They're aren't junk, but they are low-tier. Cheap steel, and they're stamped rather than forged. Poor quality sharpening job from the factory. The handles feel good to a housewife who has no idea how to properly hold a chef's knife but are pretty bad for a proper grip.

Also, most of them have that silly serrated edge which you don't really want. Having one serrated knife around for things like bread isn't a bad idea, but you don't want a serrated edge for 95% of cooking tasks. You can't effectivley trim meat with it, you can't finely mince herbs, you can't get very thin slices, etc.

For the money, yeah.

They use all sorts of silly gimmicks to demonstrate how awesome their knives are, but those tricks work because of the serrated edge...ANY serrated edge. A $5 Ginsu, Miracle Blade 2000, Ninja, or other TV-infomercial knife has the exact same construction, same steel, and a better warranty.

Cutco is shit. There are several reviews about them online. In one of them the cutco performed the worst out of all the knives tested, despite being among the most expensive.
