I don't want a new series, I don't want a web comic, I just want an animated finale that picks up where the series cliffhangered the fuck out of me as a child.

Both Sozin's Comet and Ed Edd N'Eddy's Big Picture Show were good enough I think to be theatrical, and both concluded the series on character arcs which were immensely satisfying.

I remember when the first Spongebob movie would've been the finale of the series.

It really should have. After the movie the show has become a HUGE cringe fest. Some episodes from about right before 2006 are an except, but God damn.
