of time.

They'll have heard of Nightwing through cartoons and video games, and they'll recognize the costume. They won't recognize Dick Grayson in his Spyral outfit, or make the connection that this was the original Robin.

Kek man don't be so delusional. All Snyder has done is ape Morrison poorly. I would bet you $100 that she is evil.
>>
>>77510538
>tfw he's killed by MillverseJoker!Dick
>>
>>77510442
It's not optimism, it's curiousity.

She was allowed to write Barbara all dark and grim before but I wouldn't be surprised if they made her write Barbara as more cheery
>>
>>77510597
She WANTED to lighten up Batgirl when she was still on it but editorial said no

I don't think she will mind writing Babsgirl of Burnside
>>
>>77510592
Yeah Snyder even gave her red hair. It's not very subtle and actually quite embarrassing if you stop to think about it.

>mfw Dick sells Bruce and Jason out and that allows Joker to kill Jason

That would make people so mad but I kinda want it to happen now. It just makes sense for this Dick
>>
When will flash be good? I got into it due to the TV series but god damn DC are shooting themselves in the foot here...
>>
>>77510693
Did you read it from #1? It was good prior to this writer. Go read some pre New 52 stories man there are plenty. Immerse yourself in the lore. That's what's cool about DC is all that stuff is still relevant even with the reboot.
>>
>>77510693
Never. DC doesn't believe in synergy still

AT LAST
>>
>>77510738
I'm glad they don't. That's fucking stupid trash and only hurts the people that have been reading prior to these shows/movies launching. Everything doesn't need to be new reader friendly Marve shill.
>>
>>77510738
Thank God for that though.

Also Flash should be good because they're trying to sell a Goddamned comic, not because there's a TV show out now.
>>
>>77510730
Yeah I read:

New 52 Flash all the way to Wally West time travelling back and sacrificing himself
New 52 Justice league (Currently reading forever evil). Flash doesn't really star in any justice league stuff though.

Bart Allen: Full run as the flash
Barry Allen (Silver Age): I've read good chunks from every where here, flash of two worlds, birth of reverse flash, death of Iris Allen. I'll jump back here to read the trial once I finish catching up on current Justice league.
>>
>>77510791
From a business synergy perspective it seems dumb not to cash in on TV show hype. They are bleeding potential readers such as myself, I happily pai
>>
>>77510793
Well good job anon, keep on keeping on. I'm sure there are more good arcs you haven't read.
>>
>>77510846
I plan on doing the crisis as well as almost all Wally Wests run at some stage. It's just disappointing that the new stuff isn't holding a flame to a lot of the old stuff I go back and read.

I suppose thought that I am cherry picking the best runs from over 50 years worth of content.
>>
>>77510914
It just goes like that man no matter what company or character. I'm a Batman fan but I've taken a 6 month hiatus to reread Morrison's run cause I can't stand Snyder. It happens. All I got is Grayson and Son of Batman.
>>
>>77510824
Didn't they try that with this whole boring Reverse Flash arc?

You don't need synergy, just a good writer really.
>>
>>77510990
They try with GA it didn't work
>>
>>77510990
I don't mean the tv show and the comics need to line up (so that show watchers pick up the latest issue and it's the same villain).

Rather, the tv show is doing really well and surely steering a percentage of viewers to Flash comics, the low quality of stuff right now would be turning them away. I think they should at least put good writers on so they can capture the tv viewers who are checking out comics.

Of course, it's a delicate balance, I loved the first New 52 volume (Mob Rule) but the next, rogues, drowned me in characters I didn't know (so did trinity war). If they cater to me, they do a disservice to long standing fans who by all accounts loved the New 52 Vol 2 (Rogues).
>>
>>77511026
That was truly a terrible arc.
>>
>>77510402
I can't believe they're still trying to make her a thing, her brother's more interesting than her.

>>
>>77511153
Oh god felicity was annoying
>>
>>77507226
I still have no idea why a writer would get rid of the mob boss angle for Catwoman and regress her back to "burglar". It's like he doesn't want to writed something mildly interesting.
>>
>>77505714

ooo this is gonna be good.
>>
>>77511431
Because it was just a temporary status quo shake up, was probably designed to be short lived as hell but got prolonged. If you seriously have no idea why she's returning o her usual shit then you're a fucking moron.
>>

is the flash black now?
>>
>>77505714
That's a badass Super suit. I really dig the belt.
>>

Yeah the moment one of the earlier solicits mentioned "Mysterious female Martian" I knew it would be M'gann. Pretty obvious. Good to see her reintroduced in something that ISN'T Teen Titans though.

Didio has done it. He has finally killed Nightwing.

No wonder he's always smiling. Dude always gets his way in the end (including the reboot).
>>
>>77511952
that doesn't mean the entire book is a flashback

did you even read #1? it opens up with Agent 37 Dick
>>
>>77511973
Yeah cause they are all meeting up to intro the flashback. The whole book is meant to be a Flashback minus the intro. It's got fucking Roy right there and he's running around with Jason right now. Stop being so handicapped.
>>
>>77511973
There's a reason no one else commented on it. It's a flashback. The whole book is.

>>
>>77511971
Dick Grayson: Superspy is better than Nightwing has ever been. At this poind, I'd rather they pass the Nightwing title to Tim so he can get rid of the whole Red Robin thing. It'd be apt, since Tim's much more of a mini-Bruce from a detective standpoint.
>>
>>77512194
The larger part of /co/ seems to not care for Snyder Bruce Bats from what I've seen, though it's definitely more divisive than say, Slott Spiderman or Bendis Guardians.
Also both of those two don't get a lot of critical acclaim where Snyder does.
>>
>>77512348
>Tim
>Nightwing
Pls no. Never.
If anyone else could be Nightwing, only Damian is maybe acceptable, but it's not so much a mantle as his name. If you read interviews with King, he says that he thinks Dick is still Nightwing even if he may not be using the name at the moment.
>>
>>77512348
I doubt DC even cares enough about Tim to give him a name that others really care about.
>>
>>77512347
Delicious karma. Fuck, I really want it now. Especially for all the salty drama.
>>
>>77512194
>>77512359
I mean I think it's literally the same thing as Slott. New readers like him cause they don't know better but old readers do know better and we hate him cause he's just aping Morrison poorly.

Slott and him both had a few good arcs scattered throughout but it's time for both of them to go and they both refuse to get off the book.
>>
>>77512425
He is currently Batman Beyond
>>
>>77512431
I know right?

Usually Jason is salty about Bruce preferring Dick yet in Millerverse the opposite works so much better, and this Dick is just crazy enough to do something about it
And Dick Grayson fans would go insane and throw a fit about Miller hating Dick

It'll be a shame if Dick isn't even mentioned at all
>>
>>77512513
I am a huge Dickfag and I want it.
I quite liked Millerverse Dick - Joker Dick makes sense in sense of ASBAR, and ASBAR Dick is qt.
>>
>>77512513
>Usually Jason is salty about Bruce preferring Dick yet in Millerverse the opposite works so much better

>>
>>77512765

>>
>>77512404

>Implying Cass isn't going to be the new Nightwing

They've kinda danced around her endgame being Black Bat... If we're getting a new one it'll be her.
>>
>>77512453
It's not a whole lot like Slott in other ways: Snyder is at least keeping the ship afloat without breaking too many toys. He's only really screwed with the Joker, and everybody knows the Joker is always just as fixable as he is breakable.

Slott's damaged a ton of characters in ways that they might not recover from for a long time, like most of the pre-existing female cast.
>>
>>77506573
Really? Not saying you're wrong, but I didn't remember hearing anything about The Jokers or Damian saving Gotham.
>>
>>77513766

Snyder's run is pretty safe too.

Ignoring the Morrison angle what he's written taken in its own right is pretty much fine. It's not offensively bad like some of the stuff Slott's done.
>>
>>77511940
Ew, why would anyone who actually enjoys good comics want Nightwing back? Grayson may not be for everyone, but it's not like that got everyone buying Nightwing. I was just surprised at the lack of reaction for the suit.

What most people haven't really reacted to is the fact that we have current Roy and current Donna on the cover. Plus, Dick was with these Titans well before he ever wore that Nightwing suit. I'm hoping it's just something he slips on during the Mr. Twister fight or something. Nightwing is done. Let it rest. Grayson is the next step.
>>
>>77513848
Exactly. The next guy to come on after Snyder's dynasty should have an easy time doing what they want.
>>
>>77513806

The Jokers have been brought up before. I can't remember where but I know it's been talked about.
>>
>>77513898
I've only heard them mentioned here during We Are Robin story times when everyone's jokingly asking "How soon til we get Jokers"
>>
>>77513898
They're in Batman Beyond.
>>
>>77513983

And that takes place after Robin War. So still, we've kind of been spoiled that at somepoint in Robin War we're getting Jokers.
>>
>>77513884
Snyder's really added more than he's actually taken away. The Court of Owls is a pretty great addition to the Gotham mythology and has been used by multiple lines.

The only thing he's really taken away is Alfred's hand, and even that can be fixed.
>>
>>77514493

Also Julia has an out so that you can keep her around or ditch her if you want and Harper is already self sufficient. He doesn't even use her much outside of the Eternal stuff or minor appearances honestly.

But Black Cat, last I checked anyway, was thoroughly screwed.
