Im about to buy a pizza stone, pic related is the only option locally. It says the material is clay, and is washable. Is that okay? It says its for bbq, would it be ok in an oven?
should be fine. go ahead and buy 2 cause it makes much better pizza than just using 1

i use 2 because it mimics moving pizzas in a brick oven
cook halfway on the first stone, then move it to the second stone for the rest of the cooking time. it puts a nice char and crispiness on the crust
I've had 2 stones break. Never again since I got one of these cast iron fuckers. I think it makes a better crust plus I can use it on camping trips. $38.00 on Amazon.

I have had similar for 20 or more years, a gift that came from someone who got it from a Pampered Chef party.
Preheat your oven with the stone in it.
Slide onto stone, or use a parchment under your dough when you slide on the stone if you're doing multiple batches, like I do with calzones.
The metal holder is like a countertop hot plate.
The stone can be washed, yes. Soak in sudsy water, scrub at crusty bits. It can get a little discolored/seasoned when oil glazes on there. It's and enhancement not anything you need to worry about cleaning. The stone is porous, so I would prevent any harsh detergents due to memory, just a soapy scrub sponge or brush. I would also worry about shocking it from cold to hot or hot to cold.
Save your money.
Just go to home depot and buy a big clay or brick tile in the gardening area.
