So what is it that makes this show so popular?

I had a bunch of cartoon series I wanted to watch but hadn't, and Gravity Falls was one of them. I'm four episodes in. It's cute, and the girl and the uncle are the best source of comedy, but so far it seems like pretty standard fare for kid's TV.

I'm probably unusual in that the show didn't hook me in for a long while. It was cute, and Mabel was funny, but I didn't see much point aside from catching it every now and then.

It took a few good episodes to get me interested, like Into the Bunker. And the Bill episodes, which makes me meme fan I know, but some of the humor like ripping out deer teeth or the over-the-top self-harm in Sock Opera just had this weird quality to it that felt sort of unusual and fresh.

And then Not What He Seems was just a really great, well-written, and well storyboarded/put together episode in general.

I don't usually consider myself a Lorefag but I just found a lot of the Lore episodes to be more interesting for whatever reason. Northwest Manor Mystery is the big one that's not "Lore" that's still a favorite.

I wouldn't say the show is anything groundbreaking but decently entertaining.
