Everyone says the fight scenes are good but I think the way fights play out is awful. Its always obvious who is going to win. Either one person stomps the other completely or someone wins with just one attack. I have never watched a fight in this show and got too interested in it.

Also the fact that someones damage status is actually measured by a fucking life bar is stupid. Seeing somebody bleeding, clothes torn and beat up gives the fight a bit more character as you can try and imagine what the person is going through. In RWBY, you cant tell who is actually getting hurt because there is no blood or anything.

The character's personalities are very generic and seem to be barely developed.

Honestly, the show is pretty shit. Its something to watch or talk about but don't go in with high expectations because of how popular it is.

Gets better by season 2. Watched it while I was bed ridden and had nothing better to do. It's a typical weaboo waifu stereotype. Only watch it if you like over the top action sequences. Avoid if you hate cliches and girl power.

RWBY is not very good.

It's basically kung fu Harry Potter fanfiction. Highly derivative, nothing original about it, almost like they were reading tvtropes while writing it.

But the fight sequences are well animated, the girls are cute, and there is something charming about it.

I honestly think RT should really consider remaking season 1, given how really poor in quality it really is in comparison to the other seasons, especially when they plan to release it internationally. They probably made a ton of money of it already, so it can't be a budget issue. I mean, the background characters are literally silhouettes, like the ones you see in a video games of characters you haven't unlock yet.

Things like "it has a low framerate compared to other popular animations" or "the character designs are influenced by popular anime" could be objective, but I have no idea how anyone's supposed to take "it's good" or "it's bad" as if they're objective statements, you haven't even defined good our bad. You're opinion, including you opinion on what makes something good or bad is going to interface and compromise any supposed "objectivity"

I don't really think the writing is that great either, but the context of your quote is misleading since it's coming from a spy who's trying to stop the main characters from looking too closely into the other members of her team, it wasn't a line intended to provide characterization. That being sad the only character whose lines I regularly enjoy is Roman's and half of that is just because they are actually delivered decently.
