when you use pre ground coffee, you're basically making hot, coffee-flavored ground insect liquid.
>>
>>9329595
especially bad if you're trying to make espresso.
the fineness of the grind is one of the main parameters, it's basically impossible to dial in your shot if you can't adjust it.

I am using a moka pot. I use lavazza ground and it tastes pretty good to me. I've tried it with freshly ground (my brother has a grinder) and it wasnt noticeably better maybe even worse to me. Maybe the beans were trash?

moka pot is not espresso, in that case you're only losing some freshness quickly by storing grounds. keep them in a sealed container in the fridge.

Properly sealed ground coffee will taste ok the first few days, then it starts to smell like sickly sweet mildew and wet dog.

Just grind your own, it's actually cheaper.

typically, yes.
It's not "bad", it's just not nearly as good as freshly ground coffee. You can test this yourself by buying a bag of whole bean coffee, grind some of it, save it in a container and use it a week later. Compare it to the taste of coffee from fresh grinds. There should be a noticeable difference in flavor.

If you're buying coffee that doesn't have a whole bean option, you're doing it wrong.

Why does /ck/ get autistic about grinders?
Please explain to me the difference between a £15 burr grinder and a £170 burr grinder
>>
>>9329595
I use the ground for convenience and that I don't have a grinder. If I did I'd by whole bean but finding the right grind would be annoying as fuck. Even so, it tastes better than instant and what gloop comes out a machine

typically, one has a motor, the other one doesn't
