Whats old bay, and what do you use lavender in? I made icecream out of it once. That pic is of me reorganising my stuff, I also added fenugreek, black mustard seeds, and celery seeds to it.

Old Bay is a spice blend, celery salt, bay leaves, pepper, and some other stuff that's escaping me atm - it's mostly used with crabs & seafood, but in Baltimore we'll put it on anything
The ice cream sounds awesome - I mostly use it in drinks, a few risotto recipes, and salmon on date nights

do i have to make it myself or can i buy a jar of it somewhere?

its indian for "spice mix". You should be able to buy it pre mixed but its not anything too special if you want to mix up a batc, cumin corriander seed, cardamom are the basics, like any mix it aint set in stone.

Caraway is great with sauerkraut or braised cabbage. It's good in a coleslaw dressing as well. Also, I've used it in a number of homemade sausages. It adds an interesting touch to a vinaigrette if you're using some strongly flavored greens like arugula, kale or chard.
Having containers all same size be traded, cause some spice you lots, others hardly ever.

I might try pickeling some red cabbage with it in the pickle liquor

the sad part is I spelt it right the first time on the ground cinnamon jar, but I'm horrible at spelling when there isn't a little wriggly red underline helping me.

I love my local afghan market for having the sadaf 12oz containers of ground cumin for $6, but I have become an ultrakike when I see the 1.5oz McCormick version for a similar price at Safeway.
