How many times have you been to Italy, OP? I could see going to Rome once and eating at shitty tourist traps then going home thinking Italian food sucks. But after a few visits to a few different regions you realize the cuisine is not just excellent, but very varied across the country.

But I'm guessing you've never been, and your idea of Italian food is red sauce from a jar, American style pizza and American lasagna. And that shit is massively overrated, but it also has very little to do with Italian food.
