This. Don't feel bad, OP. Most home ovens don't get hot enough to make great pizza. Next time you might consider turning your oven up to it's highest setting, applying sauce, cooking for 5 minutes, then applying cheese and toppings and finishing for another 5.

Rubbing oil on the crust top after the initial bake can also give it a nicer color

It's gas and I did use its broil setting, I'm out of fresh basil as well, honestly, I did a shit job on the plating. Oh and the cheese is normal mozzarella, I usually don't buy this specific, brand though I've honestly made better.
