So I had this at a popular place here and it tasted too much of cinnamon and was kind of acrid. I got it at a local taco place that makes their own and this was smoother and much better and I wish they sold it by the quart. The label said it had Morro (seed? nut?) in it so the flavor was more complex.
Have you tried activating your almonds

I'd like a good horchata recipe too. Every time I've made it, it turned out too chalky and cinnamon-y.

Have you tried blanching and peeling your almonds first?

Take a bottle of milk. And then Drink it like a normal person.
I made chef Johns recent recipe but my blender was fucked so I had to use my magic bullet. It didn't grind the cinnamon or rice very well so I don't think I got the most flavor out of it.
Still pretty good though, lots of sugar I guess

I used rice, haven't used almonds in a horchata yet
