I have even more questions about Rose and Pearl's relationship now because off this ep.
I wonder when Pearl began thinking for herself: while on Homeworld, or after coming to Earth? Like did she initially come with Rose as a servant while Rose checked on the Kindergarten, and as Rose began rebelling, Pearl started to rebel as well? Or, was she already trying to do non-Pearl things while they were still at Homeworld?
Did Rose always encourage it gradually came around? Did Rose teach her to fight and get in trouble for doing so, much like someone teaching a slave to read, centuries ago, might have? When did Pearl realize when her affection for her master turned to love? Fuck, I would watch an entire spinoff of just Pearl and Rose.

I would now like to bring up the Fermi paradox
Mathematically/statistically speaking, even when using the most conservative calculations, there should be a lot of life in the universe. Yes, life is extremely rare, but the universe is infinitely huge.
Everything about the nature of life and the universe would point to the universe-not even the whole universe, just our own galaxy even-should be full of life. However, it is not.
There are several theories as to how this paradox can be.
Gems are created by sucking the minerals out of planets. Areas that Gems emerged from are scarred and lifeless, like the Kindergarten. If the whole Earth was converted into Kindergartens, then Earth would no longer be able to sustain life.
So, to answer your question, I am sure that other alien species do (or did) exist, but the Gems may have killed them all off by now.
If any species still lives, they may be in hiding trying to avoid the Gems.
