I think he means physically.
Toedad was thrown from a rolling car, of which he was already hanging halfway out. Becky was also inside said rolling car and somebody without even the sensation of dizziness. Amazi-Girl may or may not have a concussion from defying the laws of physics, Sal is still a black womyn, and somehow Joyce got a broken wrist from punching a man.
Nobody got hurt except for Joyce, and her injury was to add an additional punchline to a punchline.
Where the fuck is the tension if everybody's going to live?
The goddamn climax of "Last Action Hero" has more tension than this comic.

His being hurt is part of Joyce's punchline (no pun intended), and Willis treats him as a villain character anyways so his injuries aren't important at all.
Even if Joyce accidentally broke Toedad's neck punching him, it wouldn't be treated with as much gravitas.

What a load of utter horseshit. Every account we have in Acts and the Epistles of evangelization heavily stresses the resurrection. It was the keystone of Peter's testimony to the Jews after Pentecost for cripes' sake. What's the story behind Funky? What does this have to do with DoA?
>>77395891
>>77395901

It was a comic that Willis and others were critical about for some legit reasons and some that were done on a quick read (the incest punchline in Shortpacked doesn't make sense now if you actually go and read enough Funky).

>>77395901
Funky was a comic from the 70's that was a high school humor strip with more cartoonish stuff. But then it gradually added slightly serious stuff (teen pregnancy and stuff like that). Then in the 90's the characters were all aged up and the strip moved more toward drama (though still being a humor strip) and dealt with themes like alcoholism, cancer, abuse, PTSD, and so on. Then in the mid-00's the characters aged up by a decade and still had its drama.
There's some parallels that Shortpacked/DoA have though Willis says he's conciously trying to not do depressing drama too much as Funky seems to do.

No, it's not. It's 100% true. It ends "But they ran away, and they said nothing, because they were afraid."
>Why would it be excluded from Mark
Any number of reasons. For instance, if you don't actually believe he rose from the dead, there's an obvious reason why the oldest gospel might not contain that. Or, maybe Mark was just suppsed to be about the earthly ministry. Or again, maybe Mark originally had a companion volume like Luke-Acts which covered Jesus' second life? We don't know; what we do know is the longer ending of Mark was tacked on much later.
When did DoA become Funky Winkerbean threads?and why are they such emotional rollercoasters?

But that's the thing, General threads for QC and DOA exist solely for the purpose of us to talk about how bad they are. >All these characters are just...so unlikable.
It's pretty much just Joyce at this point and that's certain to change after this arc. Maybe Walky and one or two others meet the standards of 'tolerable' if not 'likable'.
>the vain hope that there will be a school shooting
I can't even deny that this would be an interesting arc. Willis can even get more progressive brownie points out of it, tackling America's gun culture head on. On the other hand despite having *so fucking many* characters, he's not going to want to give up even a single one, so it'll resolve as peacefully as the toedad saga.

Walky's a walking punchline; Sal's characterization, as explored on here, is fucked because Willis shouldn't be allowed to talk about racism; Sarah isn't bad, but gets a line every three months these days. I don't even know who the other 2+ are supposed to be
> one Asian one who was the main focus of an entire chapter and possibly the most popular character overall

>>77406421
Why would they get together at all. What part of Dina's character says she would want a relationship?
>>77406515
It might be a part of a desire to look more mature.
>>77406515
What little character development Dina has had is basically 'I wish people would treat me like I'm an actual adult'. So her getting pissed off at the (incredibly contrived) naysayers at the party and kissing Becky out of spite? I can see that. Her dating someone would also fall under that, so it's plausible. The problem is that, one, the person she fell in love with is Becky, and two, she's getting way too lovey-dovey for a two-day relationship with someone she barely knows.
>>77406591
It doesn't come off as that though.
It comes off as "Let me throw more girls into a relationship and maybe draw some porn for it."
Willis is a grade-A shitlord because he hides behind this illusion of being a good person when he's really not. His minority characters as >>77406174 pointed out aren't really anything but shallow stereotypes at the end of the day. Even his gays and lesbians.
Becky did a full 180 when she came out of the closet into a full blown stereotype. The thirsty loud and outspoken lesbian! SO PROGRESSIVE!

>>77406653
>Becky did a full 180 when she came out of the closet into a full blown stereotype. The thirsty loud and outspoken lesbian! SO PROGRESSIVE!
That kinda stuff does happen. It's definitely still poorly written because Willis is a hack and I'm not defending the comic, but after hiding her lesbianism for so long it makes sense that when she gets the chance to be open about it with people she goes all out to the point it's her sole character trait and just makes her annoying to be around. Under a better writer she'd probably eventually mellow out, but since it's Willis that will eternally be her entire personality.
>>77406174
I'm guessing Jacob and Lucy, the two late SP! additions he introduced to be Ethan and Amber's replacements. They kind of have the same issue as Sarah, in which they only show up when Willis remembers them.

>Anyone else think their relationship is doomed?
You're actually emotionally invested enough to treat it like an actual relationship?

We had daily depressing-ass Funky threads for a while.
Kind of miss them.

That giant crab is just mad because those dudes refuse to acknowledge it as a person, rather than just a giant crab.

Surely even she would understand that he's mentally snapped. Joyce sure as hell noticed that this wasn't the same guy who used to take them out for fun days at the fair, and it's all gotta be linked to the moms death and evil religion getting in his head in an emotionally weakened state

Me too, they got pretty comfy with so many people coming to the series for the first time and actually getting interested in the lives of the characters. I do appreciate your efforts Funky storytime anon, but really, why the fuck are we hiding Funky inside a DoA thread like this? It's preventing people with the good sense not to frequent DoA threads from reading it.

In fairness, no matter where you stand on gun control, this guy stands a *very* serious chance of just picking up the gun and shooting himself at any time.
Y'know I unironically enjoy Funky, but I just realized I've never really seen it in its original form and have only read it via storytimes like these on /co/. This time I've been reading with that in mind, just imagine picking up a newspaper that runs Funky for the first time and being confronted with something like the fifth strip down in >>77395645. I wonder if that's where people get the idea the strip is really fucking depressing, because they're not seeing everything in context. It's not really any worse than any other TV or comic soap opera.
Also I have the Funky archives that got dumped in the old threads, are there still active links or should I upload them somewhere so those who want to can experience all of the suffering?

I'm also unironically enjoying this. But remember, if you want to do a better job than Willis that means you have todraw some good porn of Sarah.

>That last strip
Admittedly, I've have no idea who any of these characters are, but fuck Wally with a tractor.
wait what happened with the dad?

>Didn't really wanna lead him back to you guys
Why does anyone ever fucking think that will work? He's met them once, he knows they're there.
If she up and disappeared completely on him again, guess where he's going to check first? And guess what, he's also not likely going to believe 'I don't know' either, at least not before a brutal inquisition.
Hell, if he's that fucking broken, he might just kill Dino Dina to put her out of her 'misery' as a bisexual girl with some sort of brain problem that Willis won't specify because he doesn't know jack shit about the conditions he wants to label her with but uses them anyways.
Fuck, it's like that part in Sin City where Hartigan offs himself to 'protect' Nancy.
