I have a french press. Can I just make coffee with it and then leave it like that until it gets cold?
Is there a reason I shouldn't let the grounds be in there for hours?
If you want coldbrew, put your grounds in the french press with cold water and leave in the fridge overnight.

cold brew uses more grounds though. I'm cheap

You get more caffeine from cold brew though, it's more efficient than a French press.
I don't like cold brew as much. Regular french press that sat in the mug and got cold is better.
Just make a regular coffee and put lots of ice cubes in it. Stick it in the fridge then drink after an hour.
Dude just brew coffee normally in your french press and pour the brewed coffee from your french press straight into a pitcher with ice - it'll cool down immediately and you can add a couple more ice cubes. Bam. Just be sure you add a bit more grounds to your liking, otherwise the coffee will be too watery, you get me? And you can do that with anything, even manual drip.
Mix instant coffee into milk and sugar
Yes, you can just brew your coffee and put it in the fridge.
Ice cubes and such will just dilute it.
Tip: Cold brewing black tea with a French press will change your life
