I'm getting a batch of peanut butter cookies at work tomorrow as a gift, how long can I let them sit out at my place before they go bad?
I'm not a fatass so I don't want to eat alot and i hate wasting food, especially food that people make for me
If you keep them covered, cookies can last up to a couple weeks. Then they'll go stale. I have never personally seen cookies mold, but I guess it could happen.

ok thanks.
My mom never baked so I don't know these things

Also, you can just freeze them for a few months. You have to make sure to vacuum or squeeze as much air out of the freezer bag as possible or they'll get funky freezer burn flavors.

Peanut butter, sugar, butter, and all can in fact spoil. Ive found peanut butter is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts a bit of sticky moistness. When I bake my own cookies, all but the merigue cookies are parked in the fridge and freezer.
Park in fridge. Remove them one at a time, and if desired, leave out on a napkin 15 minutes to warm up, or nuke a tiny bit, like 5 second, 7 seconds, and they will taste fresh out of the oven, warmed. Pour a cold glass of milk, or cup of coffee and enjoy it.

I might try but I also like eating sweet things cold

Around 2-3 weeks also

Most cookies are pretty low-moisture after baking. The only thing to worry about is how long the fats in them can set at room temperature with out going rancid. Peanut butter? Almost fucking forever. Butter? A week, maybe two. Staleness of the crumb really depends on humidity. A week is probably optimal, two weeks is probably where the texture will start to suck.

You ever had a peanut butter cookie spoil?

>I mean I might try heating them up but I actually prefer cold
I like cold cookies too, but I think you'll find PB cookies a touch on the tough side when cold, maybe even too toothsome and rock hard.
