This is just commercialized Koolaid Pickles, which have been a Southern gimmick food for ages.

assuming they're part of the same release

Is it a Southern thing or a black thing?

I'm from the South and the only people I've known to do this were black.

No, Wickles are some other company that makes a whole line of pickles that have some extreme pepper content added to whatever else they are dill, bread n butter...all are just kicked up a notch.

Koolaid pickles are where someone dumps in a packet of koolaid into the big pickle jar. Mind you, it has to be dill pickles without garlic, such that the final pickles are sweet and sour, which is like many pickles already, but then it adds the fruit flavor, whether it is cherry or fruit punch flavor. There are convenience stores all over the south where people get a pickle or a pickled egg, pickled red sausage, or a pickled pigs feet from the cashier who dips them out of a big giant container and places it in a napkin and you go about your way.
I was waiting for it to hit stores...Great Value is winn dixie? or is that wal-mart? Or someone else? There was a big debate about if these were patented by someone else, probably the delay.

I first saw them on Alton Brown's hitting the pavement motorcyle food tour series thing he did. I have actually only seen them in a store once, in Florida. But, I don't tend to go to much mom and pop gas stations, but hit up the big chains I like Shell or Race Trac mostly. I will however buy pickled sausages once a year, and I probably make pickled eggs every other year.
