I'd say Fun Home is better. Both for analyzing and in general. Plus you'll get bonus points for choosing obscure coming of age story over the most well-known anti?capeshit of all time.

Try looking for long running series by the same art team. There's a countless amount outside of America with Japanese Manga and European Albums. A full arc or a full story can be worth hundreds or even thousands of pages.

And try Osamu Tezuka's Buddha. It's got a beginning, middle and end, but it's pretty long in page length.
