I like the art style, and the premise seems interesting.
>>
>>77455969
Yep.
>>
>>77455929
Now that i think about it, one good way to make the empire be a much bigger threat is to have the rebels start losing several bases, Hoth style but in mass. That way it is harder for people to call the empire jobbers when they are slowly but surely erradicating rebel cells.
>>
>>77455969
Yeah, definitely worth a read, especially the last one, Redemption.
I also like their primitive aesthethic better than the KOTOR/TOR one.

Yeah, I love the 90s SW art direction.

Shadows of the Empire, Tales of The Jedi, Crimson Empire, they feel much closer to the OT than the new stuff Marvel's putting out.
>>

That was a Rebels thread. This is a glorious Star Wars: Imperials thread, in which we speculate if our hero Commander Kallus will be able to defeat the terrorist "rebels" in the next episode.

>disney
>Blaming Disney because the writers newfound inability to make reasonable situations for both the Rebels and Imperials to win and lose.

Now I blame Disney for a lot of dumb decisions, like budgeting and not putting Rebels on the main Disney channel for better viewership, but the writing for this show isn't one of them.
>>
>>77456094
Shut up Kallus, you're worse of a failure than Aresko ever was, at least it wasn't his job hunting rebels. But yeah, you should have used orbital bombardment on the Rebs when you had the chance.

Seriously Kallus, what the hell are you doing? You're better than this.
>>
>>77456159
I kinda want there to be at least one ep where he does something super evil and cruel and gets away with it. Just to show us that he still means buisness
>>
>>77456190
We have the books for that, though.
>>
>>77456190
Definitely, show him as the badass that he supposedly is. That's all I ask.
>>
>>77456246
More people watch the show than read the novels.
>>
>>77456261
I think having him coldly execute Sato would do the trick
>>
>>77456246
Kallus hasn't been in any of the books so far, though. Not even Ezra's Gamble/Servants of the Empire. Aresko got much more time in those, if anybody is interested.

>>77456294
I like that idea.
>>
>>77456294
Could be the result of Vader giving him a "do or die" mission to prove his worth.
>>
>>77456294
Perhaps, maybe by televised firing squad? The deed doesn't have to be shown, but it can be heard and you can see the rebels faces as it's happening.
>>
>watching Serenity
>remember that when Firefly fame out, Mal was "Han Solo if the Rebellion lost"
>turns out the Rebellion didn't win, even if it didn't exactly lose

I hope Han is happy.
>>
>>77455987
They do this in Twilight Company, the entire Mid Rim Campaign falls apart for the Rebel Alliance. They're forced to fight world-for-world, back into the Outer Rim.
>>
>>77456322
>Aresko got much more time in those, if anybody is interested.
>He gets more screentime than Kallus

I find that funny, he's also pretty damn good in the books too, fairly competent to a degree. Kallus has ben mentioned though. in really small parts.
>>
>>77456322

That's a shame, I hope he lives long enough to get a book appearance..

I still need to read those. I'm still not over Aresko.
>>
>>77456440
>I'm still not over Aresko.
Me neither, I knew what he was and his purpose in the show was for, but damn if he wasn't likable.
>>
>>77456159
I seem to remember one reason they didn't bombard was that the AT-TE was too small to hit for sure, even with splash damage, and it's likely they'd have gotten through relatively unscathed. Orbital Bombardments are best for big stationary targets like cities, bases, or entire armies. Little stuff could just have shit get blown up around it.
>>
>>77456468
They didn't bombard it because Kallus wanted to go down there himself and show how badass the Empire was.

Old Doctor Aphra on some far off old Separatist Command Base.

Luke just shows up and she crackles over the com system "About time you showed up, was beginning to think his plan B was a wash too. Make your way to the command bridge, we've got to talk."

He walks up towards the commamd bridge hearing the familiar hum of a Lightsaber coming from a closed room along with a familiar presence in the force, like a distorted mirror image of his sister."

Aphra comes over the intercom again, "we can talk about that one later, after she's finished training and we've spoken, now hurry up I'm an old woman and don't have all day."

he approaches the door over the rise seeing a pair of troopers, wearing Army of the Republic era Armor.

Trooper raises a hand "halt" a scanning beam emits from the troopers hand. "Commander Skywalker, Doctor Aphra is waiting for you."

The Command bridge opens and Luke is greeted by a somewhat familiar site, the bridge has been taken over as a workshop with driod parts hanging from the ceiling tools on benches, stacks of blueprints and in the middle an old woman her hands deep in "guts" of a black protocol droid.

"Hey, glad you finally found time to visit" she extricated her hands rubbing them on a piece of tattered black fabric.

"So, are you ready?"

Luke still a bit puzzled as to what he's found "Ready for what exactly?"

Aphra hits a button on a nearby console bringing one of the hangers into view on a console screen showing countless legions of white armored bodies. "Leading the Droid Army of the New Republic."

Probably not, slavery of their species is still a rampant problem amongst Twi'leks. But not like the "They sell their first borns into slavery willingly" type of thing the EU had them do. Ryloth is just a fucking shithole that's corrupt as ever and doesn't care about it's people.

Ryloth is bad because the planet naturally makes Spice, a type of drug that's most likely like cocaine in potency, and like all drug rampant places it's usually filled with politicians that want to line their pockets with cash and don't care for the suffering below their feet.
>>
>>77458967
I usually don't care much for most minis games but if you have a crew you can get into it it's probably one of the most fun. Simple to play, but lots of depth in upgrades. Really flexible meta meaning most things can work if you fly em right. Plus it's production values are really good for how cheap it is. A core set will run you like $25 and most ships from there are only $10-$15.

If you have others interested in playing it, get a core set and try it out.

So in The Clone Wars, do we ever find out why so many Separatists consider the Jedi to be "filth"? I know they're at war, but it's possible to go to war and still consider your adversary honorable, but clearly they don't. Have they just swallowed their own propaganda? Is there some kind of "Jedi secretly rule the Republic" conspiracy theory going around?
>>
>>77459701
There are multiple episodes where you see the war from the separatist view, yeah. With the Bonteri family in particular.
>>
>>77459701
Dooku felt the Jedi had just become attack dogs for a corrupt senate, so I imagine that's what he preached to the Separatist populace. Of course you also have people like Grievous, who hates them because he's envious of their power.

>>77459701

Well, the Jedi call themselves the defenders of peace and righteousness, yet they ally themselves with the corrupt senate and lead the Grand Army into battle against us poor separatists who only want to free ourselves from the evil clutches of the republic.
>>
>>77459701
What bugged me with TCW was how oppressive the separatists were. Aren't they the Confederacy of Independent Systems? How could that translate into droid occupations and martial law? You'd think there was SOMETHING there that people would consider joining for. Was it just an entire interstellar coalition of puppet leaders all answering to Dooku? How does that work?

>>
>>77459895
>Was it just an entire interstellar coalition of puppet leaders all answering to Dooku? How does that work?
Pretty much. It's a government run by a Sith Lord who's talked a bunch of corporate barons and power-mongers into siding with him. Your average Separatist citizen has no idea this is going on and most of them think the Confederacy is an honest democracy, they don't know about all the shady shit going on. Even the Separatist senate isn't aware, one senator actually called Dooku on his bullshit when they invaded Scipio, and Dooku just kills him.

Heroes on Both Sides spells this out pretty clearly. The Separatist Senate actually passes a bill to begin peace talks, the war profiteers get nervous about this and Dooku sabotages the whole thing to keep them happy (and naturally to suit his and Sidious's own reasons for keeping the war going)

I suppose the profits enjoyed by the corporations under the CIS might increase the living standards of their citizens temporarily, basically buying their loyalty. Membership in the Republic apparently comes with a lot of obligations, like taxation, regulation, no slavery etc. There's also probably a weapons production bubble, which would increase employment and keep the masses content and distracted. There are probably separatists who have ideological reasons for supporting this whole thing. Maybe they think it's freer both politically and economically and are blind to the corruption.

To be fair people were starting to write stuff, but then it got nuked by Brandon Rhea

>>
>>77461347
The Wook was butthurt about the canon wipe and started to be anal about it, articles with new canon stuff were constantly changed or outright erased by editors, and the site always redirected the searches for Legends articles, people here got the idea to make a canon wiki, it used a timeline from the wookiepedia as a base guide to start writing articles, and as far as i'm aware was the only thing that was copied form wookiepedia. Brandon Rhea, wookiepedia's admin, is also a wikipedia editor or something like that, and he got the new wiki nuked claiming that it was infringing copyrights from wookiepedia
>>
>>77461422
>>/swg/ gets buttblasted at Rhea's inability to let go of Legends and switch to NuCanon

Having a prefered canon isn't "autistic", though. The only stupid thing is that most pages on wookiepedia default to the Legends tab rather than the Canon one, but that's really fucking minor. If they had started outright denying putting canon stuff in there then yes I would agree with that the bias is harmful, but the canon articles have shaped up significantly since the initial messy release.

So yeah, I guess people here just get mad because someone has a different preference? IDGI. I've always been of the opinion that whether something is "canon" or not should never be a deciding factor on whether you should read it, watch it or play it.

Then again my favorite Star Wars games were the Super series for the SNES and those were wildly non-canon even back then, so maybe I'm just too weird.
>>
>>77461522
Just a quick clarification before we get too far into the copyright side of things:

You CAN copyright encyclopedias and wikis. The information is copyrighted in the manner it is presented (similar to the way maps are copyrighted), despite the fact that the articles are about copyrighted material (in this case: Star Wars). Copy/pasting the Wook's articles WOULD constitute an infringement.

That said, I don't think that's what happened. I just wanted to clear up a common misconception before we went down that road.

What really happened was the Wook's autism outweighed /swg/'s autism.
>>
>>77461422
>>77461420
I'm not too familiar with Wiki's, but my 1 minute google search lead me to this.

http://www.wikia.com/Community_Creation_Policy

>You may not copy content from other wikias, or from Wikipedia, without providing proper credit and a link back to the source

>A wikia which only copies content from other wikias may be closed, if it fails to provide credit or begin editing the text to make the project different and distinct.

So if credit was given for the single page that was copied from the Wook, why did it get shut down?
>>
>>77461570
>http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/99

Compare these two pages and tell me there's no autistic bias here. You can even set aside, for the moment, that there's /99 and /99/canon, despite the fact that the default should objectively be canon.

99 appeared in two TCW episodes and was mentioned in a third. THAT'S IT. His Canon and Legends appearances are the exact same, therefore every single bit of his story is exactly the same. There's no reason the two articles should be any different. In fact, someone went out of their way to make sure the canon page was less informative.
>>
>>77461610
>why did it get shut down
Autism, plain and simple.
>>
>>77461575
>>77461610
That's where Brandon being part of wikipedia comes in, the official reason given was that it infringed copyright, but given Brandon's position most here think he used his position in the wikipedia staff to close the site
>>

>>

Theres discussion talks on Wookiepedia back in 2014 where they debate making their own separate wiki for canon, and many people refused because "future generations need to be able to choose Legends instead of canon if they want."

I really don't mean to be has autistic has the Wook, but just hear me out.

One thing that I came across in one of the Wook talk pages is that while a character may be canon, not all of their reference material is under 'Legends".

In the 99 page you edited, Star Wars Annual 2011 is listed has a reference to when 99 died in 22 BBY. The Wook itself classifies that book has Legends material.

Does it really matter? To the autists who edit the Wook, probably. The rest of the page shouldn't be a point of contention though.

How can the empire control all rations on every planet? Why are people living there is they can't just use the planets natural resources for food? Must be a small planet if only 3 cases of space supplies relieved them. What's to stop the empire from turning around and taking those supplies too?

Why is hera considered a good pilot if her plan was "like, just keep going in a straight line and I'm sure one of the ships will be able to drop off supplies, I guess?" She was literally responsible for a lot of lives lost.

If they know it's a trap and the empire is just baiting them wouldn't the smarter choice be to make supply drops in other places? You're in open rebellion, you should be more pragmatic rather than wasting resources and lives
>>

We can ask, can't guarantee they'd respond. And if they did, we certainly can't guarantee they'd be reasonable.

To the book editor lurking: Please respond -- what do we need to do to help you make this a proper resource? There are clearly people willing to help.
>>
>>77462807

What's interesting is that I just read over all the wookiepedia policies and guidelines and I cannot find anything about Legends articles taking precedence or not copying identical articles anywhere. Which means it's not by any standard an official policy of the wiki, just something they do behind the scenes.

Which really is just bullshit.

>>77462867
Exactly. It's active interference.

If they were really interested in making a reference resource, they would've done one of two things in response to my 99 edit:

>fix the edits to remove Legends material
>flag the page with the "This page contains Legends material; please edit so it only contains Canon sources" banner

Instead, they reverted the page and locked it, which is a move that helps no one. I could almost forgive the pages defaulting to Legends if they would at least make the canon pages usable.

A thing I've been wondering about what with all the fan rage over canons and such.

How do they decide to keep some things canon and some things not? Like, for example, the names of almost all the alien species in SW originally came from EU sources, but they're still used for new canon productions like TCW and Rebels. Same with the names of minor characters from the movies. How do they decide to keep or change that? Do they just keep names because they're so well established by now?
>>
>>77463452
No
>>77463555
I took it as he realized the Wook was failing and people were willing to take action. I would have a sit down with him and if he allowed us to fix up canon articles without interference, I would be all of it. I'm sick of these dipshits. I miss the pristine quality the Wook had.
>>
>>77463675

Idunno, I kinda like him having a valid reason for hating the Republic/Jedi and it's a solid showing of the failings of both of those sides.
Also there's something oddly compelling about somebody who hit the point where he was literally considered a demigod having to resort to trickery and generally being a skeev because he genuinely can't compare to Force bullshit.
Plus I just really like The Epic of Gilgamesh so there's probably biases there.

Right, that makes sense. I guess they're also retaining some things which were explained by the EU but were different in the films?

Like in the movie they call the alien species Neimodians that the EU had named Duros, so they had to make an effort to explain they were related species. But I think they still call Cad Bane a duros in TCW. Or maybe he's a Neimodian in canon?

>>

You have selected the worst waifu out of all available Rebels choices, congratulations.

As for recommended reading, there isn't enough of Rebels to make a list like that yet. Just watch it all. It's sequential so there's no risk at getting confused at skipping around in the timeline like with TCW
>>
>>77464023
It's generally kind of mediocre with some high points, better than season 1 of TCW anyway.

Despite all our bitching, Rebels is pretty good, as for recommendations, the show doesn't really need them. TCW is more episodic than Rebels, whereas in Rebels the episodes connect with one another and missing one usually means your going to miss a plot point down the road.

There are 2 core sets. 1 classic, and 1 force awakens. Both have different ships, pilots, and upgrades, but both will net you what you need to play given you each your own set of dice and your own set of movement tools. I would recommend each of you look into as your first expansions past the core set the "aces" pack. There's one for Imperials and Rebels. They'll easily get you up to playing full 100 point games with some variety in what you want to build. Rebels especially because you get an A-Wing and B-Wing. Imperial aces just gives you 2 Tie Interceptors, which while fantastic bread and butter for the imperial list, doesn't quite give you that variety.

Seems like they're going with some sort of middle ground. No acrobatics but still not stale af fighting.

tho tbqfhwy (to be quite fucking honest with you) my all-time favourite lightsaber fight is between Vader and Luke in RotJ.

But it makes sense for the guys in TFA not to be as good as in the OT and PT as they pretty much had to start over from scratch.

No, it shouldn't.

Lightsabers have been around longer than the Sith.

That was pretty much clear from the beginning though. They hired three Raid actors and fight choreographers from Game of Thrones, so the fights are probably going to be faster and more exciting than in the OT, but more intense, brutal and definitely more emotional than in the PT.

Both trilogies reflected the trends of fighting scenes of their time. So the ST doing the same is no different.
>>
>>77474660
So this confirms the hilt was phased out because it was impractical.

Wish they'd do rapier/dagger or katana/wakizashi next, heck both. We only got a few minutes of dual wielding in the PT.
>>
>>77474845
And I believe Dooku was supposed to whip out another saber himself.

>>
>>77474845
Hopefully the info books go into detail about the past and it's many different saber designs once TFA is out.
>>
>>77474858
IIRC, when Yoda showed up Dooku was supposed to take Anakin's dropped lightsaber and use the two of them to give him an edge. At least that was the idea, though Lucas mostly just shot that in case he needed the fight to get more intense but it turned out he didn't need that.
>>
>>77474921

most amusing to me is how Kylo's fighting style is much more like he's using a battle axe or hammer than any bladed weapon. just look at it, he fucking sings with such force if the blade turned off it'd still leave a dent.

This too. If he's flailing around like a barbarian or something it contrasts with the later Jedi and Sith's refined moves, "muh eastern martial arts" again.
>>
>>77474908
What if there was a double-blade saber with a much shorter second blade for surprise attacks? The Three Musketeers movies from the 1970s had such a sword.

Maybe Kylo will go with that for the sequels, four blades.
>>
>>77474921
It does raise a few questions. Did Obi-Wan train Anakin in dual saber wielding or did Anakin just improvise? Dooku didn't fight them at the same time like Maul, he took them out one by one. Perhaps it would've been more in character if he drew two swords for two opponents, but that didn't happen.
>>
I know this discussion was half a thread ago, but there's been an update. I woke up this morning, opened my laptop, and realized I still had The Wook open in a tab. I went to close it, when I saw "You have new messages."

So I clicked it, and: Pic Related.

The reason canon articles are so shit is because they expect people to write them from scratch, even when the information is identical.

Fucking Wook. Apparently using information from their own site is "plagiarism." At least we got our answer.
>>
>>77475365
Seriously? I thought having identical phrasing for some parts would only be logical since there are two universes branching off from each other.

>>77475365

Yeah, I see absolutely zero benefit in requiring an update from scratch. For a page like Luke Skywalker? Sure. That makes sense. But 99 and Huyang appear in just a couple episodes of TCW and I removed all the Legends sources. I may try to keep digging to see if I can find their reasoning.

I didn't know it was their policy, and it seemed several others in the thread didn't either. Not knowing something =/= idiocy.

As for the rule, why should it have to be rewritten? It's fine how it is, and it serves the purpose. I was simply trying to help by updating the page to include relevant information, but instead, there's a rule solely written to make it harder for me to do so.

I'd really just love a TCW ongoing comic that continues everything. It's a lot easier than having TCW Legacy spread over several different formats.

Speaking of TCW Legacy, what do we know about what's left?

Considering Son of Dathomir went up to production code 6.24, I'd wager it's safe to say that we've gotten all of season 6 out of the way. Didn't Filoni say they have stories through Season 9?

If that's the case, there's still roughly 3 seasons of content, roughly 60-70 episodes. If they did an issue per episode, that's a 5-year run on a comic. Sounds good to me!
>>
>>77473833
>But it makes sense for the guys in TFA not to be as good as in the OT and PT as they pretty much had to start over from scratch.

The new protagonists are probably much better fighters than Luke was in ANH and TESB though. Luke was just a farmboy with a lightsaber and a strong connection to the force.
Rey grew up on a planet that seems to be much worse than the worst part of Tatooine. She grew up alone and always had to fight in order to survive.
Finn has been trained as a soldier since he was born. He might not be on the same level as Rey and Kylo, but he clearly knows how to fight.
Kylo has been trained in the dark side of the force and he might even be a former apprentice of Luke. People called him a wannabe, but he is the new main antagonist which is why I guarantee you that he won't be weaker than Darth Maul.
>>
>>77477075
>what do we know about what's left?

We know there was going to be an arc about the Republic invading Mandalore and that it was the last time Rex fought alongside Ahsoka. We've seen a few design sketches from the arc too.

There's a rumor circulating that we might be getting it in comic form.

I really think the B-wings "super laser" is dumb as hell. I always thought it would be better if the three laser cannons on the wing tips were like the beam cannons on the republic gun ships, they would come to a point like what they did in rebels but they would just be used to weaken the shields of a capital ship enough so that it could launch a volley of proton torpedoes on specific points of said ship.

I can see like two or three B-wings with A-wings as fighter escort taking on a Star Destroyer. They would do precision strikes on things like the command tower, those massive turrets on the port and starboard sides and that bubble thing underneath.
>>
>>77478706
You can, however, invoke the Snoke. Constantly. Which you people do. Leave him and Sheev alone, they're ancient evil men(ish) and have a lot of work to do. They don't have to suffer your indignities.
>>
Imagine if the Oxford English Dictionary required the writers to write completely unique entries for every single word each year and they would never be allowed to match a previous year. That's how retarded Wookipedia is.
>>
>>77478747
>but they would just be used to weaken the shields of a capital ship enough so that it could launch a volley of proton torpedoes on specific points of said ship.
But that would be retarded. We've never really seen lasers used just to weaken shields. It also implies that lasers are weaker than torpedoes, which is entirely false, since laser weapons have always been shown doing much more damage.

It's much better to have the laser weapon do all of the damage.

Even if Wookieepedia wants people to rewrite articles, they should at least allow the Legends article(in cases like 99 and Huyang) to be used as a placeholder so the article doesn't look so fucking empty.

Do they not realize that having articles with little to no content on them makes themselves look bad?
>>
>>77478897
I think they justify it by having links default to the Legends pages which have more content.

No. They will remain eternally bootyblasted about canon.

>>
>>77478930
>then what was the point of using proton torpedoes against the death star than?

The thermal exhaust point was ray-shielded. They say it during the briefing.
>>
>>77478860
I wouldn't say that. Proton torpedos haven't actually been used in the movies except against the Death Star (with TIE bombers attacking asteroids but that's not too much help in this discussion), however in TCWs they specifically used a pack of Y-Wing bombers against the Malevolence, a CIS super ship. They didn't pack lasers to take out the bridge.

Now an argument can surely be made over the nature of the weapons. Torpedoes rely on explosive damage so impacting on the surface does nasty damage to the outermost structure they hit, while a laser can be a more penetrative force given it's energy is concentrated into a beam. That's more speculative but certainly reasonable.

Best to say they blow shit up either way (the X-Wing that took out one of the bridge shield emitter ball structures for instance) without canon being too specific about power levels, etc.
>>
>>77478932
To be fair, you're pre-judging Kylo, just like they are, but in the opposite direction.

It's probably more a safe bet on anon's part. Like the crosssaber arguments where people were showing how ridiculously ineffective it would be. Maybe so in real life, if such a thing could exist, however there is absolutely no way within the movie they'll show that his saber is a piece of shit. It will be shown to be super awesome and effective. Perhaps right up until he has to be defeated, however he's defeated, but besting him in saber combat is only one way to defeat him or force him to retreat.

Given the marketing to this point it seems extremely unlikely that Kylo Ren falls at the first moment and dies only to be replaced by another Knight of Ren as a huge fake out.

"Oh you thought Kylo Ren was going to be the big bad? Haha, he's dead now! We tricked you! Here's Kyle Ren and his also super evil twin brother Karlos Ren!"

Proton torpedoes can change direction. Lasers can't. Also, this>>77478977

>Even in the show it was stated that the beam it emitted was a serious drain on power for the ship and was a one time thing.

BECAUSE IT WAS A PROTOTYPE. It's not something that was professionally built in a shipyard, it's a prototype craft designed in an old hangar.

When it gets mass-produced, it's not going to have the issues the prototype does because it'll have parts specifically designed for it, that way it doesn't have to sacrifice the hyperdrive or anything.

>>77478981
You can't exactly bomb with something that only travels in one direction. I mean, you can, but that requires you to aim it specifically at what you want to hit.
>>

>>
>>77479005
Still assuming all B-Wings will end up with that. Which is possible. It would make them flying versions of that clone wars tank. Those things were fucking up some rather hefty looking CIS ships just by ripping lasers across their surface.

Of course then they might be too powerful so there will likely be reasons why they aren't instantly the go-to ship of the rebellion. Cost probably, but they'll probably keep some kind of technical limitations from the weapon system like they had to weaken it to keep it from burning out the hyperdrives of the mass produced version. Oh and the old bit about how difficult they are to fly.

They aren't bombs, though. They're torpedoes. They have their own guidance system and propulsion. The ships that heavily use them are CALLED bombers, but it's not necessarily the same thing. However the TIEs did use them more as bombs and so did the CIS when bombing villages on Ryloth.

It should probably be pointed out that the Y-Wing has a laser turret and forward guns, but also torpedoes. X-Wings have four lasers but still carry torpedoes. The B-Wing prototype has lasers, a super laser, and also torpedoes.

There's a very good reason they bother with these kinds of compliments, and not just for when they run against ray shielded targets (though that is a decent reason in and of itself). They also still use concussion missiles in new canon. Vader's TIE has them listed in specs.

If by "well-recieved" you mean they're parroted around by people who only want to seem popular on the internet, then yes.

In reality, most people are mixed about them. They bring up SOME good points, but more often than not he fundamentally fails to understand how Star Wars works and he nitpicks everywhere. They're not really reviews by the end of it, they're just comedic bashing of the films.

If you were to review the OT the same way he did the prequels, you could just as easily call them bad movies.

The reason there's negative reaction to bringing them up in these threads is because

1. Basically everyone has already seen them
2. Shitposters and trolls often use the opportunity of them beign posted to derail the thread, even posting them themselves.
3. The arguments about the prequels have been done to death. There's nothing new to say about them. Some people like them, some like parts of them, others hate/dislike them.

The show kind of lost its charm after Ahsoka left. Season 6 was okay with pretty good order 66 and Yoda arcs, though it didn't escape some filler Jar Jar shit. Obi and Ani adventures on Utapau were okay with a pretty good reveal in the end.
Bad Batch and Vos-and-Ventress-doing-whatever the book didn't pick my interest. So having more filler like this without Ahsoka or at least some relevance to the main plot is kind of bad in my book.

>>
Do we know what the Resistance's troops look like?
>>
>>77480520
Why are you remembering shit that didn't happen?

We made the wiki. We made a few barebones pages.

Somone copied over the Timeline of canon media page for us to use as a basis for creating new articles(since, you know, it's got all the canon books/games/movies/etc on it). The intention was to use it until we had articles for everything and then re-do the page ourselves instead of using the wookieepedia layout.

Somehow or another, Wookieepedia discovered the wikia and Brandon Rhea(a Wikia staff member and wookieepedia editor. Might also run the Wookieepedia Twitter) came over and told us that we couldn't make a canon wikia for a bunch of bullshit reasons, and then when he saw the copied timeline he said that it was against wikia rules or something and told us we had to stop making the wikia. He also claimed that Wookieepedia owned the ability to make a timeline.

We told him very clearly and explicitly that we were only using the article as a basis for creating articles(and that we would be re-doing it ourselves at a later date).

He was having none of that, and then began a crusade to get us all to come to Wookieepedia and create articles. He might've even come into this thread briefly.

When that failed he used his Wikia staff powers to close our wikia, even though by Wikia's rules at the time(not sure if they've changed) we had done absolutely nothing wrong.

For a while we couldn't even reuse the wikia name, though I discovered a couple months ago that Wikia had opened it for re-use and re-created it.

It goes to reason that a 70-minute long critical analysis wouldn't be needed if you can't keep an audience drawn in. If you have to resort to stupid comedy, there's a problem.

He actually invited us to join in their wiki and help flesh out the canon articles.

I recall the intial reason against it was that making a "competing" wikia was pointless because it would never be as big or popular. When people pointed out the intention wasn't so much competition as the only way the canon articles were going to be made, due to the resistance the wook's admins and editors were putting up against canon articles. This is why his invitation to join them and help expand the canon articles was, sadly, pointless given those very same pressures and resistance from the entrenched members of their community. Nobody wanted to create a whole new wiki, it was a response to an inherent problem with the current one. Sadly things haven't gotten any better.

Also in TCWs Rex was shot with a high powered sniper rifle once. The clone medic said it was only his armor that saved his life. Of course he might have been referring to plot armor...

I don't know why they keep doing this. The 2 foot tall Vader sold poorly in 2013, yet they re-released it in 2014 (along with a huge Stormtrooper and a huge Inquisitor) and it similarly sold poorly. Now they decide they need a huge 4 foot version as well as a FO Stormtrooper, neither of which is selling and will likely end up in the clearance aisle after Christmas.

I don't know why they keep putting out these giant things and keep failing to understand that there isn't a market for them.

The first 10 minutes of the Phantom Menace review has an interview with Mike just asking his friends to describe about the characters. The prequel trilogy's weak characterizations is a legitimate gripe but the way it's done in the review is too subjective.

I'd say 85% of the reviews are gold-pressed latinum, but it's easy to understand why some people write them off.

/co/, say you're a vet TIE pilot with a couple of sorties left before being bumped up to a TIE Interceptor.

What would make you defect and become rebel scum?
>>
>>77481126
Yeah the big stuff is pretty weird. I can see it getting boring pretty fast, even if it does give a kid something their approximate size to whack with their plastic lightsabers. Still the store versions were fun. Since they were so close to the Christmas section some kids had made an effort to decorate one.

US toy stores are heavily into "marquee" items that they can display on the store floor, in displays or in the windows. They know these sell poorly but hope that they will attract buyers to buy other things.

It's pretty stupid.

"Hey Sabine, show me some of your collection from your old bounty hunting days. I know you've got one, every hunter collets something."
"Well okay, take a look."
"Whoa, is that a - these are all - WHY!?!"
"Hey, you got to keep score somehow and prove you took the target down."
"I thought you cut off ears! Or took scans!"

Honestly, could you describe Padme Amidala without saying what she looks like, what her profession is and what her role in TPM is? I couldn't because of how bland and boring she is.
>>
>>77481382

To be fair, padme is probably the blandest character out of all the major movie characters. Yeah Anakin is poorly acted, but at least he has a personality. Padme mostly just goes around reacting to the plot or exists to give Anakin angst.

Makes sense, really. Of course there's also the number of items they've spread out to, which is to be expected given how big this movie is already turning out to be even before it premieres! School supplies, Halloween items, ornaments, all a given. One thing I found kind of funny was the R2-D2 USB flash drive, you know, for storing secret plans on I guess? Can't even complain about that level of marketing since I also saw Peanuts versions.

I responded to the relevant parts. And you responded to none of my post. So who's the faggot here exactly?
>>
>>77481382
She is a hands-on leader. She is willing to do whatever it takes for the good of her people and later for the galaxy at large during TCW. She knows her way around a blaster.
>>
>>77481525

The logic behind "big" items traditionally was

>Oh wow look dad, they have Darth Vader! Can I have it pleaaase?
>Um, $99.99, let's see if they have a smaller one.

Attract their attention with something big and shiny and then they will likely compensation shop.

But yeah as you say, the marketing blitz for TFA is insane. It's worse than it was back in 99 with TPM merchandise I think, but this time I'm sure it won't all shelfwarm. Still, the sheer variety of crap that's already out is baffling.

>"There were a lot of things that would have been easier if Anakin had been 12 [as he was in the original outline]... It would have been easier to justify things like the Podrace or the way he is able to fly a starfighter at the end of the movie. But the problem was that a 12-year-old leaving his mother - as Anakin does - is not nearly as traumatic as a 9-year-old leaving his mother. And there is a key story point that revolves around the fact that he was separated from his mother at an early age, and how that has affected him."

What's weird is that no other Jedi child ever gets this problem even though they're taken from their parents at an even younger age. I guess you also need to have the evil gene.

>>
>>77481730
All other Jedi children are taken away when they've very young, before they're really growing attached to their parents.

They also didn't grow up as a slave.
>>
>>77481556
how do i get good?
I'm lvl 16 with some maxed out teir 1 blue gear and i still get my ass handed to me when i try to take on Risky missions
>>
>>77481730

That's the point. Anakin couldn't let go. It's not that other people didn't have to deal with the same shit he did.

That tall old guy we've seen in Rebels trailers is probably Kanan's dad.
>>
>>77481764

Children attach to their parents much much earlier than the Jedi children you see taken in in TCW. Unless of course parent bonding works different in the Star Wars universe.

>>77481783

Thus the evil gene. Or dark side gene, I guess.
>>
>>77481730
No I think that's an important point. If you take them early enough there's not enough development to anchor them. If you take them late enough they won't be so messed up, but they may not take as well to the Jedi training, so the Jedi discourage this.
>>
>>77481783

But young children also more easily can lose that attachment. True attachment doesn't happen until the child can actively remember stuff, closer to Anakin's age.

>Unless of course parent bonding works different in the Star Wars universe.
This is also a possibility

The games harder now for n00bs after the update.

You might have to do T3 to pass a mission that hard-- dont worry, you can grind high tier assaults later-- but also, make sure you have good abilities like lvl 2 scattergun with the lvl 2 charge ability or hold out blaster with power cell

Attachment is always going to exist, especially with the mother. I think the point is that if you take them at a very early age, that attachment doesn't become strong enough that it can't be broken. A Jedi who last saw his parents when he was a year old won't be as traumatized by it and likely won't have solid memories of them. A Jedi who left his mother at 9 is definitely going to feel that pain.

What are you talking about? I dont "police" the threads. I just don't think airing some fetish for other anons to see is a good idea, especially when it could attract weirder fetishists.
