He just gets dealt a bad hand. Guy's been consistently competent and resourceful with the exception of the AT-TE episode. And even that just needed an explanation from him in-episode to not be as ridiculous as it looked.
>hasn't died yet despite physically engaging the Rebels, including two Jedi, regularly.
>manages to keep up with them across the galaxy and check them at almost every turn
>Almost got them in a trap with Senator Trayvis. Would've succeeded if the mole knew how to fire a blaster properly.
>Set a classic villain trap for them this episode that they fell for twice thanks to their altruism, failing mostly because of a prototype ship-killing fighter that no one in the Empire could possibly predict.
>would probably have taken out the clones and the rebels if Konstantine wasn't recalled by the Fifth Brother (wishful thinking, I guess, if the TIEs that Kallus could've called in would even be of any help in the fight given their usual track record).

Anyway, Kallus is doing the best any recurring villain in a kid's show can hope to accomplish.

We more or less saw what was going to happen in this episode from a mile away, so that does take away the enjoyment for some. The episode did have great scenery, music and animation, as well as moving the plot forward in terms of showing the Ghost Crew moving up in ranks in the Rebel Fleet.

While I don't agree with your statement, I will say the one with the inquisitors was really fucking lame. I don't think they could have made me care less about a villain than the new inquisitors.

The only ones that kept me intrigued so far were Siege of Lothal, and last weeks Brothers of the Broken Horn. The rest have been extremely underwhelming, for me at least.

Not that guy, but I can see what you're saying in regards to the new Inquisitor's too. Their story is simple, they want power after the Grand Inquisitor fell and will probably sabotage each other so the other inquisitor doesn't win.

Damn man ship battles are awful in Rebels. They're almost as bad as the OT with how "battles" consist of just drifting in a vaguely horizontal line across space.

To get the Rebels to come to the rescue of those people, and set a trap.

Kallus was talking about how the Rebels always come to those in need, and made a situation for them to come to those people's rescue. Damn good plan, it only failed due to the introduction of the B-Wing, a single B-wing at that.

I find it super weird Kallus was in charge of a ship

When his promo video explicitly said that wasn't something he would really do.

It's clear he is much more a brawler, and I want to see more of that from him. It was cool to see him fight in a personal way.

Where was that stated? I highly doubt the Empire would give him the authority to command an experimental, and powerful, ship like that. Plus the first one we see, get Byford Dolphin'd quickly.

Just as good or slightly worse than Lost Stars. I haven't personally finished TC yet, so I can't judge it for sure in full. Then again, I think all the books are good for a week or so after reading them until I realize the flaws.
>>
You know after rewatching Menace I realized that everything in the movie IS coherent, most of it is just stupidly convoluted and interwoven to the point of confusion. It also helps if you've seen the other movies to some degree, otherwise it really does just seem like a bunch of things are happening for some reason. Really could have used better editing. But I think the 6/10 it has on metacritic is fair enough. Hardly the monstrosity sensitive Star Wars make it out to be.

So I would say that while it sort of fails at being an easy to follow movie, I did rather enjoy it as a story. It has a distinct sort of "mythical fairy tale" vibe, moreso than the others. The slick retrofuturistic vibe of Coruscant and Naboo is very cool too.
>>
>>77406129
Well in that case, "dumbass", I refer to my previous point about them barely being shown. The recent short stories go into more detail about their role in the Battle of Endor, and I'm pretty sure it mentioned the beam and them destroying a Star Destroyer.

Pablo confirmed what some of us were thinking. We know the Rebels operate in cells, so the group seen in ANH and ESB is different than in ROTJ. In ROTJ, the rebels finally have a merged and coordinated fleet. They graduated to that level.
>>
>>77406841
They kinda default win everything though. The current efforts by the Rebels now are hardly mosquito bites. The first major victory that makes the Empire booty blasted are the Death Star plans. If they win too hard against the Rebel scraps now, it'll be weird to imagine how a Rebellion could pool together in the first place.
>>
>>77406841
It happened in Siege of Lothal, but that's only because Vader was there and if they wrote him losing, a million fanboys would be very angry. But yes, seeing the average Imperial win for once, even for a short while would be something different and nice to see.
>>
>>77406894
I would say they have a merged and coordinated fleet prior to ESB, since Twilight Company takes orders from "Alliance High Command" which to me sounds like Mothma, Ackbar, Rieekan, and so on handing out orders.
>>
>>77406904

Or it just feeds into the Multiple Cells and that "Major Victory" was for the Yavin cell.
>>
>>77406904
>The current efforts by the Rebels now are hardly mosquito bites.

The Rebels are hardly counting as mosquito bites. Sending in Tarkin, Vader, three Inquisitors and some ISB agents against the rebels, proved they're getting very powerful every day. In about four short years, the Rebels are going to destroy the Death Star.

I think this is a good thing, provided they avoid the dreaded status quo. However, apparently the show won't get to Clone Wars levels of darkness (any time soon).

Predict the season finales:
>S2: Group is split
>S3: Ezra goes dark side
>S4: Ahsoka dies.
>S5: Ezra sees the light + Kanan Dies
>S6: Papa Palpy abducts Ezra, the remaining crew survive to see the Death Star plans, Zeb and Chopper have fused, and the final shot is them watching the binary sun rise.

The only question I had was why the Imperials didn't deploy fighters to intercept the A-Wings, but I don't know much about the cruisers they were using to make up the blockade. I can't remember from Clone Wars if that model had space to hold fighters, like the Gonzanti does.

Star Wars hyperspace has always been wonky like that. The OT and PT never specified exactly how a hyperdrive worked because they knew then they wouldn't have a good explanation for why space blockades and whatnot could ever be a thing.

I think the closest explanation we get in current cannon is during the Lemur arc in TCW. Coming out of hyperspace too close to a planet or star doesn't give you enough time to safely position yourself for a landing.

Either I didn't watch closely and missed it, or they didn't.

It likely happened in the background. My real question is whether or not the Arquitens has the capability to carry fighters anyways, so it's not too important: those fighters could have always launched from the ground.
>>
>>77408526
Hyperspace only enables jumps from specific angles. The reason the blockade was facing their direction in the first place was because it was either the most likely or the only position they would appear out of Hyperspace. Part of why blockades even work at all in Star Wars is because Hyperspace creates predictable space lanes that are hard to go around.

For example, the Rookies episode of TCW shows Grievous' fleet making a sublight advance on Kamino, through that moonbase the clones were guarding. If they tried a frontal assault out of Hyperspace, the Republic fleet would've been right in front of them, but the route they were trying to take may have given them a completely unguarded angle on Kamino.

In Star Wars, ships use pre-programmed hyperspace routes or lanes. The blockades are placed near the exit points of these lanes.

Also, the blockades have planet-wide range, and are much closer to the planet, since ships drop out of hyperspace far away from the planets for obvious reasons. That means that no matter where you try to enter the planet from, your ship will always be intercepted as it nears the planet.

Like, sorta, imagine a city, and there are, like, only three ways into the city.
The first is by, like, via a big old highway that goes right in there, yeah? But the problem with that is that the, like, police can block the highway, and force you to pull over.
The second way is by, like, going through all the little alleyways and streets and stuff of the suburbs below.
The third way is by, like, hijacking a plane and flying it into the city, but there's, like, no where to park the land the damn thing, except, like, into a building?
So, it's sort of like that, except the city is a planet, and only the first way works because, like, the space suburbs are, like, fucking massive, and the plane idea is really expensive and you'll probably die or something.

So, like, do you sort of, y'know, get it now?

>Nothing will stand in our way. I will finish, what you started

who's he talking to?
who started what?

There's a very simple answer to that question, and it should be obvious to anyone who isn't a total kek.

He's talking to Supreme Leader Snoke.

but wait a minute, what did snoke begin? you might say

Snoke actually planned the fall of the republic and the rise of the empire. He planned the destruction of the Jedi and made sure the sith (actually just himself) will rule the galaxy in an eternal Sith empire. but snoke's apprentice fucked up by being a top kek and letting a few rebels destroy "his" empire.

>b-but that must mean...

yes, exactly

Supreme Leader Snoke is actually pic related

search your feelings, you know it to be true.
>>
>>77409882
I think Lucas and/or Filoni eventually realized Dooku's head looked too outlandish, but by then they'd already used that look for two seasons so they couldn't outright revamp him without breaking visual continuity (it'd be weird to go from the long muppet head to then having a normal head for the rest of the show) so they tweaked it as much as they could without making it look too different.
>>
>>77409883

It is mainly that the Empire's elite are seemingly defeated by a punch of primitives.

It wouldnt have been so bad if the Battle of Endor was presented that right as the Rebels were doomed, the Ewoks attacked and distracted the Empire long enough for the Rebel Commandos to regroup and counter-attack but what we see is that the Ewoks and Chewie almost solo this task force of elite soldiers that have armor support while Han tries to open a door and the Commandos simply arnt seen beyond peripheral in like 2 shots.

Yeah, the lemur episodes make an attempt at discussing the role of pacifism and non-involvement in a war (which is a valid idea, since the lemurs really don't have any stake in the war and are just trying to do their own thing) but it does it in a terrible, ham-fisted way that feels like it was written by someone with no understanding of the idea.

I still wonder what happens to the rest of the saber when one of the side-emitters get's cut off.
Will it short-circuit? Is every emitter a closed system that does not effect the other two? Will it blow up in his hands?

Whatever the case, it's effect is only psychological. And maybe against non-lightsaber wielding enemies.
Who knows maybe it plays a part in his defeat!
>>
>>77411018
Why would the pilot want to dial the yield down so far that his shots are little better than a blaster? Wouldn't they want more powerful shots for greater area of effect and thus greater chance of actually killing something when moving at speeds where it's very, very difficult to hit a target the size of a human?

Even the ultra low power scatter shots used early in the Vong war, that barely scratch starfighters, could boil infantry to death. (Yeah, okay, not canon, but the principle stands)

>Also because powerlevels have never been very high in the SW films, only in the supplementary materials and EU books written by fans.

It is the direct opposite. Nearly all the fuckhuge numbers for weapon yields, shielding and industrial capacity are directly from analyzing the films, while the old EU was infamous for its minimalism and the new EU shapes up to be even worse. In the very Ep.IV we had starfighter-grade weapons instantly vaporizing any unshielded craft and causing the Death Star's surface constructions expode in quite massive clouds of superheated gas.

But speaking about that screenshot, the strange angle on the laser blast makes me wonder if it is even supposed to be coming from the X-Wing.

>But speaking about that screenshot, the strange angle on the laser blast makes me wonder if it is even supposed to be coming from the X-Wing.
You mean like is the Stormtrooper the one who's shooting at the X-Wing?
The angle would make more sense for that, but the fact that the X-Wing's gun is glowing red, and that there is an explosion right infront of the Stormtrooper seems to imply it is the X-Wing, so yeah, I'm pretty sure that the intention was that the X-Wing shot him, ever if it looks silly.

>Abrams was willing to go a little further and reveal some of the backstory behind Kanata and the castle she inhabits with a court of misfits and miscreants. “Her history is that she was a pirate for a long time,” he says. “She’s lived over a thousand years. She’s had this watering hole for about a century, and it’s like another bar that you’d find in a corner of the Star Wars universe.”

>What kind of species is she? What is her homeworld? “All that backstory will be forthcoming,” Abrams says. “In the movie, you don’t learn these things, but I know that these are things that are coming out in other venues.” So keep your own eyes out for more of Maz’s past to be fleshed out in books or games.

>It is the direct opposite. Nearly all the fuckhuge numbers for weapon yields, shielding and industrial capacity are directly from analyzing the films

Only due to extremely selective fandom memory and lots of vagaries. For example, fans decided that turbolaser shots totally vaporize asteroids and starships due to explosion effects not really being at a level at the time of A New Hope where they could realistically depict a proper detonation. In reality, the visual effect is just indicative of what the effects team were capable of doing (which was incredible at the time), not of the power of turbolasers.

Like I said, supplementary materials written by extreme fanboys.
>>
>>77412016
Different Anon and gotta agree with you.
Clear indication that within the narrative of the films Turbolasers weren't that powerful, is the fact that Vader's ship couldn't follow the Millenium Falcon into the asteroid field.
They had only a couple dozen asteroids around them in any of the shots, and probably hundreds of turbolasers riddling the side of the Star Destroyer. If they were that powerful, and it wouldn't be just fans seeing too much into visual effects, then narratively, it would make no sense why a Star Destroyer couldn't just cut a way through an asteroid field guns blazing.

(1)"What was shown on screen is not what was shown on screen!" is so obviously a non-argument that you should be ashamed to even bring it up.

(2)And PT offered us material to specifically debunk your idiotic claim that

>For example, fans decided that turbolaser shots totally vaporize asteroids and starships due to explosion effects not really being at a level at the time of A New Hope where they could realistically depict a proper detonation.

Every unshielded droid starfighter hit by starfighter-grade weaponry in PT still explodes in a cloud of superheated gas. A fairly short burst from Anakin's starfighter turbolasers makes a construction the size of a five-story building make of an extremely heat-resistant material explode in a cloud of superheated gas. Slave I spams turbolaser blasts that completely pulverize rocks the size of MBTs for a couple of minutes straight, and drops city-buster seismic charges (and Slave I is a privately owned small freighter field-customized with weapons). Even heavy ground weapons cut through dozens to hundreds of meters of armor and metal decks with little problem.
>>
>>77412174
>Star Destroyer couldn't just cut a way through an asteroid field guns blazing.

They could and they fucking did, try to watch the actual film some day.

The imperial squadron only became unable to follow when the asteroid field became so unbelievably dense that starfighters had severe problems finding spaces to fly through, and so following was basically only slightly easier than physically burning your way straight through a planet.

And I have seen the episode, thanks. Infact, let us look at it together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLtlcSR9A6M
Notice how the only asteroids they manage to blow up are barely bigger than their laser blasts themselves? The same blasts that were much, much smaller than the Blockade Runner from Episode IV? Infact, smaller than a Tie-Fighter?
Infact, let's look at the Tie-Bombers right afterwards, which are bombing the bigger asteroid, with likely some Grade A millitary ornaments and not doing as much as creating a noticable crater in their wake.

That is not the powerlevels the fans paint, where one of those blasts could level a city district.

I think there was one more, but I can't quite remember who/what it was.
>>
>>77412789
The core run-and-gun gameplay is actually pretty tight. The game feels like Star Wars more than any other vidya. That is really helped along by the amazing sound and visuals. The animations when the characters dodge blaster fire or get hit and go tumbling to the ground are incredibly well-done.

But the lack of content is embarrassing. And some of the design decisions, like removing starfighters from the maps to make them powerups, or hell, the fact that powerups are so important in the first place are just stupid. And no Clone Wars era, no space battles, only 4 planets, these things make the game just feel like a ripoff.

Until they release a version with all the DLC included I won't be buying.

Don't blame Disney because the writers can't make interesting characters and situations, this is on them, solely.

Like with Hera last episode, she just talks about her dreams on Ryloth and then he's so moved by it, he say's ok you're really the best pilot and gives her the proto B-wing?

Why couldn't she have just stole it to try for a test drive or something and Quarrie sees her flying it really well and says he hasn't seen flying that good in a long time, and grudgingly lets her have it?

Speaking of powerlevels in the films, remember that the shots from a N1 fighter did NOT vaporize droidekas and scorch the hangar walls from sheer residual heat and knock everyone flat from the shockwave in TPM. They punched through the shields and killed the droids, that's it.
Now maybe you want to argue that the N1 is a pre Clone War decorative piece of shit and an X-wing from the Galactic Civil War can pulverize asteroids with a quad burst, I dunno.

>>
>>77413112
I don't think the writing is bad in Rebels, or at the very least I don't think Clone Wars had it particularly better. The only line that bugs me in season 2 so far is "No, prepare for ground assault". Like they give no reason why Kallus doesn't do an orbital bombardment even though they could have with 1 extra sentence gave us several, and worse yet they could have just not said that line all together and no one would have even thought of orbital bombardment but the most nitpicky fans.

In any case, I'm enjoying Rebels more than Clone Wars right now, and I think people have some extremely rose tinted goggles about the best moments of Clone Wars while ignoring the 80% of it that was no where near that. Rebels is a different show, it's all a giant "DnD" adventure of a cast of heroes and kinda reminds me of Gargoyles. What it sacrifices in jobbing it makes up for to me in a much more coherent and fun running plot and actual progression rather than just jumping from 1 arc to another with nothing to connect them.
>>
>>77413219

Because unlike you he doesn't want to just gobble any shit disney flungs his way. Feedback is necessary for a show to get better.
>>
>>77413219
>with what's given to you?
What's given to us is boring writing and easy outs for the good guys. We predicted what was going to happen an hour or so before the episode was going to air, and it did. There is no excuse for this bland writing from Filoni and others.

I like Rebels, but seriously, this is some wooden storytelling, especially from the latest episode.
>>
>>77413187
And it still plays nothing like CoD. Dont just spout memes you here on /v/

In CoD you cant look down the zoom of your weapon shooting while moving at normal speed and trying to dodge enemy blasters by strafing left and right and even if you get hit it isnt a big deal because you have survivability.

Not counting the Vehicles.

If you dont like it that is fine. God knows I agree about the stupidity that is no single player (game is 60 dollars though) but saying it is "CoD skinned Star Wars" is crazy because the only thing they share in common is they have guns.
>>

Come on, it's pretty obvious. Everything that has happened so far had been predicted months before S2E2 came out, from people analyzing the trailer alone.

Even things like the relationship between Kanan and Rex and the role of different characters was seen from a mile away.
Hondo's was the only episode in which I was actually intrigued to find out what would happen.

TCW kept me interested through and through; even though we all knew the ultimate fate of all characters involved, sa ve for Ahsoka, it still twisted and turned and mixed things up enough to keep me hooked.

Rebels has been pretty generic so far.
>>

Go ahead, name three games that are more similar to that game mode and older than CoD and I'll admit to being wrong.

Small scale, kill streaking, xp-racking, weapon unlocking, with sprinting, no prone, no leaning, aiming down the sights and health regen.
>>
>>77413554
It is King of the Hill. Fuck loads of games have King of the Hill.

As for CoD. How about you compare the two games side by side.

In CoD you cant look down the scope/use thezoom of your weapon shooting while moving at normal speed and trying to dodge enemy blasters by strafing left and right and even if you get hit it isnt a big deal because you have survivability.

Not counting the Vehicles.

Just because they have similar game modes does not mean the gameplay itself is ANYTHING alike.

When I can kill an enemy at long range by strafing him while looking down the sights of my pistol and dodging his fire and then immediately jump in a plane and strafe ground infantry and destroy tanks, then we can the gameplay of CoD and this game is the same.

How about you compare it to Battlefield instead of CoD. That is a little bit close (but the infantry combat is still radically different)
>>
>>77413484

They'll meet, their rivalry will be obvious, Sabine will resent her, they'll be bitter towards each other for the entire episode, but something will happen, they'll end up cooperating to foil some big evil imperial scheme, her sister will then do something shitty and they'll part ways bitterly again.
>>
>>77413554
>Go ahead, name three games that are more similar to that game mode

How about any fucking game that has a king of the hill game mode? Jesus Christ.

>Small scale

Call of Duty hardly invented this.

>kill streaking

Wrong.

>xp-racking

Plenty of other games do this. I don't like it, I wish Battlefront had stayed class-based. But Call of Duty is not the only game to do this. Hell, this isn't even the first Battlefront to do it. Both the PSP titles had similar customization shticks.

>weapon unlocking

Hardly Call of Duty specific. Even Battlefront 2 had a very rudimentary weapon unlock system via the award weapons, and that's saying nothing of the PSP titles.

>with sprinting

Battlefront 1 and 2 had sprinting. Call of Duty didn't invent sprinting.

>no prone

Only the first Battlefront had prone.

>no leaning

Battlefront never had leaning.

>aiming down the sights

New Battlefront doesn't have ADS, it has zoom, just like the old Battlefronts. Doesn't slow down your movement speed either, unlike Call of Duty.

>health regen

Again, hardly Call of Duty specific. Doesn't mean I like it though. I'd much rather have health and ammo droids back, just like I'd rather have fixed ship spawns and little to no powerups.

But these things do not a Call of Duty clone make. In fact I'm beginning to suspect that your experience with the Battlefront series is as limited as your experience with the rest of the FPS genre.

New Battlefront does a whole lot wrong, but to say it's a Call of Duty clone is to paint yourself as an idiot.

Say what you want, but the comparision is valid. It feels a lot like a modern shooter, and CoD IS the best example. >If Snoke is a “damaged” character, that raises the question: Did his wounds come from the clash between the Rebellion and the Empire, seen in the original Star Wars trilogy? Serkis hesitates here, but then says he believes Snoke was outside of that conflict.
>“No, he’s a new character in this universe. It is very much a newly-introduced character,” Serkis says. “He’s aware of what’s gone on, in the respect that he has been around and is aware of prior events. I think it’d be fair to say that he is aware of the past to a great degree.”

>You guys still haven't named any other games that feel similar to this.
You know what game DOES NOT feel similar to this one. CoD. You would know that if you tried playing CoD and then followed it up with the Beta. They two play totally different.

Also I LIKE CoD. (The single player at least) so Im not biased against it.

Please explain how the gameplay feels anything like CoD that is unique CoD feature.

Sense CoD has a lower TTK, inability to dodge weapon fire, ADS slows you down and makes you more accurate, lacks vehicles, lacks co-op allies you can spawn on. unlimited ammo (with a reload mechanic from GoW) it really is NOTHING like CoD and saying "but it is like CoD" does not make it so.

Whoah, calm down. I'm still going to watch the movie, I think it looks quite entertaining. I'm just saying... Okay, George has been really cagey about the sequel trilogy for years. Back in the 80s he claimed to have extensive treatments for them, but when the prequels came around he started saying that he never really had ideas for the sequels, and that the story of Star Wars was about Anakin Skywalker and all that stuff that got wrapped up in ROTJ. You don't really need to know what happened next because the important thing is that the prophecy was fulfilled.

So I'm just saying, right now, given what we know, I sort of agree with George. Disney's sequel trilogy seems like a bonus story in a way, and that's just reinforced to me by the big bad being a brand new character who's only "aware" of the previous events.

I'm still super excited to go and see the movie though.

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but if you think the new BF feels more similar to any of those than modern shooters you're fucking delusional. I played the Beta from the moment it was available to the moment they shut it down, almost incessantly, and I enjoyed it a lot, but it's really fucking ignorant to claim it doesn't feel like a modern shooter ala CoD and Battlefield 3/4.

I'm a huge fan of the classic battlefront, and the second one is probably my favorite shooter of all time, and this feels absolutely nothing like those two games. Load outs, no classes, health regenenartion, experience points, game pacing, it's all obviously pandering to the newer gamers than to us, fans of the classic BF.

If you like the game, that's fine, but don't ride in all defensive on your "old-school gamur" high horse and pretend the game isn't casualized as fuck.

Why are you faggots so fucking defensive about this? He said the KOTH mode felt a lot like a CoD match, and I, and a lot of other people who were fans of the original, seem to agree; That's how we feel about it, just deal with it, you sperg. Jesus.

>I'm not the guy you're replying to, but if you think the new BF feels more similar to any of those than modern shooters you're fucking delusional

And I'm not the guy you're replying to but if you think that's what he's saying then you apparently lack any sort of reading comprehension. The rest of your post is just ignorant rambling.

>Because if you are trying to argue Battlefront is a CoD game

I'm not. Literally my only point was "Walker Assault was good, Drop Zone felt like generic modern shooter", I used CoD because it's the most obvious example for that.

>>77413884

This. Although I'll say that Walker Assault felt close to what I want from a Battlefront game.

Scout Troopers enjoy more customization options for their armor so they can adapt to different environments. But I suppose they'd just camo-paint their armor if stealth was an issue. Biker scouts probably don't go for it because, fuck they're bikes are insanely loud as it is. But creepy sniper stalker troopers would probably go camouflage if they can.

But didn't you know? It's against imperial regulations for scout troopers to be deployed anywhere outside of forest planets.
