ANTS
>>
>>76468688
As happy as I am that we're getting another Ant-Man movie, Marvel seems to be biting off way more than they can chew. AoU and Ant-Man's box office results suggest that the MCU has passed it's peak popularity and has started to suffer from the market being over-saturated, and honestly I'll be surprised if they're still doing well by Infinity War Part 2.
>>
>>76468921
K, but what the fuck could Ant Man and Wasp be doing of importance to stop Thanos? Captain Marvel I can understand but those two?
>>
>>76468884
IW part one might just be Thanos collecting the gems.

Or it takes place before IW Part one.

>And of that, the above the line costs, that paid to the screenwriter, director, producers and principal actors will be a cool four hundred million dollars alone.

I'm really not sure which jews you're talking about. The divide is being brought about almost entirely by newfriends obsessed with the console war mentality. If you watched Down With Love and Bring It On you'd know that Reed actually has a really strong eye for visuals. Even Yes Man was remarkably well-directed for a silly Jim Carrey movie.

Derrickson is a decent visual director, he just needs someone to slap the screenplay out of his hand when he crawls too far up his own ass and gives us shit like Baghuul and The Jungler.

It's a good heist movie and one of the few things in MCU that doesn't burn out by the end. It holds consistently solid throughout.

Biggest downsides were that main villain is basically flanderized Stein from Iron Man and they aren't even trying to hide it. Oh, and Hope van Dyne, she was super lifeless and boring, she was essentially just a material for Scott and Hank to bond over. I hope Cassie will take place of the Wasp, honestly.

I don't know why you'd even say that. I'm serious, what is the point of taking a book or comic or cartoon or video game that people like and making the movie version completely different, sometimes even to the point of being unrecognizeable? It's no longer the thing people liked, so why would you expect them to still enjoy it?

Obviously DC movies don't fall under the "unrecognizeable" category like most video game flicks...but still, do people actually want Superman stories to be about the worship and fear of a reckless deity?

Because, y'know, there's 70 years of pretty popular stories where he's not about that.

Because they seem to think their aren't female lead action movies/shows. When like a third of prime time is female lead. A Be won't work in the current MCU and its need to be a stand alone thing. Carol is pushed without anything backing her and you can tell they only chose her because how similar powerwise she is to DC's well known females like We or Power girl. They can't use Xmen ladies and they are scrapping at the barrel.

Look, I get it, you apparently like the whole meme or trend or whatever you want to call it of of calling Superman a "god".

And you read a story once where people in the comics worshipped him. Good for you. Too bad that was a single, brief arc that had ZERO impact on the greater continuity of the character.

But he's just a dude with powers. Without sunlight, he can get sick, he can age, he can die. He's not really immortal, he didn't create the universe or the human race or anything at all really, he doesn't deserve worship. He doesn't fall under the definition of the word "god".

So Zack Synder basing his movies around that same idea means he's not capturing the spirit of the Superman mythos.

Marvel doesn't really want Wanda to be their front-woman if Fox can still pull a House of M and fuck shit up

The he'll are you talking about. People will make a cult out of any belief. People make cults about fucking comets, and the Superman cult has been a thing for a while in DC. Hell they even had them try to steal Conner's body after he died fighting Superboy Prime and worship it.
Even if all you said is true it won't stop people from seeing him as outworldly. And no one is saying that people are seeing him as a God and the movies certainly aren't. Please go away your /tv/ is showing.

It's mostly because the treatment of female characters in the films has been utter garbage with the exception of Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. By the time Captain Marvel comes out Marvel will have released over 20 films with male leads and not one with a female lead.

There are so many great female characters in the Marvel Universe and Captain Marvel is full of potential and great things could be done with her. Growth and diversity in the MCU are being slowed thanks to Feige and so much potential is being held back because he only cares about lowest common denominator, mass market appeal and plays everything thing safe. There hasn't been a real risk in the MCU yet.

Marvel wanted Buscemi for the role and only went to Douglas when it turned out there'd be a scheduling conflict if they movie wasn't to be delayed again.

I know.

Magic is scientific, especially the way it's handled in most fiction and a world were it wuld exist would by defintion have it open to scientific analysis.

Science is just metagaming reality. If you can repeat an action for a controlled result, that's science and that's what Strange does.

The whole reason he is so good ia because he can apply his Med training to magical practices.

The idea of Magic and technology being some arbitrary bubbles is nonsense, for gods sake Machine and Magic are derivatives of the same word.
>>
>>76476037
it is because it made less money than the first avenger and worse, people like it a lot less and that is the big damage, a damage to the brand, that is why it is considered a disappointment, while Ant-Man, it made money and made a brand, people like Ant-Man now and will like more when cap 3 comes out, so Ant-Man was a big win, while Avengers 2 is a thing where they have to make repairs to the brand.

It's my opinion but I completely stand by it. Part of the problem is that Age of Ultron is the first Marvel movie that actually requires viewers to think. Thematically the movie is pretty brilliantly layered and an incredibly dense film. It's more intelligently written than any other in the MCU but has a nice shiny fun surface so that it can still appeal to all ages, unfortunately people don't look underneath since no one expects a Marvel movie to actually have meaning behind it.

>Black Panther delayed ONCE AGAIN
>so that they can make "HAHA LAUGH AT THE HILARIOUS WHITE MAN" movie AGAIN
>>
>>76477258
>here, all the bad stuff is a direct result of the avengers
That's a huge point of the movie and what sets things up for Civil War. They begin the movie as the biggest heroes in the world, literally celebrating their own accomplishments and patting each other on the back. Throughout the film they are broken down and torn apart, literally having the darkest parts of who they are and what they've been through revealed to them. Ultron was trying to show them and the world that they're not heroes, he's challenging them and calling them monsters and tyrants.

By the end of the second act they're all struggling with the fact that Ultron may be right, and have all been told or called themselves monsters by that point. The time one the farm is The Avengers talking a reprieve to figure out for themselves if they are or aren't the monsters that they now believe themselves to be and to see what it is they're fighting for. The fight against Ultron in the climax is their attempt to prove him wrong and Cap pretty much exactly states this. While they ultimately succeed Ultron has still left his mark and we'll see that in Civil War. It's an utter deconstruction of the The Avengers.

>You're laying it on pretty thick man.
I don't think that I am but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just thought there was a lot going on thematically in the film that people tend to ignore.

Avengers 2 made LESS than Avengers

Do you understand what that means?
Less people are watching the BIGGEST movie event in Marvel

If Marvel can't get people to watch their star movies, how the hell do you expect them to convince casuals to watch a 3rd Captain America movie?

The Captain America movies are not very popular, even Thor movies get more people watching them.

Casuals want more Iron Man, more Black Widow, more Thor.

How can you get to watch a movie that stars a non-popular avenger, and require MULTIPLE movies to watch?

To understand Civil War you need : Captain America 1,2 Iron 1,2,3, Thor 1,2 Hulk, Avengers, Antman, Avengers 2

AND they need to know about characters like Black Panther

Good Luck.

The first Avengers was a cultural phenomenon and one of the highest grossing films ever made, it also had little competition. Comparatively Avengers 2 had a lot of competition when it came out with terrible marketing.
>>
>>76468688
fucking rights, this is the second best Marvel movie yet and it was a HUGE boon to their franchise that showed that even with terrible production events it could still work. This proves Marvel is playing the long game, it beat out Hulk, Cap 1 and will probably beat Thor 1. But it also had a smaller budget then all marvel movies, yet it worked. Ant Man is a huge success, even though it hasn't been financially, it has been franchise wise.

And Wasp deserves to be in Avengers, she is the most important female Avenger there is. I don't care if her name is Hope or Jan, she HAS to be there as the core. Ant Man set her up as the most competent female super in the MCU. I'd be totally fine with a WASP lead Avengers.

BTW Feige already said Wasp has the most important role of phase 3. Here is what happens.

>To understand Civil War you need : Captain America 1,2 Iron 1,2,3, Thor 1,2 Hulk, Avengers, Antman, Avengers 2

Most of the people who will see this movie have already seen all of those films, or are willing to see them.

Also, I doubt that even half those films will be directly relevant. Do you really think the plot of Civil War is going to hinge on Ho Yinsen or The Red Skull? At best it will require TWS and Age of Hultron to understand.

Cap will be searching for Bucky because he wants to help him, Tony however will either want him dead or in jail (Winter Soldier slyly implies Bucky may have assassinated Howard Stark). The two will be at odds not over that, but also of the newly pushed Sokovia Accords, which has divided the hero community.

Meanwhile Zemo will likely be playing a hand in events or using them to his advantage. The crux of the story is going to be Tony, Bucky, Cap, and possibly Zemo. Everyone else for the most part is going to be there just to illustrate the divide created by the Sokovia Accords.

All of this being orchestrated by Zemo who instigates the events behind the scenes and is the main villain. Focus being on Bucky, Steve, and Sam, along with the rest of their team. Tony and his team are basically going to be for the big fight scenes, and no doubt plenty of Steve and Tony arguing scenes.

>pushing inhumans
>not actually using any inhumans from the comics except daisy

either have the fucking inhumans in AOS or wait for the movie, but these non-characters are annoying as fuck. like that electric pretty boy, who is that? wh the fuck cares?
>>
>>76478283
Big events kind of work in the comics, because fans know a lot of heroes, and they have a long form story to tell them with. Movies last for about 2 hours, so them having more characters to use wouldn't necessarily be good or needed. The teams in this are 5-6 people, and some people are already saying it feels overcrowded.
>>
>>76480268
There really isn't one. His role was initially just a cameo that might have been slightly expanded upon. It's not really an adaptation of the comic, just re-purposing the name and some ideas.
>>
>>76480328
god you people are insufferable. Who cares about these characters? No one, until they make a fucking story about them. You act as if only silver age character are to be cared about, a lot of them have been forgotten and for good reason.
>>
>>76480268
Cameo on Tony's side to get people hype, and plenty of action scenes. We already know that the actual actor only has one scene, with all the rest being a stunt double in full costume and some vo quipping.

It's the fight scene team, and we get to see Spider-man fight. He's just another member of Tony's team. Hell, T'Challa will likely have more scenes than Spider-man despite Spidey's movie causing his to get bumped back a year.

Of course, the Feige could always go "needs more Spider-man" and change shit, but it all seems pretty minor from what we've heard.
>>
>>76480268
Literally only for hype. Also, Tony stuff
>>
>>76477255
Bucky or Falcon will become Cap, they'll both still be around probably. Guardians will be there too, they'll need a third movie.
>>
>>76480427
>yfw MCU Spidey gets the "with great power comes great responsibility" line from Tony
>>
>>76480405
fair enough. so you'r actually saying these made-for-tv inhumans have a shred of depth, personality or anything interesting about them? which ones? can you even remember their names?
>>
>>76480171
Yes, but at the time it was a big fuck you to the CCA and a genuinely bold move that reinvigorated the industry back then.

Ultimate Spider-man and Ultimates were a huge deal. Even Ultimate X-men and UF4 were doing great stuff, with only Ultimate X-men being a rela product of its time and kinda shitty looking back.

Millar and Bendis were in many ways the shapers of the 00s for Marvel in the same way you could look at Rob Liefeld and Jim Lee.
>>
>>76480505
not gonna lie though, seeing even one scene of spidey fighting other marvel heroes is giving me a giant boner, so hype achieved. maybe i'm just drinking the kool aid, but damn it tastes good
>>
>>76480598
Well there's Daisy and Lash, who are from the comics. Then you've got Lincoln, Raina, Gordon, Chinese Mom, and Gay Melter.
>>
>>76480598
I have never read anything with Hyde before but he was fantastic, so was his wife. Which in turn added more to Daisy than I read in comics, which admittedly isn't much cause she didn't seem cool.

Also, I get compassion more for this nightcrawler than I have for the Fox movies.
>>
>>76480680
I think a fight between Captain American and Spiderman has been heavily rumored
>>
>>76480629
It was also an attempt to hire better quality artists and authors. It's a shame that Marvel went back to square one, they spend pennies on art and have been loosing authors all over the place.
>>
>>76479089
>ant-man fans had to wait decades for a proper ongoing and the movie
>carol fans had ms. marvel and captain marvel push in 2009
>their movie gets delayed by ant-man 2

I don't have a smug enough pepe for this one
>>
>>76471487
I mean that happened in 2012 too.
>>
>>76480726
hyde is a daredevil/street level marvel villain who was a scientist that made a super-strength formula which turned him into a loon. he has nothing to do with inhumans. in his "hyde form" he's also very eloquent and intelligent which serves as a juxtaposition to his violent and insane nature. tv hyde just became a shittier hulk, losing his intelligence and going berserk.

the wife was bland as fuck for me, and her "secret" evilness was obvious from the start. also note you don't even remember her name(neither do i, but you're the one defending the character)
>>
>>76471404
Secret Invasion, Skrull/Kree War, Dark Reign.

& if they get FF back by then they'll have Annihilus, Galactus & Doom.

They could also always go back to Thanos in like Phase 5 or 6, he's more than just one story.
>>
>>76471404
If only they had Doom.
>>
Why is Zemo even in the movie?
>>
>>76480898
I can't ever remember those type of chinese names. Jiayjaig? I can't pronounce a fucking Welsh city name, nor most names in Canada. Hence why I don't remember. It's just the fact of her having a complex name I don't know it, I know Lincoln, but care more about Jiay something and not-nightcrawler than him.
>>
>>76480996
Disney wanted something the kids to boo at

>Buscemi is ugly as fuck, man.
He has the cadence of someone who'd become obsessive and paranoid but enough honesty to sell actually giving a shit about stuff.
>>
>>76471404

Honestly I wouldn't mind if they dropped the continuous narrative. They don't need to have a big bad, necessarily. Maybe just have a mid-phase where they focus on telling stories instead of setting up Secret Invasion or what have you.
>>
>>76480598
>so you'r actually saying these made-for-tv inhumans have a shred of depth, personality or anything interesting about them?
Yes.

>which ones? can you even remember their names?
Raina, Gordon, Lincoln, and Jaiying. Now we've got Joey, who I think is a nice addition to the show (He was great in Narcos

>>76480726
Cal/Hyde is GOAT.

>>76480898
>>76481076
I loved Jaiying. I thought she was great and while we could see the evil twist coming I thought she was a good character.
>>
>>76480898
>in his "hyde form" he's also very eloquent and intelligent
God I really hate that people completely misunderstand Jekyll and Hyde. That's a very good portrayal of it. Hyde isn't his "opposite" or anything like that, it's his repressed side. The part of his humanity he considers monstrous. And that's why he loses control over the story; Jekyll began denying that side of himself, due to its monstrosity. And what does it mean to be a monster other than denying your humanity?

But no, hulking babbling rage monster, that works too, just as deep and interesting.
>>
>>76474911
Fuck you nigga, the new Ant-Man ongoing is based & Hank is better as Yellow Jacket/Wasp than he ever was as Ant-Man.
>>
>>76481258
Jiaying was shitty Chinese Magneto, admit it. Cal was great, too bad David Lynch grabbed McLachlan for that Twin Peaks revival.
>>
>>76471404
celestials.

i'd also like an eternals movie, a bit like what gaiman did for them, but that's a long shot
>>
>>76481410
Jaiying was a sexy as hell Chinese Magneto.
>>
>>76476923
>Cage, Jones & Iron Fist
>getting multiple seasons
>not becoming Heroes for Hire after Defenders
>>
>>76481446
Gaiman's take on Eternals was incredible. Marvel would be smart to do something along those lines.
>>
>>76481453
that actress is just Suren in my mind. psycho vamp princess
>>
>>76481613
She is and will always be Sierra to me.
>>
>>76481518
it was pretty complicated for a popcorn movie though
>>
>>76481691
It's easy enough to grasp that it would work, besides Marvel is at a point where they can take risks because their movies are guaranteed money makers.
>>
>>76481674
i should really watch dollhouse one of these days, it's just that the premise doesn't appeal to me at all.

also all these recent idiotic hercules movies could be blown out of the water with marvel herc. so much asgardian stuff, no love for olympians
>>
that envious feel when in 30 years there will be kids just growing up that will have so many mcu movies already waiting for them while i have to waste all my years getting them one by one...
>>
>>76482038
>it's just that the premise doesn't appeal to me at all.
What about it doesn't appeal to you? I think the first couple episodes sort of drag (the show was intended to be very different than it is, darker, grittier, dealing with some seriously fucked up stuff, but Fox wanted something sexier and with more action, but less sex) until they can get things together again, but they do some great world building until episode 6 kicks into gear.

>so much asgardian stuff, no love for olympians
So true. There's so much potential in it but Hollywood just seems to ignore it or treat it like garbage. Hopefully the upcoming Wonder Woman film will be heavily ingrained in the mythology.
>>
>>76468688
If we don't have Wasp growing into a giantess in at least one movie, it'll all be a waste of billions of dollars.
>>
>>76482252
just the whole "erasing an operatives memories" after missions is kind of stupid and played out to me. seems like that show My Own Worst Enemy, where christian slater plays edward, a deadly operative whose mind is erased when not on missions to become henry, mild mannered family man(note the "clever" references)
>>
>>76482252
>ignore it

after Immortals, two Clash of the Titans movies with worthington, a rock Hercules movie and an even worse Hecules movie, i kinda wish they would
>>
>>76482463
I can understand where you're coming from but Dollhouse ultimately has an interesting take on the idea which evolves past that, and becomes more about the nature of humanity and identity. It's a lot like Dark City in a way. I think it's definitely worth watching and it's in my top 10 favorite shows.
>>
>>76482405
what is it with /co/ and giantess fetishism? i don't really mind it, it's just such a weird fetish...
>>
>>76482768
eh fine already! i'll watch it when i'm done with Sirens, which is a british show so that should be over with in a day.
>>
>>76482775
Guys love girls. The bigger they are, the more there is to love. Like domination? Look no further than a chick that can dominate a city, or even a planet. Prefer nicer, gentler types? A giant woman can handle you like a child, a pet, or an insect.

But this is all off topic. Never ask to understand a fetish, if you don't have it, it won't make sense.
>>
>>76482888
I just got hard thinking about it
>>
>>76468688
Hmmm...by the time these movies come out in China, haven't they been pirated to hell and back? I mean...it's China. Is there any chance that 90% of the people who wanted to see it haven't seen it already?
>>
I'm not excited for any of this except Black Panther and his unfortunate name. I'm actually more excited for netflix shows, go figure.
>>
>>76482963
>this nigga doesn't know about chinese democracy
>>
>>76469403
Ant-Man 2 is gonna suck. Total bomb. Guaranteed. I've already seen it, so I know. Really, my father's brother's third cousin's wife's nephew's best friend's guinea pig's step mother's third cousin's ex-boyfriend's tapeworm works for Marvel.
>>
sho 'nuff.
>>
>>76482857
I started the U.S. version of Sirens and didn't learn about the British version until recently, is it worth watching?

>>76483039
Well it was banned in China.
>>
>>76483079
it just doesn't seem necessary. it's not a "film series" character. instead of that sequel they could make a new movie with a different character. it was a nice little movie but nothing about it made me go "holy shit i want a sequel to this".
