You don't really need specific recipes. Just take stewish things and cook them in the pot.
get lentils and split peas. you can do lots with those as the main filler. of course you will need broth/bullion, as well as tomato sauce.

My super simple chili.
Two pounds ground beef
Two cans kidney beans drained and rinsed
One or two green peppers if you like them
Big can of tomato sauce
Little can of tomato paste
Can of diced tomato
Season how you like it. I used a package of McCormick chili seasoning (not the slow cooker kind though) and then add cumin and cayenne to taste. I usually just let it sit for six hours and then have a bowl before the roommates kill it.
>pork shoulder or chicken thighs
>barbecue sauce + hot sauce
>cook until it falls apart
>serve on hamburger buns

Pinto beans make a nice side that freezes well. Cheaper and tastier than canned, basically no work either (don't even have to soak them first). Making them into refried beans is an extra step but still easy and makes them even more delicious.
Also beef stew is awesome in a crock pot.
