Yeah not too great options, you can try Pizza Antica in San Jose, as far as south bay goes it's not that bad and the wine list, though completely incoherent, at least has some items other than shitty calishart butter bomb chardonnay and vanilla smuckers "pinot noir" that costs as much as 1st growth burgundy

Actual slice joints only exist in NYC and any alcohol at all is not normal. You want a wine you are going to a whole pie joint, you want a good wine you are going to a neapolitan style joint

We are talking about California, which is a far cry from NYC. I suggest you read the thread

No, what they have is "NY style pizza" places everywhere, emphasis on the scare quotes. Just like they have "NY style bagel joints", also in scare quotes.

I mean to be fair, I haven't been to all of California, just most of the SF Bay Area, some of the central coast, and some of LA and San Diego. Who knows maybe there is a thriving NY Slice culture in Visalia or Eureka or something? But I doubt it.

>>9237372
I suspect those were actually dosas, I guess they must be calling them "spicy pizzas" to market them to flyovers?
>>
>>9237389
No it was clearly pizza and marketed as pizza.
There's like a million Indians here so not surprising they eat it up.
>>
>>9237404
I have literally never seen an Indian place that gives a shit about wine. The midrange places are full of terrible australian wines and moscato, and even the michelin starred joints fall into the "it's non-european food so the only options should be gewurtz and riesling lmao xd xd" meme.
>>
>>9237378
Where exactly? In Orange county they had some places, even in Carlsbad.

I can get it in Oshkosh Wisconsin. It's literally a family who opened a pizzarea who is from New Jersey. They get the meats and stuff delivered from over there and make it the same way. Ive heard NY Jews before "it's not da same because day authentic NY tap water..." Give me a fucking break.
>>
>>9237413
I hate moscato and riesling equally. They both taste like spiked gatorade.
>>
>>9237420
>where exactly
I don't understand the question, do you want me to list every CDP I've set foot in?

The "tap water" thing is overblown just like the soil thing for wine. It's about ingredients and preparation, and I'm sorry but when the crust is literally fried in canola oil and the pizza is topped with green bean casserole, tater tots, and chicken wings, it's not a NY style pizza, I don't care how much you "feel" it is.
>>

>it's non-european food so the only options should be gewurtz and riesling lmao xd xd" meme.
Are you making this shit up or are just a troll?

I would almost have to know what your idea of a good pizza is. People raised on Domino's, incredibly, might think that's a good pizza. It's like a meatloaf or pot roast that your mother made. Pizza is childhood comfort food to Americans, and a lot depends on early experiences.

For my taste, you could do a lot worse than Costco pizza, but the "best" is probably going to be some place that's not well-known as a big chain.

Italian and American pizza are two different experiences for me.
When I eat Italian Pizza I want something different out of it.

I don't know exactly how to describe it but Italian Pizza places taste very different to American.
There's usually such a sharpness and freshness to the marinara sauce. Part of it tastes like there's wine in it.

I don't know how to describe it but when I want a really refreshing pizza where I savor all the ingredients and it melts in my mouth I go for italian.

if I want a pizza that is satisfying and comforting, and something I can pig out on. I'll go for American.

I think the Italian thin crust is what makes the biggest difference. IDK

From The Atlantic:

If you look only at the first measure—how much the federal government spends per person in each state compared with the amount its citizens pay in federal income taxes—other states stand out, particularly South Carolina: The Palmetto State receives $7.87 back from Washington for every $1 its citizens pay in federal tax. This bar chart, made from WalletHub's data, reveals the sharp discrepancies among states on that measure.

>I don't understand how GDP is calculated or what import tariffs are
The only reason, literally the sole reason, that GDP "generates" more money than it sucks in (hint: it doesnt in reality) is because of an accounting trick. It's 2/3rd of the west coast, which means pretty much every shitty chink product going to the rest of the country gets sent through it.
Which means most of your money comes from people trying to get shit out of your awful state, not from anything meaningful you actually produce.
Also GDP includes consumed value, not just created, so you dipshits having to import EVERYTHING into your state makes you have a larger value than you actually have.

>our agriculture ruins your worldview
I'm saying the fact you make a lot of veggies (while having to import both the labor and water to do so, kek) doesn't make all that other importing vanish.
California has practically no fabrication industry of its own to speak of, and certainly no natural resource mining.

California is largely a desert. Your state would collapse in on itself if you weren't importing huge quantities from surrounding areas.
>>

>no fabrication industry of its own to speak of, and certainly no natural resource mining.
You what now? I work in aerospace in NorCal, and there's quite a bit of fabrication industry going on out here. Do you think all of California only makes movies, tech products, and vegetables? You don't know shit. Also, just FYI:
"California is rich in natural resources. The mining industry contributes several billion dollars per year to the state’s economy. In addition, California is the third largest producer of gas and oil in the country. The most important mining industry in California is the cement and sand/gravel industry, which generates over one billion dollars of revenue per year. Many countries and other states do not have the rich sand and gravel deposits that California does, so the state exports these materials as far away as Japan and Australia. Another large mining industry in California are boron-bearing mineral mines in the southern part of the state. Other important resources include gold, tungsten, gypsum, pumice, silver, quartz, diatomite, lime, and talc."

>natural resource mining
>thinks coal can compete in any manner with oil.

The humorous irony is the approval of the Alaska pipeline sounded the death toll of anachronistic coal.

>I don't know how GDP is calculated: the post

You realize that goods brought into the port of Los Angeles etc. and passed on to different states aren't counted in CA's GDP right? Imports are subtracted in the classical computation of GDP. Regardless the post you are quoting has little to do with GDP: relative to the federal tax revenue generated by CA, California receives comparatively low federal funding. That's it. Your port theory makes no sense when you consider that South Carolina gets the most federal funding per tax receipts and is on the coast (before you bring up that CA is bigger, it is a normalized figure so state size is irrelevant).

Your other posts just demonstrate your ignorance. For instance there are more people employed in manufacturing in Los Angeles than any other city in the US. There are large automotive, aerospace, tech, etc. plants in California. Even if that wasn't true, manufacturing fetishism isn't grounded in any real economic theory.

#JustCaliforniaThings but seriously anywhere that isn't New England is nearly devoid of quality pizza. Just look at all the garbage this dude posted >>9238999 besides the chicago pies. The average quality of a pizza joint is just better in the northeast. How about a selection of wines that go with the food? You know there are hundreds of varietals vinified in infinite styles? It's like they skimmed a winefolly infographic and took it too literally. Gewurtz + riesling only is as bad as those flyover eye-talian joints that only have PG and chianti. I won't judge if it's some inexpensive joint in Indiatown but if it's got pretensions of fine dining I expect more

Then again that's what's wrong with the michelin guide, they indiscriminately hand out stars to random nonwhite spots without really trying, because they won't hire judges that aren't the boss's nephew and they got a mandate from above to "diversify" even though they don't have a clue how to go about it in the right way
