Am I right to assume Jack Daniels is to Whisky what Starbucks is to coffee? Normie's think it is of high quality but compared to actual high quality drinks it's shit
>>9342552
Have you ever had a black coffee at Starbucks?
>>9342552
Yes and yes. Anyone who is over the age of 12 and had decent coffee fresh roasted and ground knows this. Jack is cheap and shitty, it's the shit high schoolers drink.

It is whiskey though. Bourbon to be exact. Gentlemen Jack is actually pretty good. I would go that route. JD is beginner tier, then Jamason which is frat boy tier.

It's garbage.

JD is a tennesee sour mash whiskey, starts with a bourbon-style base, mostly corn, then fermented in charred oak barrels for at least 2 years. However a sourmash whiskey does not start with new corn and yeast but uses the 'pulp' collected from previous batches as a base. Gives JD that almost too sour taste when it hits the sides of your tongue. Some like it some don't. Personally cheap bourbon get Maker's Mark, cheap irish whiskey Bushmills, cheap scotch Glenlivet 12. Stay away from expensive shit unless you know what you're paying for, and for the love of god don't shill with sourmash or rye whiskeys calling them anything but what they are, recycled swill.

>Tennessee whiskey is not bourbon
well, actually, Tennessee whiskey does meet all the requirements to be called bourbon. TN whiskey differentiates itself by adding a charcoal-mellowing step before barreling.
Basically, after distilling the fermented mash, charcoal made from hard-sugar maple is used to filter the distillate just prior to putting into barrels to age. Gentleman Jack repeats the charcoal mellowing after barrel aging, which is why it's far more palatable than regular JD.
