I'm a brit whos a cook in my first job at a steakhouse.
I also have american citizenship though, and I'm interested in working as a cook in an american ski resort for a winter season.
Anyone here have experience with something like this?
In europe it is all poorly payed positions with lots of alcoholic kids on their gapyear.
How possible is renting your own appartment etc just working in a decent restaurant?
How would getting a job before getting to the US go?

Sorry, we have restrictions on people travelling to the US from Muslim countries now. Try Switzerland.

You will not be able to afford your own apartment in a ski town. You will be making minimum wage and live in employee housing with the other hippie ski bums and foreigners. Look for jobs on the resort's websites
instead of a ski resort, try to find an actual city with a nearby ski resort

maybe not in a place like whitefish, but there's a few college towns with nearby ski hills, like boise or missoula

mexicans, niggers and libtards. there ya go
Canadian here, we hire almost exclusively Aussie as they happy to work 5 days for minimum wage for some reason, and no ride breaks.
Best advice, get a job at a restaraunt in a ski town, and not the resort proper. Work nights, make tips, and ski everyday laughing at the poor fucks onhill. Resorts are a bad choice, party town next to a hill is money.

Check out Squaw Valley, or South Lake Tahoe in general. I don't know what it's really like working at Squaw, but it's an awesome place to be in the winter. South Lake Tahoe has a whole city, casinos, ski resorts, restaurants, lodges, etc, so there's opportunity there. You'll still probably wind up having to have roommates, etc though, because living in any mountain resort area isn't cheap.
