Thanks for the clarification! Okay so for now what I'm understanding from what you two posted is that because the general communities of my two OTPs is absolute shit, trashy, and utter tumblr fangirl/fanboy chaos (which I HAVE lurked around to see) that I'm the same way.
Honestly, I don't really much care for the trashy communities in both my OTPs, I generally steer clear of those extremist fans and acting like them. Rather, I prefer to look for *quality* fanart and fanfiction of my OTPs, which ARE supported and encouraged by the originators themselves, and try to refrain from sounding like those crazy "cringey tumblr fangirls".
If I did manage to somehow sound like those "pretentious cringey tumblr fangirls" please let me know along with examples so that I can avoid sounding like that in the future. Thanks, and I'm sorry if this post also sounds as cringey as the last one (somehow I've noticed a correlation that the longer the post is, the cringier it becomes. I'm a fujoshi, and I'd honestly rather see actual gay characters over shallow shounen fujobaiting, but people have been shipping non-canon pairings for a huge stretch of history. There are plenty of legendary non-canon ships, both BL/slash and otherwise. It just comes down to what chemistry a fan perceives.

I thought it was more because a bunch of yaoi is basically shojo manga but with guys, so they want to have suspense and tension about if the main guys will really end up together or not. Which is close enough, actually. I can't believe that, that's got to be bullshit. At least based on how the fujos I know on twitter act. How they latch onto any snippet, any hint validating their ship. Maybe they're a lot like me? I don't really care for romance in my shows, I prefer subtle hints over a couple being dusgustingly lovey-dovey. Well, maybe with an exception for some vague defining scene. But if I got that okay from the staff, a confirmation in an interview or something, that'd make my year. But even that rarely ever happens.

I used to hang around on /cm/ and /y/ constantly when I WAS a true weaboo fangirl 5-7 years ago, and because of my friends' recommendations. But then eventually somehow I stopped hanging around here for a couple years (probably because I forgot about it) until 6 months ago when my anime club mentioned 4chan, and I thought it would be nice to check up on the communities circulating on 4chan and maybe even experience some nostalgia for it. They do, but they rarely ever get anything of any quality. Dokyusei sold like hotcakes and the little gay boy from IBO ranks very high in popularity polls despite being a background character. Gay itself is not the issue, it's the fact tha BL is seen as niche and anime studios don't want to risk their money. Thus most of what's released are low budget, low quality turds. Fujos can see this so they tend to flock around higher quality shows which offer something more. I think they're so used to not getting anything they don't expect to get anything, they just adapt. Sports series in particular, no fujo expects a series catering to teenage boys will go canon homo. Fujoshi are not otaku, they're not violent or loud enough to get what they want. I always see them expressing great gratitude for any nod from the officials they can get.

As for the whole excitement thing, I can sort of see where they're coming from. It's the same as western TV teasing couple for seasons upon seasons, and once they finally hook up some people see it as the show jumping the shark. I guess the "will they or won't they" is just easier to write and keep people guessing, being interested. It's the whole "married bliss vs exciting new romance" dilemma all over again. Personally I've shipped married couples before and I love coming back to the scenes of my shipps hooking up so I don't see the issue.
I liked how it was dealt with in T&B, although I still wished for more. The guys have been acting like a blissfully married couple (and I mean it) for a long time now but they never showed them hook up, thus leaving fujos with enough free space to come up with their own scenarios and winning their prolonged interest. Though I believe most of those fujos also wish for more.

Teenage fujos are usually poor as fuck, so they can't be defining the market when they can't afford to fund it. The sub-group which reads BL manga exclusively is defining what you see in that area. Their tastes are pretty bad, like Junjou Romantica tier, but they're the ones shaping the BL manga market and in turn what gets adapted into (shitty, low selling) anime. This is definitely not the same subset which buys the expensive BDs. Those people are in their twenties and are past the ~forbidden love~ phase. As someone who knows Japanese and follows various Japanese fujos on twitter, not really. At least not nowadays. In many aspects they're more open minded than Western BL fans, and it doesn't help that these days Western fandom is all about calling everything they don't like "problematic", calling everything "sin" and "trash", harassing people for not agreeing with them while hiding behind fake morals, and whatever the fuck else.

Also lots of modern BL works are really good, they just never get popular with English speakers.

Some of it is pretty old - the guidebooks covered the whole FE - Bison - Agnes "triangle" and the verdict was that all parties were too self-centered (or insecure in Bison's case) to ever make any of it work. The canon PSP game also provided all the main characters' perspective and showed that FE and Bison are friends out of necessity - Fire Emblem likes to have someone uncomplicated around to vent and Antonio can't really confide into anyone else.
