just put in the coffee cake batter from a mix I bought, says to bake for 40-45 mins, I might be fucking stupid for asking this,
I'm afraid of it possibly burning if its baking for that long. Why does brownie mix bake for about 30 while this coffee cake mix says for 40 mins?

Just check on it after 25 - 30 minutes if you're worried. Poke the middle with a toothpick or knife, if it comes out dry it's done, if not keep it in longer.
Gotta cook it thoroughly to kill the salmonella.

oh thank you! :)
I've been checking on it, it smells super good so I think it's going good

depends on the temp
Maybe they cook it at lower temp for longer time to keep it more moist or something
Always check on it. How'd it go OP? it's been more than an hr since you posted

Depends on baking temperature, moisture level of dough, and how much browning is desired. Brownies are usually denser without as much liquid added, and don't need much browning, so they don't have to bake as long. Coffee cake has milk added so it needs to bake longer and you want the sugar on top to caramelize a little more.
