So, what's your favorite cake? Personally for me it's doberge cake, I just love the layers of pudding and the icing is awesome.
I almost always have this cake only on my birthday because while it is very good it's a sugar overload. Also I know some like the lemon doberge, but for me it's chocolate all the way.
Cake doesn't appeal to me much because it can be made any day of the year from storeable ingredients. I get some when I'm abroad, but the rest of the time I'd rather not. I like seasonal fruit more.

I love a good rum cake, but it's hard to say. Chocolate is too rich but eveything else is a matter of taste.

I have an old recipe out of a Betty Crocker cookbook for chocolate cake that uses boiling water at the end. Comes out very light, very fluffy. A little too fluffy since it's hard to ice without breaking it. It's nothing special but since the age of 7 I was always the one who made the best deserts it has sentimental value.
