Really fun weeby social simulator and great dungeons, battle systems and characters. There are quite a few waifus so that's to be expected but all the characters are good so don't let the waifu factor ruin it for you.

For me, Persona 4 quickly became my favorite game ever and I think Persona 5 is quickly overtaking the spot. It's not just about wish fulfillment. I love both the Rpg and life simulator aspects of the games. I also love things like Pokemon and the summons in Final Fantasy so the actual Persona part of the game was terrific for me. It's a great series for anyone interested in RPGs. If you don't like them then you'll feel more meh.

I wish there was a good place to talk about fujo stuff. There's tumblr and /vg/. But the former is full of kids or people on the mental age of one and the latter is full of waifufaggotry even if they talk about gay stuff occasionally. It's also full of people who hate Goro. What do you think makes Goro a shit character anon?

I guess I'll go first with some discussion. How do you feel about the shipping potential with the guys of Persona 5?

For me, Goro is the obvious choice for Joker. I guess Goro has been discussed to death and by people more eloquent than me on the subject. I've enjoyed reading Yu/Adachi to some extent.

I see Ryuji as being a combo of Yosuke and Kanji in a lot of ways. (I feel like he has a lot of Yosuke's personality with some of Kanji's expressions and more tough/punk attitudes. Or maybe I just feel his and Yosuke's voice are similar) But I don't feel he is as close to the MC as Yosuke and Kanji are. I think Ryuji is more similar to Junpei in how he feels about Joker.

I like Yusuke but I'm not feeling the ship at all. I'm surprised ShuKita is as popular as it is. I also don't see Yusuke as being totally gay as some people think he is.

Strangely enough, I suppose Morgana has some shipping potential. For all his insistence that he's human, he spends a lot of time in close body contact with Joker. (Someone else said this but I'm not sure who) Also what was weird was the scene where Joker starts working at the Shibuya bar, and Morgana would have liked to see Joker "all dolled up".

I know P2 will never happen again, but I think the way they handled it in P4 was fine. You can friendzone all of the girls and still max the social link, you can flirt with the guys on multiple occasions, you can even crossdress lol

What if you're a personafag who got really hooked by 3? I only watched 4 in anime form, it was alright. I'm only a little bit into 5 at this point, it seems to have different pros and cons compared to 4. Visually it's definitely a treat, but 3 hit home best thematically even if it can be very anime at times. Hm? Are we talking about the same thing? I do think Yusuke wanted to paint Ann for non-sexual reasons. But in the Pyramid's palace, during the anime cutscene, he does look at Ann along with Ryuji and Joker, albeit very furtively. That does indicate to me he has some sexual interest in women.

I didn't think Chie and Yukiko's friendship was that notable, because we never saw them alone. Mitsuru and Yukari were much better in that regard.

Goro's issue is that you don't get many moments with him alone and natural S.Link interactions, and due to his personality being mostly a facade, the homo ended up feeling manufactured.

He seemed like an immature teenage guy who had insecurities about sexuality and intimacy with other guys. I don't think his attitude was portrayed in the right at all. No one else gives shit to Kanji, and I don't remember an option for you (Yu) to give shit to Kanji either. It's just Yosuke.

On the other hand, Ryoji was Junpei's friend who constantly hit on girls. You never felt that close to him as MC. I don't see how one line in the FeMC's route makes him a great gay option. I think that has more to do with Japan's general view on being gay that it does some personal vendetta. It's not unusual for teens to freak out when they start realizing they might be gay. And besides that, Yosuke is your big reaction character. He doesn't just smile. He beams as wide as he can and laughs and jumps up and down. All of his responses are over the top, including his possible questioning and denial about sexuality.

I don't really see the malice in P4. The only character with a problem is Yosuke, and as mentioned before, he's not supposed to be taken seriously. Everybody else is chill.

Before Persona 3, there wasn't such a thing as Social Links, so you didn't get to date anyone at all. In Innocent Sin, there's a scene where you can choose to confess your feelings to Jun, but it doesn't affect the game, except on a specific line during Demon Negotiation, where they'll be asked if they are lovers.
This is actually in the English PSP remake, it wasn't removed (though Hitler is only called "Fuhrer" and he's wearing sunglasses all the time).

Nothing Yosuke says is taken seriously, he's basically the comic relief. What's the first thing you see him do? Fall head first into a trashcan.
The whole game is about insecurity and what others think of you. Yosuke keeps nagging at Kanji for not being stereotypically straight, but he also teases Chie for not being stereotypically girly. It's how HE views them, but not how others do.
