Nah they do something with it. Used to work at an ihop and we got similar specialty instructions pancakes for eclipses in the past.

What style of mooncake did you have, Cantonese style with lotus seed paste it is really nice if unhealthy as fuck, albeit I'm also quite partial to shanghainese style ones (where I'm from, albeit I live in Hong Kong, so that's what I've had more often)

Mooncake festival is a pretty big deal here, we often get mooncakes September, sometimes late August, and they're so fucking unhealthy but God damn great.

Great wall in Rockville and many other Chinese grocers there stock moon cakes during new years

I don't even think there is any Chinese grocers left in DC because everything turned into a yuppie paradise
