Why is my rice always dry, hard and chunky when I cook it in a frying pan? I'm putting enough water to sink a battleship in there. It still tastes like shit.

Why are you cooking rice in a frying pan in the first place?
dunno. try soaking your rice in water for 24 hours in the fridge before frying it.

Heat probably isn't high enough. They always say to put your burner to "low" after bringing it to a boil and covering it, but if I turn the knob to where it actually says "low" it's barely warm. I have to put it on 3 out of 9 to actually keep cooking.

My rice is always hard if you know what I'm saying.
I'm asian.

If you actually plan on eating a lot of rice OP you may as well invest in a rice cooker, just ask any pinoy you happen to know

>cooking rice in a frying pan
OP I'm going to assume you're trying to cook long grain rice and not "instant" rice.
>2:1 water/rice mixture
>no more
>no less
>use a fucking covered pot you nigger shit, they're like $10 at walmart pic related
>water in pot
>rolling boil
>rinse rice if you want, I don't bother because I like mine a bit stickier
>dump in rice
>minimum heat
>stir well for a few seconds
>cover
>don't touch the lid for 15 minutes
>don't you fucking do it
>remove lid, taste test
>add couple minutes if needed, all water should be absorbed and rice should be done
Or this
