hey /ck/

i have been living in my car touring the west coast for a month and a half, and i need some input.

eating fast food every day is too expensive, so i bought pans and a portable grill to cook my own meals and prepare meal-prep dishes. last saturday i made some veggie curry, pic related

but i underestimated the growth rate of bacteria on food at room temperature. i had to toss some leftover food because it had gone bad too quickly.

my first idea of course, is to get a cooler and make a makeshift fridge, but i feel like the constant ice expense would offset what i'm saving by cooking my own meals anyway.

i have no other ideas, but obviously humans have managed to store food in reasonably reliable ways for the past 12,000 years, well before electric refridgeration, so there must be some solutions i haven't thought of

any tips, f a m?

I am inexperienced with this topic, however maybe this link could help:

Why not get a bag of apples and trailmix to tide you over for most of the day and then go somewhere for dinner? Or instant noodles, canned food, jerkey, etc. Unwashed eggs would be good if you could find them.

Also, don't eat rice older than 48 hours. Hell, I wouldn't eat 12+ hour old rice if it was inside a car.
