SPOILER BELOW
I'll keep it vague anyways. I thought antler man may have been Jack too, but then I thought that the three figures could be horsemen of the apocalypse. They still could be, considering who they actually are. But then, would Jack be the fourth horsemen? Or maybe, is he considered to be what the other three are as well? Is he a reincarnation of pic related?
I wish spoilers worked on this board, that probably sounds like gibberish.
>sage because theory and not-anime picture

this pic is lovely but i do not get why the artist felt they had to draw it digitally, take a picture of it, THEN post it. tf m8 it's already digitial

They're probably just shinigami, in the traditional sense.
>Shinigami are gods or supernatural spirits that invite humans toward death,
>In Buddhism, ... It is a demon that makes humans want to die, and it is said that upon being possessed by it, in a shock, one should suddenly want to commit suicide.
>In the classical literature of the Edo period, shinigami that would possess humans are mentioned... [they] would cause people to want to die.
> the essay "Shōzan Chomon Kishū" ... 'upon possession by a shinigami, it becomes difficult to speak, or easier to tell lies' was a story where a prostitute possessed by a shinigami invites a man to commit double suicide.
> in the kabuki Mekuranagaya Umega Kagatobi ... a shinigami enters into people's thoughts, making them think about bad things they have done and want to die.
So basically they were a spiritual way of explaining depression/suicide in a time where people didn't have any scientific means of doing so yet. It seems to me that the presence of shinigami in Samurai Jack is just a way of giving Jack's depression/guilt a physical manifestation, as well as a way to up tension and give us a cool fight scene. It provided a way to visually depict Jack conquering his depression, literally.

It's a very strange thing I noticed that some artists do. My personal theory is that it's some sort of aesthetic?
>>3104107
only other thing i can think of is if somehow their art pc isn't hooked up to internet, so they have to upload with their phone. but even then why not just upload the file to your phone with a cable?
first jack art in weeks, feels bad man.

SPOILERS
But the three were known gods of war from different mythologies: Odin (Norse), Ra (Egyptian), and Kartikeya (Hindu). Which makes me think that Jack may be a reincarnation of Hachiman, the Japanese god/patron of war, if they are watching over him. The fact that Hachiman was not present at the time may be proof of this; it is odd, considering samurai prayed heavily to Hachiman and took him as their patron. Why would Jack's god (assuming) not be present at his seppuku ritual?

But your theory could be right as well, and no matter what, you're right about the visualization of the depression made into a sick-ass fight scene. I've loved this series since I was very small, and it seems its revival has only made it better. The morality (defeating anger and depression) adds a lot, and it is wholesome, while also being fun to watch.

I thought you were talking about the graveyard scene, not the space scene???
>>3104232
Since Antler Man is Odin, are the scenes not connected? I may just be mixing them up in my head, though.
>>3104334
no they're not, i think you just mixed them up.

Damn that's pretty awesome, and both styles of Jack look really good. Usually an artist can pull off the style of one Jack while making the other one look meh, so that's impressive.

Bless all of you anons posting in this thread. I'm going to miss all of this fresh Samurai Jack content, hype, and theories. I've been on 4chan every day looking at SJ content here, /co/, and wherever else the SJ threads pop up since the beginning of season 5. This revival of Jack has been one hell of a ride, and I'm legit going to be sad after it ends on Saturday.
Don't know anything about any of you other beautiful bastards here, but thanks for all the company (and wonderful images) so far.
