That's better.

Drank 3 days in a row recently. Beer only but still got some withdrawal symptoms. Mostly sweat and no appetite, which is easy. But it still sucks. I didnt even really want to drink but its like i dont know how to do anything else.

I can relate to them. They go towards the nearest booze and drown themselves in it and survive because they have ridiculous tolerance. They even lay their eggs in boozy fruit so that wasps can't get to them because wasps are lightweights.. Fruit flies are the only true al/ck/ insect.

When I drink vodka and coke to excess rapidly, or any bourbon and mixer rapidly I get a very sore abdomen. Its hard to describe, its a tight/cold burning sensation in my stomach. lasts for about 30 - 45 mins, but once its over I can drink again. Been having it for years, and I cant find anything about it. Also, before you lot start, I used to drink the shit straight but trying to pour lesser measures so i can get my self off the booze. someone here must know what im on about

kept my drinking down. The past several days a beer here and there np more than 3 drinks a night for the past idk5 or 6 days went to a AA meeting didn't find it terrible wasn't my first but it was my first I went to on my.own free will...maybe it'll help going again tomorrow...i figure it couldn't hurt....idk if I want to quitntotally I wish I could say I did but I'm I'll just keep going to see if I like.it

Yeah I worked at a hospital. I worked at an internal medicine ward, which is pretty fucked up (like all public hospitals in my cunt we were understaffed, had to deal with a lot of dying patients, lots of demented and bed-ridden patients and we had the nickname "washing street" (means car-wash in German), since we spent most of the morning shifts just keeping our patients clean)
The work hours were bad (6-14, or 13-21, excluding nightshifts and rounded, not counting overtime) and back-to-back shifts make you question your sanity (I stole benzos, so I could even function at times)
You have to deal with a lot of really gross stuff on a daily basis (if you really want I could go into detail)
Doctors can be real fucking cunts, but relatives of patients are worse.
Since IM, we got a lot of alckies/junckies, it's not fun to see where you could end.
Those would be the cons. I might think of more, but I'm drunk, so bear with me.
Here are the pros:
In my experience, the staff (doctors not included) were some of the best people I met.
You get a certain, unique sense of satisfaction, after helping cure a patient.
You have easy access to drugs, and can get them easily legally or illegally

I don't if I'd recommend somebody to work in a hospital (I'm not a trained nurse I was just a darn good help) it comes down to how satisfying you find the act of helping someone else, how much you care for others and so on. If you can stomache the large amounts of (literal and figurative) shit thrown at you, it can be a great and fufilling job.

I'd advise you to try out as an intern for a couple of months, see if you can handle it, depending on country and ward it could be something for you.

I'm sad that these threads are so slow. Whenever I'm boozed up (65% of the week) I love to share every minuscule thing with you. Maybe its for the better, but I'm always here anyway. Being a drunk in finland is tricky moneywise, socially noone cares.

Final update, day 5:

Worked today, which was really great. Starting up my machine had never sounded better than it did this morning. Pain level was low except for the hunger, which was driving me crazy. Bending over to pick things up and sweep stuff into dust pan was uncomfortable, but tolerable.

Went home after half a day due to exhaustion from not sleeping for more than a 3-4 hours per night all week. Caved in and ordered pizza with cheesy breadsticks because I'm a fat fuck. Ate 3 slices of the pizza and 4 bread sticks, made me a little nauseous but the hunger pains went away within an hour. I don't think any meal in my life has ever tasted so good.

Got almost 8 hours of sleep, no pain problems except a general bloaty feeling. Was able to shit when I woke up, so my intestines seem to be almost back to normal. Kinda dehydrated from all the sodium, but otherwise fine. I'm so glad this is almost over, what a horrible week, I'm still not drinking again.

On Friday, I'm scheduled to take one shot of vodka at around 3:00 P.M. as part of the tapering process, and I'm not even looking forward to that. So this is the end, glad you guys were here to offer support and advice.

Was drinking 750 whiskey every night.. Tr d to quit. after 3 days sober cold turkey, and 0 sleep, I had a seizure. I woke up in the er with tubes and shit coming out of me and tried to punch all the Dr's hovering over my bed. they gave me a shot of something and I was out. . I was hospitalized for a week.

Went 30 days sober. Lost like 20lbs.

I made the genius decision to indulge in a bottle of chateauneuf du pape to drink while attending a picnic with my gril, and within 3 days I was back to slamming bottles of Smirnoff.

I know about drinking and depression, it only makes it good in the moment. Regardless you will wake up feeling suicidal anyways.
