I agree that "eggplant" is a stupidass name and we should have kept the original. We call that type of squash "zucchini" I assume because the italians popularized it in the US instead of the french. Frankly, "courgette" sounds a little too limp wristed for most of us, whereas "zucchini" has a more masculine ring to it so we'll stick with that.
