Is this even known outside of Germany?
It's a sweet fizzy drink made with mate leaves. Has lots of caffeine in it and tastes amazing imo. Haven't encountered it at all outside of Germany though

Yes, I got a bottle of this as gift from some Germans friends I met at DefCon.
Bretty gud, 9/10
I've seen it in Stockholm and Helsinki, in most well-sorted grocery stores.
It's nice.
The straight edge kids in France drink it. I've also seen it at a vegetarian restaurant chain in Montreal.

Definitely haven't seen it in Burgistan, though we might have it in some specialty shops like World Market.

Yeah it's pretty popular with the hipster crowd over here aswell but don't let that deter you if you can get your hands on some.

I prefer regular old Mate myself

The Club Mate cola is amazing too. Shame I can't find it in the US.

Had it in berlin, fucking disgusting, tastes like pastry.
you see it more and more in the Netherlands, being drunk by German exchange students and hipsters alike

Oh and it's an acquired taste, the first time I tried it I didn't like it and stuck to the pomegranate variety.
I like it now though.
You can buy it in any small hipster restaurant in Poland, shit's pretty good

Yes, I know of the stuff; it is to yerba mate what iced tea is to tea, I gather.
Very well known in the hacking scene, because of its prevalence in the German club scene, and (of course) the famous Chaos Computer Club and their yearly convention.
I want to try it, as it sounds like the kind of thing I might like (or might hate, but eh), but haven't seen it for sale anywhere in the UK as yet.
