Not really a writer, but I'm thinking about writing an AU where Jaune decides to go and leaves Beacon after Pyrrha nearly dies due to his incompetence and is hospitalized. He just travels around in the lands and questions his dreams of becoming a hero and the decisions he has made so far. Especially when he realizes that everything he has done so far he has only done to emulate his dead father

I want it to be kind of depressing, having a muted mood throughout and be more of a character driven story of this AU Jaune than anything else, that however ends mostly positively. What do you think /co/, should I write it?

I don't know, it'd be either pretty short or really long.

I guess it'd be if I go deeper into details. I thought it would be interesting if Jaune had a bit of a bad relationship with his (now dead) father due to his overcommitment to his job as a hunter. At first, when Jaune was a little kid, it wasn't like that and Jaune idolized him heavily, which was only helped by his mom reading him bedtime stories about the great heroes of past and her assuring that his father was just as much of a hero. Which is where his dream came from first, combined with his family's legacy. That would change as he got older and had shown no natural talent for battle what so ever and his father ignores him (and his sisters that aren't interested in the business of fighting grimm and saving people and shit) in favour of his sisters that do. Which he doesn't do on purpose and pretty much has to do because he's at home very little and for very short periods, which makes Jaunes growing disdain only stronger and stronger. After this, Jaune decides that heroes are stupid and that he never ever wants to be a hero. When his mother gets so sick that the fear of her death is very real and his father still doesn't return for another two weeks, he starts shouting at his father before exclaiming that he hates him and running away and hiding in the woods around his home. Now, he doesn't really hate him, he's just dissapointed and has growing frustrations as well as an understandable dislike. When he returns hours later he finds out that his father already left on his next mission again. A couple of days later a teammate of his father visits their home in order to tell them that the Arc died in combat defending his teammate with his life, after which he hands them his weapon and family heirloom Crocea Mors. So, do you think that is good or...?

But, again, whether or not Nora's waiting for him to do so, it isn't Ren's responsibility to be the one to preemptively shut down a relationship. Not even close. It's irresponsible and immature to place one persons emotions as the responsibility of somebody else.

Nothing in the show says that this is actually the case, though.

We don't know if Ren is aware of her affections as anything other than Nora being Nora. We don't even know that they've never actually talked about it before and come to an understanding. It's unreasonable to look at the situation and put solving it one way or another on Ren, especially when he's a young adult, and unlike her he obviously has trouble expressing himself in general, let alone for such a heavy topic.

Well Shane did Pyrrha vs CRDL (if I'm remembering right), some of the fight scenes in recent seasons of RVB and that mega man animation is really good too, not really RWBY style but still great. Honestly, as bad as it sounds, I think Monty's death will positively affect RWBY because it won't just be a story to fill in the gaps between fight scenes, it'll be fight scenes where they're required for the story to progress.
