>ingredients are measured in cups
You aren't a professional, using volumetric measurements for solids won't throw out your prettyl little cake you faggot.
>>9420146
Er no sweatie
Everybody knows measuring in weight is much more accurate since ingredients can different in density
>>9420151
I'm telling you Jeremy, with the two dozen fairy cakes you'll be making for the middle aged fag hags at the office on cake day the miniscule difference in density of ingredients from one batch to the next will not matter.

Suck a dick, you boy-hungry faggot.
>>9420124
>do ameritards really?
>>9420151
No?
Recipes are obviously adjusted in its measures when measured per volume or mass respectively.
Say what you want about the awkward amounts of american measurements but the americans aren't retarded.
>>9420175
Well why are you complaining about volumetric measurements when you likely have access to any recipe you want by weight?
>>9420124
>recipe says things like x tbsp.
>faithfully measure x tbsp.
>food turns out meh
>see someone make recipe in video
>evertime they say 1 tbsp, they throw in almost 1/3 of a cup.
First they use shit measuring systems for everything (they're doing it on purpose, just to be assholes, I swear) and then it turns out these measurements don't even mean what they say they are.
>>9420175
I bake bread and use CUPS!
>>9420267
When you bake in Machu Picchu shit changes. Otherwise, you're a shitty baker.
>>9420124
>measuring onions in cups
my problem isn't even that I dislike volumetric measurements
It's just that I have many types of cups in my house and no idea what an american considers a standard cup. A capucchino cup? a tea cup? one of those giant Coffee mugs?
I could just any cup and remain consistent because the ingredients are always going to be in the same ratio, but then I would probably end up with a cake that the recepie claimed 'serves 12' but ends up serving 6 because I used 'small' cups.
It's pretty retarded.
>>9420334
they sell sets of them on amazon. Best to get the sturdy flat bottomed ones so they don't keel over when you put your chopped peppers into them.
>>9420334
Be a good little cuck bitch and buy an American measuring cup

We've got refugees to feed you know.
>>9420124
What are you making?
Baking... should technically be done by weight, but certain things (greasy ass cheese and shallot bread for instance) have some leeway.
If you're getting bent out of shape over every ingredient Jim Bob's Mulligatawny being measured in liquid-specific Imperial units, just take your meds and take solace in the fact that they are generally doled out by the milligram.

It's almost like the recipe tells you what ingredients to use

millenials
>>9420124
If following an American recipe then buy a set of cups, it's not rocket surgery is it. However, it annoys the shit out of me when it says a stick of butter, we have blocks of butter here so I have to Google the weight of a stick every fucking time.

This looks pretty good, recipe? (volumetric or by weight, either way is fine by me)
>read american recipe
>have to convert cups and tablespoons into milliliters
>have to then look up the density of each ingredient to convert from milliliters into grams
>have to then calculate ratios for each ingredient
Why do Americans do this? How is "1 stick of butter plus 2 tablespoons per 1 cup of flour" a simpler recipe than "1 part butter to 1 part flour"?
>>9424522
>have to then look up the density of each ingredient to convert from milliliters into grams
>have to then calculate ratios for each ingredient
Why do autists do this?
>american recipe
>corn syrup replaces ingredient you expected to be in it
>recipe tells you to use reduced/low fat milk
>>9420124
For baking its perfect, when you're using liquids and powder like flour. It is one of the things I'll admit Americans do better. As long as you use the same cup for every ingredient, everything remains proportional to the recipe and you don't have to measure anything.
>>9424817
>everything remains proportional
if the density of your flour varied to the same degree as the density of your sugar, but it does not. So nothing remains proportional to the recipe.
Try again?
>american recipe
>tells you to use something prefab complete with brand name
>IE "crumbed oreo"
>can of crisco
They don't do this anywhere else afaik
>>9422161
desu I think a stick of butter is 4 ounces, only because they usually sell them by the pound, which is 4 sticks
Powdered ingredients with volume doesnt matter to me, its qhen it does volume of say, leafy vegetables or somethinf with size variqnce
>>9425379
I mean, just use quality recipes, most chefs wont do this
