First of all, Laura had emotions even going back to her origin mini. That's the entire point of the story - that she wasn't a weapon, she was just a little girl. The only time she's really not had emotions is fucking NYX because Quesada is a garbage writer.

Second, yeah, it's good that she can actually talk to people without being an extreme autist like here, but that doesn't mean she just becomes an ordinary person with ordinary speech patterns. You don't just lose the way you were brought up speaking by hanging out with other people. Thor didn't suddenly start talking like a hipster just by hanging out in New York. Every fucking writer still has Thor talk like he's from Asgard because, you know, he is. Laura doesn't lose her childhood where the vast majority social interaction she had was for mission briefing just by hanging around some cool, hip teens.

There's a difference between a character developing and a character losing their core character traits. What's happened to X-23 is the latter. It's writers being unable to give the characters they control unique voices and just defaulting to their standards.

Mostly it's been The Logan Legacy and Wolverines.

Logan Legacy was about the most notable people in Wolverines live and past dealing with his death. Laura's part in particular was making peace with the loss of him and being the one person linked to him that isn't kind of shit in some way. She also has a pretty good relationship with Daken now.

Wolverine's is the same group of people (Laura, Mystique, Sabertooth, Lady Deathstrike) dealing with some kind of Weapon X/Mr Sinister related plot. It ended as a lead in to Secret Wars, with a plot where Mystique had successfully stolen the healing factors from all the other characters at the behest of a plan a dead lover had left her, which she thinks would restore him to live.

It turned out the plan was to use their combined healing powers to change a certain point in space-time in a way that could possibly have averted Secret Wars... by bringing Logan back to life. Mystique, out of spite, chooses to let existence end rather than allow Logan to live again.

It's more like she is a dinosaur from Jurrasic part. She is X23, they failed making a perfect clone 22 times. They substituted some of the surraget mother DNA for Logan. I remember it made more sense in X-men Evolution.

This was...surprisingly fun. That's more than I could say about any recent avengers-x-men-like series.
