PREDICTION TIME FOR NEW EPISODE!

http://strawpoll.me/5979506
>>
>>77388203
The heavy casualties one.

But considering that the casualties will only be nameless, easily replaced mooks it's really the first option.
>>
>>77388191
Ehh, doesn't really matter

>>77388183
She's been bumped up to main character now according to Filoni. I think the upcoming Mandalore episode(s) is going to be the defining episodes where Sabine truly becomes a main character on the show.

But otherwise, she's decent, I like how she is the only character to have no problem with killing, and they don't even focus on it, it just kinda' happens.
>>
>>77388233
Yeah, perhaps it's a little too predictable. They wouldn't give Hera her own episode about the Proto-B-Wing if it wasn't going to be a success in some way, and they wouldn't bother having nameless extra Rebels if they weren't going to be used as canon fodder to "raise the stakes."
>>
>>77388235
Yeah Sabine has the most on screen kills I think, beating even Chopper.

She just runs around headshotting fuckers.
>>

Usual kids succeed the adults type deal with her and Ezra.
>>
>>77388356
what ever one is more complete. The character is receiving it about a week or two after obiwan has replaced it, and its his first hearing of the betrayal. It needs to be enough that he understands what order 66 is and that he needs to go into hiding.
>>
>>77388306
"This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and reminder for any surviving Jedi: Trust in the Force.

Do NOT return to the Temple. That time has passed and our future is uncertain. Avoid Coruscant. Avoid detection. Be secret... But be strong. We will each be challenged: Our trust, our faith, our friendships. But we must persevere, and in time, I believe a new hope will emerge.

May the Force be with you always."

(Long message, Kanan #2)

"This is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Republic forces have been turned against the Jedi. Avoid Coruscant, avoid detection. Stay strong. May the Force be with you."

(Shorter message, A New Dawn)

She is? Not knocking her, the only thing terrible about her is her S2 hair choice, but so far in the aired episodes, she's been more of a bland background character except for one or two shootouts with stormtroopers.

I know that's probably going to change with the episodes focused on her, but what makes her one of the better characters over, say, Kanan or Hera?
>>
Should I storytime the new comics?

Yes.
>>
>>77388183

I really dislike the cheesey as fuck ARTSY REBEL thing she has going on, it's 90s as fuck, like something out of a saturday morning cartoon. It doesn't blend well with the OT feel Rebels has going for it at all.

What's wrong with making her look like a regular bounty hunter? Why does she have to be all painted in pink and orange and shit? It's just awkward.

I'm watching all the canon stuff in chronological order. I've never seen or read anything except the movies. I'm about to start the final (Ahsoka) arc of season 5.

My question is, should I skip both the Kanan Comic and the Rebels TV show, due to them not being finished? Does Rebels (and the Kanan comic as he's in Rebels) get mentioned etc. in anything post Rebels in the canon timeline?

Holy shit Twilight Company is great. I'm only half way through the book and the majority of Twilight Company has been killed either on Hoth or on their main ship.
Some interesting things I got from it so far though"
>Main character talks to Han about how they are not that committed to the Rebellion, all without a Han name drop.
>Juggernauts from the Commander(?) game are shown in the book, as well as the troop transports from Lothal
>501st is canonically on Hoth again
>A CLONE was still serving in the Imperial army as of the Battle of Hoth, but he was "very old sounding" and on Sullust
>>
>>77388933
Vader.

Obviously.
>>
>>77388921

Dude, the fourth chapter came out in 1977.
The third chapter came out in 2005.
The series that bridges the II and III chapter came out in 2008.

Don't try to follow Star Wars chronologically. It's not only impossible, it's not meant to be consumed like that.

Right? And especially when Bounty Hunters are the coolest looking characters in Star Wars, they have that distinct "Space Wasteland" look to them, but they chose to through that in the trash and go with "generic modern hipster" look which is already dated because it looks like 2006 tween fashion.

I'd say go for it anyways on Rebels.

Hell, I'm mixing Legends shit into my TFA lead-up marathoning. Sandwiched the CG Clone Wars between Genndy Wars, the space between III and IV is gonna be Droids, Rebels and Star Tours II, putting the Holiday Special between ANH and Empire, watching all that Ewok stuff before Return of the Jedi and capping the whole thing off with Star Tours. Just started Season 4 of TCW last night.

I'm really disappointed with Rebels character design so far, especially because OT stuff had some great looking characters.

Also, if she wanted to differentiate herself from Bounty Hunter, she probably shouldn't be wearing a fucking Mando armor.

A million times this.

Star Wars characters should look cool, that's what a huge part of the franchise is built upon: cool looking shit. But Rebels is looking really lame, so far.

The Inquisitors, the ships, the main cast... it's all really bland.

Just check out the characters from any of the Dark Horse comics, like Legacy.

Not saying Legacy had great design, but it looked closer to what a Star Wars series should.

Hell, the extras in any of the films look cooler than Rebels main cast.

When I think about OT visuals, I think about dusty, dirty cowboy-types, I think Dash Rendar and Tales of the Jedi, I think about scraped-together rebels ships going against monolithic, shiny imperial armadas.

Rebels just looks too clean, too bland, at least as of now.

The clones on their AT-TE roaming that desert looked more like what an OT main cast should look like than the main characters do.

The New Hope and Jedi ones are actually pretty decent.
New Hope in particular is more focused on filling in margins then being straight-up the movie. Lot of nods to the Radio Play.

A story set after Episode IV. Perhaps it would be set on one planet like Lothal, but surrounding a story of Imperials. There would be much dialogue, but deep intense action. It shouldn't involve too much acrobatic feats, but enough costumes, props, sets, and filmmaking technology to capture the same essence as the original film. It would be like HBO's Rome, but in space.

>>

Are you dense? Do you not understand the meaning of "out of place"?

Jar Jar is canon, and a lot of people criticize his role as out of place in Episde I, as unecessary comedic relief, etc.

That's all I'm saying here, Sabine looks awkward, she looks too much like a modern teenager, she doesn't match the look of most OT Star Wars characters, that's all.

Not that guy, but thats whats been said about the direction of the new trilogy. I believe J.J. Abrams or another crew member wanted to take the setting of Star Wars and plunge it into a similar tone to reflect our world. The Prequel Trilogy owned that retrofuturism feeling, while the Original Trilogy took that and made up a "used future" direction. With that in mind, I hope that J.J. will take this new saga into a good path.

>"Rey, Finn, and Kylo, they all start off in a place where they have been led to feel like they’re wanting," says Daisy Ridley. In this sequence, first seen in the Oct. 19 trailer, she is spelunking through the heart of a long-dead Star Destroyer. "She’s never sat around a table and had a meal with someone else. She works to feed herself, and she goes to sleep, and she gets up again. It is a sad life," Ridley adds. "The film, for Rey, is a journey of finding out that no one is no one."

>>
>>77392003
It's the effects. The prequels came out too clean and sterile what with the majority of them being computer-generated, while the grit and grime all over the OT was a byproduct of all the real grit and grime from wherever they were filming at the time.

As for vehicles, the difference was intentional and well-executed, with Imperial tech designed to look weathered and well-used while Rebel tech was supposed to look second-hand and junky on purpose. Contrasted with the PT ships and equipment of the CIS and Republic, most of which is fresh off the assembly line right into the warzone. Clone armor in RotS looked much dirtier with chipped paint and obvious wear-and-tear to show how the war had changed things.

A shame they're probably going to beat around and avoid Coruscant for this reason when it's such an important location in the franchise, and a personal favorite one.
>>
>>77392003
You're forgetting Kamino and it's clean clone facilities.
Back then Star Wars was unique because of it's dirtier look and feel which was totally different to other sci fi like Star Trek for example. The characters in the prequels however seem to live like upper class snobs, if you look at recurring locations like the Jedi council chamber, the senate building, the opera house or many other interior scenes. It's not really a bid deal to me, but it gives the prequels a certain atmosphere that people don't like.

>Some fans speculate that Rey's weapon of choice looks suspiciously like the staff lightsaber of Darth Plagueis, the Sith lord who served as master of Emperor Palpatine back in his Darth Sidious apprenticeship. Daisy Ridley has heard that guesswork, too. "I mean everyone is praying that it’s Darth Plagueis’s staff. But... it’s just a staff," Ridley says. "She’s a young woman in a galaxy by herself. It’s not primarily a weapon, it’s useful as well. It does all sorts of things roamin’ around Jakku. She uses it to defend herself. That’s really as far as it goes, unfortunately." Asked if it's electrified, like a cattle prod, and the actress tries — and fails — to stifle a laugh. "Cattle prod! No, she doesn’t have a charger!" she says. "It’s just a plain old staff!”

Now, you retards can shut the fuck up about this.

I'm hoping that Chandrila will show up in it's place, if we need a city-planet to focus plot on, since the New Republic set that as their capital. But a passing glance or two at Coruscant for whatever reason wouldn't be too bad.

>>

It was actually inspired by the fall of the Roman empire. Aesthetically, in WW1 Germany.

That is a main influence of the series, though, it's what it revolves around:

Space Opera, Samurai films, Westerns, WW2, Roman Empire, etc.

But something like modern pop-culture has never been a part of the films. Things like modern fashion trends have no place in SW.
>>
>First Order stormtroopers lay down intense cover fire within Starkiller Base. Many have been conscripted and indoctrinated with hate and fear of what the Rebellion stood for. Why risk their lives for this cause? They've been taught that's all they're good for.
>>
>That's right: Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma wasn't the only female in armor. "We had women in stormtrooper costumes in the movie," Abrams says, so audiences will be seeing a mixed gender fighting force from The First Order whether they realize it or not. (The armor isn't form-fitting, of course.)

This movie is sounding better and better.

>It’s a lonely existence scrounging for sustenance on a junkyard planet. Rey was ditched on Jakku by her family when she was a child and has no idea why — or why they never returned. “She’s been alone for a long time,” Ridley says. "When something occurs when you’re 5, you know what went on but you don’t understand the reasoning. She's hopeful for what lies ahead, whether that involves the past or not." So why hasn’t abandonment made her bitter, angry, and… prone to the Dark Side? “Hope makes people good, a lot of the time,” Ridley says. “You hope for a brighter future, and resentment is outweighed.”

Ciena's fate is unknown, but with everything that happened to her over the course of the book, it's pretty easy to assume how she and Thane end up. I like the idea of the mythology being mysterious and all; if you grew up in the 90s, you'd know a lot of Star Wars shit just had no answer, it was all broad strokes and pretty vague, and it was really intriguing. Too much exposure can ruin a mythos.

I'd like it if they end up fighting semi-secretly, but not on purpose. Like, they aren't concerned with keeping it a secret, but usually no one is around when shit is going down, so most of it ends up being heard about as an urban legend. People would know the Jedi and Sith are real, but they wouldn't know if all the stories are true.
And if we get to see it, I'd like young Darth bane to be like pic related.

Reintroduce him alongside Revan, both of whom are in the same timeframe.

the Jedi are in their proto stage, with no central leadership or tenants, and the Sith have arisen.
Bane is the leader of the Sith, a fractious horde of backstabbers who are only held together by Bane's will, and Revan is a fallen jedi who joins them, but later becomes horrified when he realises what they truly are.
Using their nature against them, Revan divides them and ends up crashing them with no survivors, save for Bane.
Revan and Bane duel, with Revan defeating but not killing Bane, who creates the rule of two to ensure such infighting can never threaten the Sith again.
It's sort of like poetry for how Sidious eventually defeated the jedi, but didn't finish them off.

You could probably add Mangoes in there as well somewhere.

Sith and Jedi make war using superweapons

not the point. Zannah and Bane had a great duel in the old canon (with a controversial ending, but whatever), that was nearly-perfect closure for his story. It was a perfect passing-the-torch moment (even if he may have been passing the torch to himself) that fulfilled everything Bane worked for when building his Rule of Two. If Jedi are his end in the nucanon, it better be written at least as well as his old death.

Zannah comes from a backwater world where everyone is known by nicknames and nobody tells their real names to anyone who isn't related to them. It's bad luck to tell someone your real name.

Her nickname was Rain. When Bane took her as his apprentice, she gave up her old life and took her real name as her Sith name.

It kind of helps that when Bane found her, she was on a completely different planet and everyone who'd ever known her thought she was dead.

Darth Gravid was invented for the Darth Plagueis novel as an explanation of why the movie Sith never whip out the crazy awesomeness of the old Sith.

Gravid eventually went mad and decided that the dark side would be the Sith's undoing, so he became one of the only light-side Sith Lords in history, and destroyed all the Sith teachings he could get his hands on. His apprentice interrupted him and killed him before he could get it all, but so very much was lost that the Great Plan was set back centuries.

I knew this sounded fishy, how could an apprentice that apparently can't restore that knowledge possibly defeat him? Just walk up behind him and stab him while he was crazy? Nope, apparently this whole thing is bullshit to the next level.

>Gravid was interrupted by his apprentice, Gean, who had penetrated the barriers around the fortress so that she could stop her Master from destroying the Sith's resources of knowledge. In the ensuing duel, Gravid managed to severely injure the Twi'lek by cleaving off one of her arms and shoulders as well as the left side of her face and chest. Eventually, Gean managed to overpower Gravid, killing him despite her being unarmed.

This is some Monty Python Black Knight level of WHAT

She wrote some great episodes of TCW.

She also wrote pretty much everything to do with Ventress and the first Maul arc (though not the Mandalore one).

There's a lot of overlap between these sets, so she's generally a good writer, but she has a bad habit of handing characters the idiot ball to force the result she wants now and then.

In our world.

Ezra is also a teenager, but he acts and looks like a star wars character.

Sabine's personality is not the problem, just her looks and her "street art" thing that are awfully misplaced in the show, in my opinion. It really looks like something you'd see in a kids cartoon for audience pandering only, something TCW had avoided. Do you guys really don't see the difference?

It's like if they were playing disco music in the cantina scene, and Han had a man-perm.

Everything recognizable in star wars is timeless, not from its time.

Classic Diners are from early 20th century, military influences are from WW2, Samurai flicks and Western influences from the 50s, general Space Opera from 30s and 40s literature and film serials; it's all classic influences, they're not pop-culture from the time the films were made.

One thing is adapting an element of our culture (bars, diners, ww2 weapons) and adapting them into this sci-fi universe.

Another completely different thing is just taking something from our recent society and implement it into the show, like Sabine looking and acting exactly like a teenager from our time who also happens to shoot stormtroopers.

You guys are way too defensive about this, we're not saying Sabine is a horrible character and she should be scrapped from the show or anything, just that she LOOKS out of place, and a lot of people are saying the same thing. This is why the Star Wars fandom is shit sometimes, because heaven forbid we have different characters that don't act like old ones. We say we want new things, then when we get new people, places and things, we complain that it's too new and would rather have the old again.

Yeah, it's meant to be a blood spray. It looks more like a red dust cloud or something.

I've personally settled for interpreting it as a blood spray that was cauterized by Obi-Wan's saber as it came out, so instead of liquid blood, we have all these little dried blood flakes producing the dust could.

>We say we want new things, then when we get new people, places and things, we complain that it's too new and would rather have the old again.

That has literally never been a problem with the SW fandom ever.
New characters are almost always well received when they're good. Maul and Qui-Gon were one of the only things people old fans liked about TPM when it came out, and they're pretty different from what we had before, especially Maul and his dual bladed saber at the time.
The clones were extremely well received, so was Asajj, and a lot of other things introduced in the comics and prequel films.

There are a bunch of stories on scum and villany in the EU, In fact it's one of the most common themes when touching OT era stuff.

It's like having a super cool martial monk in Middle-Earth; it just looks out of place. Could he be a cool character? Sure, but it's inconsistent with what we expect from the setting. That's completely understandable, there's no reason to get so defensive about this criticism.

It's not; I thought so too, but if you watch closely it's like a really thin mist that goes up.

Are you color blind? That could perhaps alter your perception of it maybe?

It's the glow of the lightsaber poking up on the bottom of the screen. If it was red blood mist, there would be some in the frames afterwords on his clothing. There isn't

Why would it be his saber glow? His saber is down to his side, since he's standing there like a lemon doing fucking nothing. If there's any saber glow it ought to be green, because Maul isn't moving his saber.

Also, glows don't fade away like mist does.
>>
>>77401178
Watch the video, there is blood spatter when Maul is being cut in half.

See the red haze coming up from the bottom of the screen?

That's the "blood mist".

It wasn't there in the original test screenings, but it was added digitally afterwards because audiences were confused as to what happened there, so they added this "blood mist" to make it clear that he'd been cut in half.

It's not the glow from his saber; it appears as soon as we hear the cut sound effect, and is gone seconds later. It is meant to indicate Obi-Wan cutting through Maul.

It's not on his clothes because it wasn't originally in the shot at all.

Maybe if you live in some backwater childfucking society. But I live in the developed world. We don't take wives at age 12 because of a life expectancy of 30
>>
>>77401633
The Empire is going to do fine and kick some Rebel ass, until Hear and the B-Wing prototype save the day. Then they'll get their asses handed to them and Kallus is going to have that angry scowl on his face again.

That New Imperial weapon might be mentioned at the end of the episode as well.
