Take a part time job at a fast food joint as a burger flipper for a couple months and see how much you still like it. The time pressure and working with shitty other people isn't for everyone.

Nope. If anything, culinary school is a liability. It may be worth it for something really specialized like being a pastry chef, but in general chefs would rather have a guy that shows up on time, every time, ready to bust ass and do things exactly the way that chef wants them done.

Show up, wash dishes, help prep, eventually move up to the line. Why pay to learn when you can get payed to learn? Above all else, embrace the suck. Brown liquor, hard drugs, and banging the hostesses will help.

Well, I'm no chef, but from what I've heard in threads like these it's best not to saddle yourself with culinary school debt. In that industry, experience trumps education and connections trump experience. Get a job as a dishwasher at a nice restaurant you admire and bust your ass. Make it clear you want to work as a cook and they'll have you promoted to prepping vegetables in no time. From there, just hone your skills and make friends.
