I love to grill steaks but I can't find a good rub for them. They taste bland at the end. What mix of spices are good for a regular steak? No premade store bought mixes.

So you're refreezing them after they partially thaw?
But seriously, I cook steaks once every 2 weeks or so and buy good quality steaks where I don't want any masking of the flavor of good meat so I like just salt and pepper. Sometimes, I'll splash a few drops of worcestershire on after they're done. Don't get me wrong, I like spicy thai curries, szechuan and mexican food, butwhen I eat steak, I just want the full meat flavor with nice charring. I save my spice rubs for slow smoked meats.

For a simple mix, look up Paula Deen's house seasoning. It's just salt, pepper, and garlic powder. You could make your own Montreal, but it would get expensive fast and probably lose potency before you could use it all up.
Herbs de Provence are aces on some roasted fingerling potatoes with some olive oil to go with the steak, beeteedubs.
