Looking for any ideas of what to add to tuna salad. I know the typical thing is to toss it in storebought mayo with celery, but I'm trying to elevate it a bit by making an aioli, maybe adding some minced bell pepper, chives, etc.
Any and all ideas welcome

Start with tuna in olive oil instead of water. Open can. Drain off excess oil. You're done.

Any brands of tuna you could recommend?

Don't use canned tuna, sear a cut of fresh tuna but keep it rare. Mince, then toss with soy sauce, kewpie mayo, sesame seeds, and wasabi(real if you can get it).

That actually sounds like a fantastic thing, esp. for a canapé. I'm working on more of a recipe for a tuna salad sandwich, but yeah. Good thinking, anon

Take a cue from the packets in the store that are preseasoned.
What goes well with seafood? Citrus. Salsa. Different onions, different crunchy veggies, different lettuce types if you do sandwich, mix it up with some bitter raddichio, flavorful arugula, watercress superfood oomfph, soft butter lettuce. Use your bread or cracker to provide the flavor, too. Consider whole wheat, olive or roasted garlic boulles, soft challah with onions, sesame bagel toasted, and any of those flats or krisps from scandinavia or new york.

Add some chopped tomatoes. Maybe some chopped celery, too. Oh, and cayenne pepper.

Anything packed in olive oil should be fine. If you want to dress it up a little you can always add lemon juice, capers, chopped onion, parsley or dill and black pepper. My favorite tuna salad is pretty much that mixed with cannellini beans.
Use a shoyu sauce and some fresh chopped green onions. Add sesame seeds and edamame beans if available. Delicious.
